Don't let them haul off all of the organic material after clearing the land. Though it is hard you are doing the right thing removing the invasive fire prone species, but you should get them to turn to wood chips if not firewood like some of the first load. These wood chips can be the base to regenerate and feed the natives and other trees you add. Think of any organic material as fertilizer 👍

Hi, Maya! Your land looks like mine in many ways. Ideas that may benefit you:
To reduce you carrying water, you might be able to build a "ram pump" (not expensive, but well documented). In short, the energy of much falling water is used to move less water to a higher elevation, where you could store it in a tank. No electricity or fuel required, and no motors or engines, either.
With water I see (like mine, but more), you could install micro-hydro, to have decent amounts of electricity.
To produce natural gas (swamp gas), you could build a methane digester -- buy or build a tank, fill with water, and feed with clippings of vegetation (but not wood -- too slow to decompose). A simple push mower with a bag can save those clippings while you maintain terraces, and you can cook with the gas, maybe even heat the home some. It's gas, but without fossil fuel cost.

You really wanna start slowing down your water and rehydrate your landscape. Nothing protects better against fires.
Build damns in your river check and leaky. You got a lot of water. You can get a wetland started. Keep your group d covered and build swales in places without terraces. Start a pond that's higher than your houses so in case of a fire you can flood your land with gravity alone.
The 2 most important things, your basic foundation is stoping erotion and slowing water everything else is dependent on that.
If managed correctly mimosas are very helpful. They provide a lot of biomass and fix nitrogen. Having a few that you prune can be helpful. The ferns shouldn't have been cut you need your ground covered. If you cut something it needs imidetly replacement.

It's always nice to see a person full of enthusiasm and energy transforming an abandoned property. Removing all these branches that were creating plenty of shadow and lowering the temperature for aquatic fauna was truly a bad move though. This is exactly how people make small creeks disappear and the life that was thriving in the water. By exposing it to the sun. Hopefully you won't cause serious damages to that land.

You have bought a patch of paradise, what a fabulous block and with a pools and a river. Your so lucky. With all those buildings and the cabin is amazing.Have you considered hiring goats to clear yr land? The neutralise the seeds so the weeds don’t come back as they fertilise.

Portuguese must be so happy to see droves of city dwelling well off foreigners buying their lands, so they can make trendy videos on youtube that will attract even more foreigners and will drive the cost of properties up for the locals...

Here in Brazil we are forbidden by law to clean the natural vegetation that grows along water streams. We need to keep from 30 to 500 meters untouched, depending on the size of the river/brook. We also can't cut trees from slopes, otherwise the rain will move the dirt from the soil, causing erosion... Even to clean invasive species we need a permit from the environmental agency. I live on the other side of the Country, very far from Amazonia, near Uruguay. The law is national. And the cleanings normally aim to produce food, not just to have a beautiful view... Very different concepts!
