installed remote start on my 2nd gen tundra and it never turns off unless i hit the brake before twisting it to power on, which you don’t have to do with the key
I would think so. Worst case, you have to take it in to a dealership for them to update the software; hopefully it’s something they can do without having to take it in.
That rocks. It’s the only reason I never used remote start on my ‘18 RAV4. I hate auto eng shutoff and don’t have it, so why would I want to have to restart after getting in on an extremely cold day. Thanks for posting this.
@@TundraDude34 funny you say that, as I am a proud owner of a 2021 tundra in army green (best color ever 😁). Just seems ridiculous to me that such a simple thing hasn’t been implemented yet. Toyota needs to step it up, but I guess they have way bigger issues with these huge recalls which have dragged their name into the mud. Their vehicles not staying on after remote starting is most definitely at the bottom of the list lol.
When I bought my 2021 F150 in 2021. A few months later I found out there would be an all new Tundra and I immediately thought that I would have seriously regretted not waiting. That is definitely not the case. I seem to have gotten an F150 made on the right day. No extra pay services for remote start, and no engine shut off.
Bro.. Remote start is nice to have especially up North. Had an aftermarket R/S on my 2005 4Runner Ltd. Could start my truck form like 500yrds away, also had a valet parking mode. You can keep the vehicle running without the key in the ignition.. Factory remote starts are decades behind aftermarket ones.
I paid about $200 for an auto start module that works w my oem key fob, installed it myself, and I know for damn sure I paid less money for my tundra, sooo I gotta say my feelings ain't hurt too bad 😅
What upsets Toyota owners is that remote start has apparently now become a subscription option that only works for a period after the initial purchase then cost money to keep. I believe they played that game on my 2020 Tundra ... but at least I'm not dealing with turbo and motor issues. I'd rather deal with having to manually starting my truck than having one that doesnt start at all.
@@TundraDude34Crazy! Thank you! It now works again... I checked it after the "trial" period ended and it didn't work... now it works again! Still have to deal with it shutting down when I open the door! Thanks Tundra Dude!!! BTW... Still love my 2020 5.7 SR5 DC MGM.
Yeah the US brands have had it the correct way for a long time. Toyota went this direction for “vehicle security”. Im just happy we are starting to see this setup show up finally
My brother works at the Toyota plant building the V6 turbo engine for the trucks. Anyway from what i understood him say those motors are having tons of issues... should have stuck with the V8... the engineering dept always seems to mess up good things with there bright ideas. 😂
I’m not sure what the big deal is here, i bought an aftermarket kit for a ram 1500 and it stays running unless you put it in gear without turning the key, maybe my $250 amazon kit is better than a new truck?
Yeah ....I had a shop install a better one(you hit one dedicated button once) on my 4th Gen 4runner years ago. 😂 No monthly fee. No hassle. No engine cutting off.
Other than Toyota buying back my tundra for being a lemon the remote start on any Toyota / Lexus is criminal. Your remote signal is so bad. You almost always had to be line of sight and even when you know you hit the lock button right it only worked 20% of the time. So happy I can be a block away from my Silverado knowing my truck remote started.
Can you get a screen on these trucks smaller than 47” ?? I ride a motorcycle and between these monster, ridiculous looking screens and people’s phones…. It’s like playing Frogger.
SR, SR5, TRD PreRunner come with an 8 inch infotainment screen. TRD sport and TRD off road get 8 inch screen standard, with the option to upgrade to 14 inches. Limited and up get 14 inch standard.
I don’t like remote start….what if it popped into gear somehow…we have a vehicle moving without an operator! Years ago a dad had remote started his truck while inside his apartment….when he came out his two kids were playing under the truck! I told the two kids to come out from under the truck which they did as Dad was walking up!
Wow definitely Upset HOW TF Tacoma get it first. This is the only thing I really dislike about my Tundra. I hate it so much I just don’t even bother to remote start it anymore! 🤬
I completely understand what im talking about lol. From factory, the Tundra has never had a remote start that doesn’t shut off when u open the door. If your Tundra stays on, you have a system that the dealer installed.
I think tundra needs to get the motor issues worked out first 🤔🤷
Motor issues don't exist for the vast majority of tundra owners
@@Lannie4reelgot 67k miles on my 2022 with no issues
@Lannie4reel I think they are. Meanwhile in GM land, lifters keep bending and engines keep starving for oil
@@dethtourI have 36,000 thousand miles on mine also I haven’t had any issues on the engine
Yea that’s some bs. I need that in my tundra. wtf
Upset, that's an understatement!!!
they have got to push an update for that, like seriously wtf
Nope, different module.. Tundra was built with old tech.
If this is what pisses you off, you’ve got a great life with no real problems 😂
Bought a $73,000 truck and the remote start turns off when I get it in it. It’s annoying, that’s all buddy
I knew that's where you were headed with that. Unreal!
Yea, that pisses me off bro.
Me too!!
This pisses me off and this is what everybody is aggravated about with the Tundra. Such fucking bullshit.
Dude my third gen Tacoma too
Just swapped my 21 Tundra for a 23 Titan. The Titan does this as well.... so nice
You should check your local water supply.
You traded that tundra for a 💩
Can't believe you did that, but to each his own.😢
Im legit pissed off!! 😂 Why cant they have done that ages ago! Now when I remote start my Platinum Tundra im going to think about this thank you 🎉😂
I have 2021 Tundra and I installed a remote start kit using the factory key and it works like a charm. 😎
installed remote start on my 2nd gen tundra and it never turns off unless i hit the brake before twisting it to power on, which you don’t have to do with the key
Could it happen with a software change in 3rd gen?
In the Tundras yes for sure. Toyota just takes forever to do anything
Tundra has bigger issues to worry about than some weird remote start
I wonder if they can update the newer tundras software to perform that.
I would think so. Worst case, you have to take it in to a dealership for them to update the software; hopefully it’s something they can do without having to take it in.
That's the least of the new Tundras problems!
Have to be an over air update they can do, this was the only thing I wasn’t happy with mine
That rocks. It’s the only reason I never used remote start on my ‘18 RAV4. I hate auto eng shutoff and don’t have it, so why would I want to have to restart after getting in on an extremely cold day. Thanks for posting this.
Why is this such a big deal? Chevy and other brands have had this for well over a decade. lol
Its definitely not a big deal to Big 3 owners, just a big deal to us Tundra owners. Yes, you guys have had remote start the right way forever
@@TundraDude34 funny you say that, as I am a proud owner of a 2021 tundra in army green (best color ever 😁). Just seems ridiculous to me that such a simple thing hasn’t been implemented yet. Haha my bad! And yes, army green is amazing
It's aggravating
If I had to guess it was some sort of patent issue.
WTH how come they other model dies after you open the door? Can you change that settingv

I think Tundra owners will be ok. I know I will.
Wow my old tundra does the same
I have a Tundra and having to hit the start button isn't a big deal.
The Highlander and Camry shut off the moment you open the door

What are some of the other problems with the Tundra?? Major issues plz ??
There’s supposed to be an update for it, they said 2024 but it hasn’t happened, I wonder if it will come out with the 2025 tundra/sequoia??
Never had that problem with my ram. 😅
I paid about $200 for an auto start module that works w my oem key fob, installed it myself, and I know for damn sure I paid less money for my tundra, sooo I gotta say my feelings ain't hurt too bad 😅
The little things that people bitch about.
Its more of something to laugh at then cry about. For years, Tundra owners have asked for a regular remote start. This gives hope its coming lol
Sheldon Brown needs to just be Tundras chief engineer
Whats that push button start from 1989
Yes, from 2020 on up on the tundras!!!!
My 2011 F150 did that lmao. Toyota owners are amazed by something so simple.
We are amazed that everyone has always had this and we have a weird version of it. More annoyed than amazed lol
They all do that… They don’t tell you I tried it it works in all the new Toyotas
Tundra still doesn’t have the “stay on when you open the door” remote start.

They really need to update that remote start everyone has a dedicated bottom for that or from an app like my 2023 Silverado
RAM and jeep owner here.
Does every remote start work like this?
Something wrong with the tundra?
Tundra has the older version, that won’t stay on when you enter the truck. I believe it will be updated soon
@@TundraDude34 how older? My jeep is a 2016 and it stays on.

Wow it’s like every other remote start vehicle
Lol, welcome to Toyota. This is a big deal to us 🤣
Have this on my 2015 f150
Screw that!!! Make that software update for the 3rd gen Taco!!
Obviously they put more effort on building the taco then the tundra and had more common sense
Sounds like a sewing machine LOL ☮️❤️🇨🇦
Get a 5.7 V8
End of story.
Lol its a Taco.
Yup I was having a good day till this video popped up
😂😂😂

My es350 turns off as well 😞

I’m not sure what the big deal is here, i bought an aftermarket kit for a ram 1500 and it stays running unless you put it in gear without turning the key, maybe my $250 amazon kit is better than a new truck?
So they finally realized how absolutely idiotic that was.
My 18 camry has the same thing, i dont think you have to hold the third press to remote start it😂
Yes please. Would it just be a software update, you think?
I have that on my 2018 tundra
If it stays on when you open the door, you have an aftermarket system 😁
One right doesn’t fix all the wrongs.
That’s it I am trading my tundra for a Tacoma 😎

I’m going to kms if I don’t get this in my 24 tundra
I’m shocked people use remote start.
Awww man! Now I am pissed seeing this as a Tundra owner.
Smfh. Pisses me off actually. Hate that my 2020 turns off. Soo stupid.
You can do it from the app too
Furious

Not only this but the auto close tailgate too. I can’t believe the cheaper truck gets more features than tundra which is a much more expensive truck.
Taco has been the #1 selling mid size truck for years. It will always get top priority. 🤷🏼♂️
Wtf every decently optioned American trucks had this for years😂

Dammit
My sequoia cuts off so dumb
This is the reason I literally never use remote start. It is dumbest feature toyotas has. I'm glad they fixed it.
Insert your key into the door to get in
Then put your key into the ignition
And it doesn’t turn off.
Its push button start
These don’t have keys 🤦🏼♂️
Why does it seem like Toyota gives the Tundra less technology than every other vehicle...
And those Thomas Edison signal lights in the front…in 2024? C’mon man…👎
It's faster to walk in the car and push the button
Boom good bye reliability
My bmw has been doing this for 10 yrs
Wow definitely Upset HOW TF Tacoma get it first. This is the only thing I really dislike about my Tundra. I hate it so much I just don’t even bother to remote start it anymore! 🤬
There are some decent aftermarket starters out there
Camry does this too…
Hmmmm my 4runner does that and it's a 2019🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Umm I'll take the one you don't like...never had a button or screen before
That’s crazy tundra failed
My 23 Highlander doesn’t do that 🫠
Nah i love my tundra!!
Really!? Please!!!
In all reality, it’s not a huge deal, but definitely a minor annoyance
I completely agree. But it has been something that has been a complaint by viewers for the entire 8 years ive been doing this channel lol
dude a 2008 dodge ram has an easier remote start
but i like how toyota said f u to the ev bullshit i liked that move
The Tundra has got bigger issues. It needs an engine transplant. 😂
I’m far from upset. My Tundra is better than the Taco in every way
Weird isn’t that standard for most cars nowadays??
Pretty much!
Tundra has bigger issues
They can have their remote start. I’ll keep my V8. We’re even. 🤝
Totally worth it for a $50k 4banger! 😂
Irs sad because it's a software update away..
Software update. Problem solved. Hopefully
Really? 😂 I think all automakers do this.
WTF why does a Tacoma have that but the Capstone does not???
No Tundra does…yet!
@TundraDude34 $80K truck....I swear sometimes Toyota is so backward...
@memochico5521 whats your thoughts on the capstone, like it?
Just got it about a week ago. My wife and I LOVE IT! Compared to our 2017 Platinum, it is a HUGE upgrade.
Yooooo wtf!?
This is blasphemy 😂
My Titan does this..sad on toyota
Still a 4 banger....so not enough.....🤷♂️
