All factory tanks on big trucks are DOT approved. Everyone I’ve ever filled up had it stamped around the fuel cap area into the tank. I agree that a truck tank is a lot better than these rds tanks.
Glad it's working out for you. I was pretty bad about forgetting to turn my pump off going down the road so I set a timer on my phone to remind me to shut it off. I know about how long it takes for it to fill my truck tank from half a tank so I set a timer😊 to remind me to shut it off
I have an Edge CTS3 in my pickup. I have an alarm set on my fuel level at 98% full. I get a red alarm and sound when it reaches 98%. That has given me enough time to shut it off, even when I am dealing with traffic.
Well, does mounting tank differently that the way it was designed to mount affect its DOT rating? For instance, i have heard that modifications to an automobile outside the factory design could have legal ramifications if you cause an accident.
What air system are you going with? I'm thinking about the Klienn Air Compressor system since it mounts to the frame and the Air Lift. Geno's Garage recommends the PacBrake system.

@Johnson13210 i don't see any difference. Plus it's more secure to the truck and thicker wall than the rds tanks.
