TIME IN with Violinist Sarah Chang and Her Dog Chewie

Internationally-renowned violinist Sarah Chang has been playing professionally since she was eight years old. The last few months have given her time to reconnect with home and spend quality time with family and her beloved dog Chewie in suburban Philadelphia. She spoke with WRTI's Susan Lewis on May 28th.

Sarah Chang is just as delightful in real life as well! I am one of Chewie's vet nurses so I get to see Sarah and Chewie regularly. She is always so so incredibly sweet and lovely and thoughtful and she always brings the most delicious treats for the staff, which makes our day! And Chewie is such a good good boy, too! This was actually the first time I've ever heard him bark! Hopefully I'll get to see Sarah perform in concert one day :)

I just watched a video of her when she was 12 years old. Just incredible. I used to think she may have been technically better then than now, but then I watched a recent video. It doesn't seem possible, but, yes, she's even better now. It's as if her violin is a part of her. And for sure, she's even more beautiful! And what a sweet personality! What a blessing from God!

Her look changes a lot, sometimes in the past very slim, sometimes more weight, also sometimes she looks tired through over working herself. I have met Sarah Chang twice in person after concerts when she meets her fans for photos, a brief chat and also her autograph. Lovely lady and wonderful violinist and I think it must have done her the world of good having this nice break as sometimes she overworks and with the non stop air travel, she gets very tired and gets headaches ( says so on her twitter ) so this break has given her time to re-charge her batteries, do some regular exercise including the long walks with her dog and lastly time to relax and reflect about her life.
