This video provides an example of how to determine the square footage of a house with and without the garage. Complete Video List: www.mathispower... or www.mathispower...
this diagram show only one floor. How to calculate sq for 1 floor + garage. Thats all this is. Now check sq for second floor and basement. Then just add if you dealing with extra floors.
Why everyone explains with no decimal or inches .. conversion of inches to feet is very important.its not necessary that every house would have a perfect length and width in measurement. What abt inches !!!
Please Help. Can you clarify the measurements shown in your diagram are indeed exterior measurements? If so, does that agree with ANSI Z765-2003 method of measuring sf for appraisals? Thank you
So if u had 2 areas say 12x12 it equas 144, then u add 144 plus 144 and equals 288 total. Yet if u just had one area double that at 24x24 it equals 576. Riddle me that batman.
Circumference is the perimeter of a circle. it is equal to Pi*D, where Pi is constant value of 3.14 and D is the diameter of the circle. but if you need to calculate area of a circle, which is topic above, it is Pi*(R*R) .
No! Use the Google Metric Converter: www.google.co.uk/search?q=feet+to+square+meters&rlz=1C1CHBF_en-GBGB758GB758&oq=feet+to+sq&aqs=chrome.0.0j69i57j0l4.3717j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
Exactly! I started to post that, then the video kicked my text out. And it's not to scale, because of the garage is 22', then it would be the same width as the house! And according to the photo, it's not.
Nope but very close unless???? There had been a change in drafting measurements principles. The first example would be 40 - 6. Not 40 + 6. Really insignificant, but in a largest scale project.. It could be thousands of dollars! Don't you agree. But, thank you for the tutorial... Really helpful in overall comprehension
Thanks. I added the 3 rectangles to arrive at the same conclusion. I never thought to do 1 large rectangle and subtract the other 2.
Thanks from the UK
Thx man I help a welder and he's been wanting me to learn how to do this
best explanation, very helpful thanks
Does 2 story ceiling add sqft to a home? Would that be extra in drafting blueprints?
But do you walk around the house and measure from the outside? Inside? What is considered legal by the real estate world?
bonmom out side
Best explanation ever. Thanks 😁
Thank you for the comment!
man is smart excellent explanation
i have a question.
suppose, you know the square foot of an area but do not know the size of length and width. how do you find that ?
You’ll need at least 2 of the variables to get the 3rd.
length is always the longest side and width is the shortest side.
Nice example. Thank you!
I disagree. this seems more complicated than it should be. Just measuring each room, add the SF of each room and done no subtracting needed.
Is a porch or an attached deck or garage considered part of a homes square footage?
this diagram show only one floor. How to calculate sq for 1 floor + garage. Thats all this is. Now check sq for second floor and basement. Then just add if you dealing with extra floors.
thank you, really good explanation.

Thank you so much for this, you just helped us figure out sq of our home for insurance!
Please Help. Can you clarify the measurements shown in your diagram are indeed exterior measurements? If so, does that agree with ANSI Z765-2003 method of measuring sf for appraisals? Thank you
Thanks for the refresh bro
So don't deduct for the walls as some are 4" and some are 6"
THANK SO MUCH !!!!!
wonderful explanation
Great video
that was very helpful.
When I look at this, all I think about is that game Minesweeper from back in the day
Thank you
very nice ... keep it up
So the square footage of a house doesn't change no matter how tall is it!?!?!
thats for volume. Length x Width = area
but Length x Width x Height = Volume. Volume only counts if you can fly.
@@mazmusicornament525 What if you want to turn your house into a pool?
you are right, sqft is the ground area.
Correct. But if there are separate floors, you calculate each floor.
helo sir plese give me 19by 14 ft map home

If you put the 2 12x12 squares next to each other, the dimensions would be 12x24, not 24x24. 12x24=288 or 144+144=288.
@@Mathispower4u Nice. Very good.
i thought you measured the outside walls of the house??
Correct.
then whats the circumference and perimeter someone please help?????.................

Google's your friend.
Is Square meter or square ft. Are the same?
No! Use the Google Metric Converter:

The methods to calculate are the same. Obviously meters and feet are different.
The wall at the top says 22' wouldn't the bottom be 22 - the 8 so instead of 30 you should've went with 22?
Exactly! I started to post that, then the video kicked my text out. And it's not to scale, because of the garage is 22', then it would be the same width as the house! And according to the photo, it's not.
Actually, the top is also 30 ft because he is also adding the 8ft, just like he did for the bottom.
He did it correctly
Go more in depth.
noice

No idea what you're talking about. He did this correctly.
Didn’t help
My teacher can do this faster then you
