    I ended up losing my footing while getting out of the shower and pulled out half of the toilet paper holder from the wall trying to brace myself. Your video made the repair for me so easy and I don't have to get the landlord's handyman to come out to do such a minor repair when they're already so busy. Thank you for the video!

    I did it...! Finally went to our local big box hardware store, bought the toggle bolts, and reassembled the plate mechanism, which was a little different than yours, but with a little jiggling got it seated and tightened everything up. Thanks for having taken the time to post this very helpful video!

    Wow. Thank you so much. I am a 74-year-old woman with LITTLE handyman experience, at least with drywall. I had no idea what to do to fix that small but gaping hole, but will head to the hardware store in the morning for the toggle bolts. Is it imperative to have that little screw on the bottom? It seems it would be easier to access if on top.

  • @chantelboersma8493
    @chantelboersma8493 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you don't hear the toggle bolt spring back inside the wall does that mean it is too small/short?
    It still worked in the end but not really secure to the wall. Thanks for your video and helping me get it back on the wall at least!

    • @AndrewDIY
      @AndrewDIY  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Usually you would hear it spring out. So it could just be wedged in the hole. I guess if it comes out again then maybe try longer toggle bolts.

    If I patch a slightly larger hole first, could I reinstall the hardware in the same spot? Would it be best to use paint and patch or something heavier?

    • @AndrewDIY
      @AndrewDIY  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      anesthezea Depending on the size of the hole you may want to patch the hole and either move the anchor into a new area of sheetrock, basically you want to avoid mounting it in a weak area. I don't have any sheet rock repair videos at the moment, but if it's a straight plaster patch, then I'd relocate the anchor instead of drilling a new hole through plaster. I hope that makes sense.

    Well I moved in and bought this house, This was done by who ever and it was lose after awhile( I have a special needs child) so first I didnt know this was done and they still used both other screws so I couldn't tighten it plus its connected on the base by a strange size of hex screw. So I got it off , now I will need a Lil patch work . Yes the other side is done the same way. The bolt is lose but conncted by the same toggle screw. Ugh. Still have the problem of the allen screw 😠. Your idea is great but not if you cant adjust it. Thanx former owner.

    What size is the toggle bolt? Looked at the home depot and they got a lot of different lengths

    • @AndrewDIY
      @AndrewDIY  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It doesn't really matter as long as the spanning nut is wider than the hole. You don't want a giant one though as it will require making a bigger hole in your wall to get it through. I hope that makes sense.

    • @locdelocs4314

      Andrew Hill Actually the "toggle" part isn't what I was asking for, it's the actual bolt that goes through the wall, 1 inch, 2 inch, 5 inch?

    • @AndrewDIY
      @AndrewDIY  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      KalliSlots ohh, 2, 2.5 inches is probably fine, 5 inches is too long, but it doesn't really matter since it's in the wall but you just don't want it too short.
