What a great city... I can only dream of my city to be like this

I really enjoy your videos on the cycling city candidates, it's an important update of how it actually is, rather than just the praising of dutch cycling infrastructure and city planning. :)

It always amuses me when Mark points out the _worst_ cycling infrastructure...which still outshines anything here in the UK. Too narrow one-way cycle tracks which are wider than our two-way tracks (which are often shared with pedestrians)...poor surface quality which is superior to some of our major roads...on-road cycle lanes where we have to cycle amidst motorised traffic.

Great video as always Mark. Brings back fond memories of my short time in Eindhoven last year and make me extra excited for my cycling holiday around Netherlands in August this year.

Well if you ever come to the Netherlands and Maastricht. Eat vlaai as lunch. Try to visit a concert of Andre Rieu. Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium and Northern France are near by. Zuid-Limburg is the most southern province of the Netherlands.

Let me clarify a few things. First of all the steps have a channel on either side to allow bicycles to be rolled down them. Secondly, and hugely important, the world's first double decker tunnel under the city will be opened soon which will take much traffic away from the streets. One level will have no exits for through traffic, and the other will have exits to specific parts of the city. Brian Fenwick

Maastricht is the example that Brussels should follow. Most people discard cycling in brussels because it's a bit hilly. But Maastricht shows that despite hills, with good infrastructure, you can greatly increase cycling and make the city better altogether for everybody

Hi I'm from Adelaide, Australia. I lived in Maastricht for 3 years and would like to see more cycling from there.

What do you use to hold your camera? Is it your hand or a camera holder? Or something else? Also, what brand is it?

2:10 what Dutch people do when they want to overtake 2 on the cycle lane which is not wide enough?

shame the inner city sucks so much (also i live off of one of the fietsstraats and it actually sucks because it's two ways for cars and bikes)

I hope my country Scotland pushes more for the Dutch cycling way , it's so much better, and safer for the cyclists.

A cycling bridge that is accessible only by stairs? That's hilarious.

@@abcxyz123 I think, it's constructed without ramps to 'educate' the users for "slow and carefully moving" above the Hoge Brug. ^^

The problem was that the slopes on each side would occupy too much space then was available. And then there was the architecture of the bridge where the possible solution was not deemed fit.

It's a pretty steep incline though. With the typical single speed bikes it takes some effort.
