This is an informative piece here!
A quick question; what is considered “Roof” in Revit? Is it the Roofing sheet? Or the roof with some roofing members? Because why is the default roof 300mm at first

Generally a roof is the entire structure that covers the upper part (top) of a building now the things that makes up the roof are referred to as roof members.
Naturally the prefix “roof/Roofing” comes before all the roof members. For instance, Roof gutters, Roof trusses,Roofing sheets, roof ridge etc
Now, I honestly do not know the actual reason why the default thickness for Roofs in Revit is 300, but I have a theory.
Revit gives you 300 because it doesn’t know what type of roof you might wanna create, that is why it also gave u the ability to edit the roofs too. If you decide to create a flat roof, then you can just proceed to add your different layers as you see fit. If you want to create sloped roof you can reduce the thickness and add other members to get your desired results too.
Also one can argue that the 300 thickness is to give the illusion of roof + simple roof fascia especially during the initial conceptual stages because it does look like that.
But these are my humble opinions please do not quote me 😂

how do i add the libraries that have the Generic elbow family? Every time I click load families i just have the Imperial and metric libraries but, they only have two folders one named route analysis and the other is structural precast.
