I want to do Bella's 9th grade year!! What a wonderful mix you curated for her. The way you organized this helps take so much mystery and overwhelm out of thinking about high school. As a habitual blender (hello! We are novelty lovers over here), I am already anxious about our HS years, but those worries are always quieted after your videos. Thank you for putting yourself out there for all of us.
Thanks... last minute freak out about what we will use for History this year! I had sort of forgotten about health as a requirement as well, so was good to see that info here as well. Going to keep watching and revisiting as we finalize our path for 9th!
@@colorswordsandlearning Aww, thank you so much! I know I don’t follow the typical success formula of shorter videos, but I figured if you’re here, you’re ready for a full episode. I just can’t pack everything I want to share into 10 minutes or less. Thank you, truly, these are a monster to edit!
Thanks for sharing! This video is taking me FOREVER to get through because you have chosen so many fantastic resources that I then have to go research those items before continuing on with watching! I hadn't heard of the SparkNotes Literature Guides. So happy to find those. I purchased 5 or 6 for us to have a starting point for Lit because I was just not sure what we were going to do/read this year. Now checking out Intro to Literature and that looks fantastic as well! I am sure I will be back with more comments as I make my way through the rest of the resources
Thanks for sharing the visual of the block schedule. I have been trying to jot down and tweak how to best fit in everything using some sort of block schedule method. This was really helpful to see! So so many great resources here, I will definitely be referring back to this video often. Checking out Mango Languages for my two who are starting their Foreign Lang this year, and the SAT/Career/College Prep books got added to my library holds list! Thanks again for taking the time to put this together and share, Arlene! SO SO valuable!
@@SmithsInTheMaking so glad it helped. Heads up, I changed the block schedule from this, I shared this with this week’s mini series . In case you needed another option to look at.

I’m adding some Tristan Gooley books because I just can’t help myself..🤣 She started yesterday and so far so good! We are also doing OM Hero’s Journey for Lit/Comp plus lots of other things I’ve added for ELA. Hope you all have a great Freshman year!

Wow- that was so thorough. I can tell you did a lot of work to create your daughter's freshman year. I'm definitely interested in seeing a video on your teacher's cart. Thanks so much for sharing your plans!
Thank you Arlene.. this was amazing and I appreciate your videos so much. You curated this from pure love and it shows. Also, your block schedule was so helpful, I struggle with this. Please do a video on your teacher cart.🙏🏾

Fantastic video as always! Thank you so much for all of your hard work and your willingness to share it with all of us! I have a plan for my 9th grader for this upcoming year but some of the resources you mentioned will blend in perfectly and really add to the choices we've already made. Thank you!

Hey, long time watcher, first time commenter! I have a 7yo kiddo who is also super into conservation/zoology, do you have any reccs for a secular unit study focusing on that topic? Just want a short change of pace. We picked one not too long ago, went to purchase, and realized it wasn't secular and we're pretty bummed out. The Fiddlesticks one you mentioned sounds so fantastic for older kiddos!
@@ElizabethSwigart hi, Fiddlesticks has similar resources for younger kiddos too, so I would still check her out. You also have Roots of the Earth conservation unit which is excellent. @@SecretCinemaSocietyPodcast Yes, you can use adaptations like audiobooks or graphic novels, but I recommend still following up with the original text. These adaptations can help build familiarity and make the material less intimidating, but engaging with the original text afterward can further enhance understanding and confidence. Keep in mind that the program is geared toward high school students or first level for either 8th of 9th graders, so if your child is younger, you might want to consider the rigorous nature of the content, although it is adjustable.
