    Here's an almost complete collection of many of the Powerhouse bumpers that existed during the Powerhouse Era for Cartoon Network, which lasted from 1997-2004. This era is named after the Raymond Scott composition, "Powerhouse", which was the musical theme mixed in the bumpers' themes and animated elements of that period. Each of the bumpers consisted of "Coming Up Next", "We'll Be Right Back", and "Back to the Show" bumpers with black & white transitions in between the bumpers. Cartoon Network and Primal Screen animated many of these bumpers for hundreds of shows, almost every show that existed on the network around the time, and even for shows that weren't owned by Time Warner as well. I do not own any of these bumpers or any of these clips. Credit goes to Primal Screen Atlanta and Cartoon Network. Each of the Powerhouse bumpers had background colors based off the time of the day.
    Yellow: weekday mornings
    Green: weekday afternoons
    Blue: weekends & evenings
    Purple: weekday & midnight action
    Black/Dark Blue: midnights
    Red: originally midnights from late 1997-1998 until it was replaced by black/dark blue, because most old TV sets from the 90's could not adjust well to the red hue back then
    Black/Orange: Halloween in 1998 & 1999
    Reddish-Brown: Thanksgiving in 1998 & 1999?
    Light Blue and Winter: Cartoon Network's Christmas Party 1998

      I feel the same way about Disney Channel and Nickelodeon as I grew up with all three channels, though I didn't start watching Disney Channel until the early 2000s because I mostly watched Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon most of the time back then. I do, however, remember watching Disney's One Saturday Morning back in the '90s.

      For 25 years since I started watching Cartoon Network from my childhood years in late 1997 with Dexter's Laboratory. The exact same year that I started watching Nickelodeon with Hey Arnold at the age of 6. Now 25 years later in my early 30s, I cannot believe that I have spent my time watching the cartoons that I know and love.

      I know my wish is granted because of Checkered Past on Adult Swim. But these are entertaining, wacky, and absolutely fun. But that’s not to say the CN City and afterwards were decent
      PS, I was born around the time these bumpers were being replaced for CN City. So I grew up with Noods and early Check It.

    Seeing these bumpers makes us feel that we need "another Cartoon Network", one for classic shows from the golden age and city era that we knew and loved as opposed to shows that we have now. I have always wanted Boomerang to be its own channel for classic shows, but they also changed it. Bottom line: we need a new Cartoon Network channel, a separate one.

    Lots of people say that the golden age was the powerhouse era. I feel that it was the city era. Simply because cartoon network had a HUGE amount of programs. They had everything from Ed Edd N' Eddy to Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi. While some of the programs weren't the best. (Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi). i feel that was when cn had the most variety in there shows. I may feel this way because i remember the city era the most.

      ToonamiVHS There's even some folks born in the late 80's or very early 90's who'll say that the 1999-2001 years of the Powerhouse Era were better than the 2002 & 2003 years of it. I guess it all comes down to preference though and your best memories of Cartoon Network. See, I think it's very important which years of elementary school you were in while the era was going on. Here's my opinion on this:
      Look at the Powerhouse Era, it still remains as the longest running era lasting for 7 years from 1997-2004. Every single year of that era. New episodes of Cartoon Cartoons premiering regularly on Cartoon Cartoon Fridays like Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo, Cow & Chicken, Powerpuff Girls, Ed Edd n Eddy, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Sheep in the Big City, Time Squad, Grim & Evil, etc. along with the feels of experiencing Toonami in its max popularity on the weekday afternoons with Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, Gundam Wing, Yu Yu Hakusho, Zoids, Batman Beyond, etc. The full balance of classic cartoons like Looney Tunes, The Flintstones, Tom & Jerry, Acme Hour, Toonheads, Popeye, etc. Not to mention reruns of Kids WB classics like Animaniacs, Batman: TAS, Tiny Toon Adventures, or Jackie Chan Adventures.
      The Powerhouse Era's bumpers and promos in each of its blocks, and the era had a *full balance" of shows and blocks that most importantly appealed to ALL demographics, kids, teens, and adults. Also for most of the time Cartoon Network was still 24 hours and there was barely any [adult swim] taking over the schedule yet. If you go into detail of all the promos, jokes, antics, spoofs, and stuff that Toonami and CCF did during its prime. Not just the shows but in between the commercials as well. Special events like the Super Bowl Specials between classic cartoon characters like Tom vs. Jerry or Sylvester vs. Tweety. The Cartoon Cartoon Weekend BIG PICK's and Summerfests year by year. Toonami Midnight Run, Intruder, Cyberspace, etc. It goes really deep. The Powerhouse Era was truly the real peak Cartoon Network. Not even the Checkerboard Era (1992-1997) can top the Powerhouse either.
      The City Era was great too, however, if you weigh the pros and cons, the Powerhouse Era was definitely the better era. The City Era had great variety too, however, there were some ups and downs with it compared to the Powerhouse when it was originally going on. I notice a lot of teens all over TH-cam posting on how great the City Era was who really don't know a single damn thing about the Powerhouse Era or only vaguely remembers some of the era. It's crazy. Compare the City Era to NOW, oh the City Era is Godly I'd take CN City any day over the Nood or CHECK it eras. But compare the City Era to the Powerhouse Era, then you have a *death match* here. There's much more to it, but I'll say one thing that one of the City Era's biggest weaknesses which to this day cringes me, is that it only lasted for 2 years here in the U.S., and after those 2 years were over Cartoon Network with its Yes & Fall eras would begin to turn for the worse on all levels. The Powerhouse Era lasted for a great 7 years and in those 7 years they did so many great things nonstop. Look at Cartoon Cartoons like Dexter's Lab, Powerpuff Girls, Ed Edd n Eddy, or Johnny Bravo, look at how long those lasted up. City Era shows like Life & Times of Juniper Lee or My Gym Partner's A Monkey, were not as successful and as a result ended so soon. There's more to it, but that's all I got for now. These articles might help you out though >>>>>

      mqgTWO96 Thanks for the reply. I will agree with you that the powerhouse era was great. Form the promos i've seen on youtbe, and my few memories of it, it was amazing. However, i still like the feel of cn city. it felt like all the cartoons were not just on the network, it felt like the cartoons where the network. About your comment on the yes and fall eras. They were terrible, but that isn't a drawback to cn city. It just shows that was the last amazing era. I understand you love the powerhouse era more. I like the city era more. I think it just cause that's when i watched lots of cartoon network. we can all agree that the city era was cn's last amazing era.
      Oh, Do you feel that if cn had 1 live action show during the 07 era, i mean just one, and they didn't make the network revolve around reailty shows, then do you think it would have been more accepted?
      I think that it was a kinda cool idea for cn to try something new, but you can't just change your channel over night ya know. I''m not saying that i like the reality shows those sucked. i'm just saying, would it have been more acceptable to air 1 show like that? as long as they didn't change the whole network?

    • @mqgTWO96
      @mqgTWO96  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ToonamiVHS Well keep in mind, the main eras of Cartoon Network that I really enjoyed throughout my core childhood years were the Powerhouse & City eras. Not saying that I didn't enjoy the City Era, I really loved the City Era's bumpers and the events it put out too. You still had Ed, Edd n Eddy, Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Codename: KND, and not to mention how amazing Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends was. Toonami on Saturdays started off epic with Teen Titans and Justice League Unlimited. Miguzi was amazing. The Summer 2005 event was one of the greatest moments. Reruns of Cartoon Cartoons were still played on some occasions although put in bad time-slots at the time. I believe What's New Scooby-Doo and Duck Dodgers were still around too.
      It's just that I prefer the Powerhouse Era the most that's all. The City Era was not my favorite era because when I weigh the pros and cons the City Era was missing some stuff that the Powerhouse Era had. 2004 was like a bittersweet year for Cartoon Network, the year the City Era began but at the same time some changes occurred that I didn't like, due to the removal of classics like Looney Tunes, the cancellation of SVES and Toonami getting moved to Saturdays only (although didn't bother me that much I liked Miguzi), and Cartoon Cartoons like Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo, Time Squad, and Powerpuff Girls coming to an end, only to be pushed to late night/early morning time slots around late 2004/early 2005, and by 2006 those could only been found on the Cartoon Cartoon Show/Top 5 block.
      Other than that I still enjoyed the City Era, it's 2nd tier to me. It's just that the Powerhouse Era was the best for me especially 2002 Cartoon Network. The Yes Era from 2006-2007 was probably the very last time I remember watching Cartoon Network for the shows that were still there like Foster's Home, Codename: KND, Ed Edd n Eddy, and Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy. But it was already on and off for me by then. By the time the Fall Era was in full swing Cartoon Network was completely dead to me and has been irrelevant ever since. The only Cartoon Network show I'll tune into now on rare occasions is Regular Show.
      John478 Agree with me on this topic too, any thoughts?

    • @toonamivhs4176
      @toonamivhs4176 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      mqgTWO96 I understand i hated the fall and yes eras. But i love the city era the mot. Also, here is the thing. by 04, many of the cartoon cartoons like johnny bravo, powerpuff girls, and dexters lab needed to end. They were running out of ideas, and there time was up. the network needed to have a new look. I'm not saying that those shows were bad i love all the cartoon cartoons. I stopped watching cn around the time teen titans was canceled, and cn city was over. The only time i tune on to cartoon network now is for sonic boom. It is a great show. thanks for replying man. I fully respect your opinions, however, i love the city era. You have to remember, i was born in 98, and i really started watching cn sometme late into the powerhouse era. i just remember bumps for Grim and Evil, Johnny Bravo, KND, and Robot Jones. That may give you an idea of when i started watching cn.
      I'm also wondering did Megas XLR have any powerhouse bumpers?

    • @mqgTWO96
      @mqgTWO96  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ToonamiVHS Oh my goodness, I forgot about Megas XLR too, that aired regularly during the transition from Powerhouse to City, since it was cancelled towards the beginning of 2005, and no Megas XLR had no Powerhouse bumpers. Codename: KND premiered towards the end of 2002 which had the last set of Powerhouse bumpers ever made. Also, that makes since that you started watching Cartoon Network around late 2003, because I started around 2001 and that's the year I started Kindergarten. Most people's memories start to crystallize around 5 1/2 or 6 in Kindergarten, and usually before you start Kindergarten. You are at the toddler, preschool, or pre-K stage and your memories are only vague ones or glimpses, and most people are watching preschool shows on Nick Jr., PBS Kids, or Playhouse Disney at the time. Once you start Kindergarten that's when you start to grow out of those preschool shows and move on to big kid channels like Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, or Disney Channel. For you that wouldn't be until around late 2003 or early 2004 since you were born in 1998. For most of the people around my age range (late 1995-1996) that's late 2001 or early 2002. That's probably why, but I respect your opinion. Like I said, my favorite year of the Powerhouse Era was 2002, but I know some folks a few years older than me who think that 1999 & 2000 were better years for the Powerhouse Era rather than 2002. So it varies and comes down to people's preferences.

I think I briefly remember the CN City era, but that was it. Somewhere a few years ago, I went to the CN Wiki, and found out the Checkerboard era and the Powerhouse era. Let me say that the Powerhouse era looked like where CN really had it. It had a variety of cartoons that I never even knew they were in this channel! Again, I wish I would've not grew up with the Fall and Noods era. The CHECK it era is better though. Though, I don't really watch CN anymore. (Or TV in general.)

    Born in 1999.
    I do faintly remember watching Cartoonnetwork with the logo, right before it switched to CN. But CN city was ultimately the peak of my childhood. After CN city, it slowly fell. Chowder & Flapjack were good but nothing like the other cartoons. Chowder did become a classic to me, while Flapjack is cringey to watch now.
    I tried adapting from 2009 and onwards but by 2012 & 2013, I was done.
    Annoying Orange was stupid asf
    I did slightly enjoy Gumball, Regular Show, Adventure Time, Looney Tunes Show, Scooby Doo, Total Drama World Tour from that era.
    After that I was done. And not even 13 lol

    Sad that kids of this generation get to look back at shit like "Yoursday" and other stupid meme shit. We have the internet, we can watch whatever we want whenever...but it doesn't have heart and soul.
    Up to a point CN made (or ordered) new animations for these characters in scenarios that didn't exist in the original shows...today a bunch of toddlers and tweens on face cam say "we love gumball!" and get "regular time & adventure show!". So much effort right?

Seriously, being born on October 11, 2003 means I was able to enjoy a lot of REAL good stuff from the past. I can say that Late 2003 to now will be considered the good ol’ days for me. mqgTWO96: To be brutally honest with you, the Powerhouse era from July 16th, 1997 to March 2003 was the era's prime. Now, the remaining period: March 2003 - June 14th, 2004 was not bad. But, it was a clear sign that things were changing. The announcer's wittiness, one-liners that are still funny, the characters encouraging you were some of the many reasons why the first stint is preferred by many fans. I will not say that the next version didn't have any fans, because it did. But, compared to what had preceded it, many fans felt differently. I once heard a fan say, 'Powerhouse from March 2003 to the end sucks!' I just said, 'It may not have been perfect, but hey, compared it some of the more modern era's, it's definitely a step up.' Now, back on to the subject at hand...we must never forget what Powerhouse gave us. It gave us more Cartoon Cartoons excluding the ones that had been premiered in Checkerboard on World Premiere Toons (now, "What A Cartoon"). It also helped to expand the network's variety so now there was more original programming. Plus, animated cartoons such as Pokemon were making their way onto the Cartoon Network scene.

    • @mqgTWO96
      @mqgTWO96  9 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Jessica Black Yeah, you're right, and do you know 100% that March 2003 was when the Powerhouse music changed? Or was it January 2003?
      Anyways, yeah, by 2003, the original bumpers that featured the wacky Powerhouse theme mixed in with all the theme shows, the enthusiastic voices and jokes in between commercials, and the colors for the time of the day, were all removed and changed up.
      At the time, the original Powerhouse music was taken out of all the bumpers. The "Coming Up Next" bumpers used background music from "The Tex Avery Show", "The Scooby-Doo Show", "Ed, Ed n Eddy", "Real Adventures of Jonny Quest", or some other background music.
      The "We'll Be Right Back" & "Back to the Show" bumpers used its own generic themes/background music from its own TV shows instead of it being mixed with the original Powerhouse music.
      The new voiceover guy, Doug Preis, took over about every single bumper instead of the original energetic voices or action voiceovers for the right bumpers. Doug Preis was not energetic at all and he just said "We'll Be Right Back" "and now back to...." and no type of jokes in between the bumpers.
      There was no longer a specific color during the day. The colors were misplaced and mixed over all over the place and randomly used anytime during the day. There were mainly blue bumpers being used only. Purple was still used for action. The only yellow bumpers that were still in use were the “Coming Up Next” ones. The "Super Next" bumper was only used for hour long programming. The green and black/dark blue bumpers were completely gone and phased out. So by 2003 most of the bumpers were practically blue ones only.

      ***** I will be blunt. The second interpretation of the City era, known as the YES! era was a piece of burnt shit on the side of Interstate 10 in rural Texas. Besides, the most obvious issue with the block in question being the over-hyped use of the word, "Yes!", another major setback, was the sheer lack of quality control for the cartoons. Sure, the era had a few gems, but the gems don't do enough to clean the block of its nastiness. Now, I can honestly say that, had they stuck with the original vision, then the block would be a smashing knock out as one of the best, but, suffice to say it, the second half was a disappointment. Yes, I could say, it didn't exist, but then that would be cheating, and I'm not big on the cheating concept when analyzing Cartoon Network's history.

    Why is this era so underrated these days? All people talk about is the City era, but this era had the most variety in programming, plus CCF. The powerhouse era had something for everybody. The City era is actually when CN started going down the drain in terms of it's programming because that was the era when they got rid of the HB classics and the Cartoon Cartoons started phasing out. I'm assuming that most of the people that think that the City era was the best, most likely missed the Powerhouse era.

    Now that i've seen this awesome vid all the way thru i can't help but feel alittle bit that something is missing with it. Don't get me wrong this is awesome but i've realized something after rewatching my fav CN City super-long vid. That shows not only the coming up next/later bumpers but also alot of other random stuff like random bumpers like "Bad Car Day" or advertisements for shows or bumpers of the various blocks it did like CartoonTheater, or "FreshCartoons" or even for different times of the year like during summer 05 with all the sweet summer bumps.
    Would be so sweet if you could somehow fuse these next bumpers with stuff maybe like Cartoon Theater bumps, CCF bumps, Christmas powerhouse bumps, with especially some powerhouse bumper favorites stuffed in there like "Sick Day" or "Convenience Store" or "Day in Townsvile" or "Parking lot" or even "Ugh" lol, guess what im saying is to just go nuts with the assortment, putting just random bump after random bump so it all feels a normal Old CN day. Of course if and when you can of course. As always man keep up the sweet work!

      TheTimon64 Alright man thanks for watching. I've really appreciated your support. I already have some Christmas Powerhouse bumpers in this video, and yes I will be uploading more Powerhouse bumpers soon. There are other rare colors and voice-over variants out there too that I've just discovered recently, I haven't done my Holiday Powerhouse complication video yet, but there aren't enough bumpers yet I'll wait until I find some more. I'm responsible for uploading the Powerhouse bumpers only. But if I make another custom schedule then maybe I'll include the Cartoon Theater and CCF bumpers in there too.
      Ok, so make sure you go click on my channel and be sure to check out some more updates and videos I have. Plus, here's some new videos I've put together that you might find interesting. Tell me what you think, and also, what did you think of the Powerhouse intro reversed towards the end of my video LOL!

    mqgTWO96 Thank you for uploading these classic Cartoon Network memories for the masses to enjoy. I showed these to my little sister who is 6 and she looked at then looked at the Cartoon Network bumpers of the current era, which is 'CHECK it', and she looked at the Powerhouse Era, then back at 'CHECK it', and looked at me and said, 'Big sissy Jessica, where's the creativeness at? I don't see it, when I watch the TV.' I looked at her and said, 'Well sis, if you were older, you would have seen Cartoon Network in its prime. Back when I was coming up from 1992 - 2006, Cartoon Network was a very fun television network to watch, the originality was there, and the clear wittiness and zaniness made Cartoon Network worth watching. These days, I feel sad for those who are exposed to the current 'CHECK it' era. While, we do have some decent shows like 'Adventure Time', and 'Regular Show', I was exposed to shows that catered to a larger demographic.' She looked at me and blew a raspberry at the TV and stayed next to me as we watched several of your Checkerboard Era videos and she just sat there and enjoyed every single one of them.

      Jessica Black You're welcome Jessica!! I'm certainly glad that your 6 year old sister enjoyed the old CN bumpers that I've uploaded and she thought they were better lol, but that's not all, of course, there was much more to it back in the day! Thanks for watching, and the Powerhouse Era (1997-2004) was also my favorite era too. I didn't start watching Cartoon Network until 2000 but for me 2000-early 2004 was when the channel was at its full peak or golden age. I really liked the City Era too from 2004-early 2006 (despite the lack of classics), those were great times as well. Perfect blend of Cartoon Cartoons, original programming, anime, action shows, classics like Looney Tunes, etc. blocks like CCF/Fridays, Toonami, Primetime, Miguzi, Boomeraction, old [adult swim], Cartoon Cartoon Show, etc.
      Yeah, the CHECK it Era today is not that bad, I've liked the original shows from this era, but the severe lack of variety, repetitive schedule, and barely any blocks still makes the channel lame to this day. I miss the Powerhouse/City eras from 1997-2006.
      Anyways, since you're referring to Cartoon Network's prime as 1992-2006 (which I definitely agree with 100%), what was your favorite time period in Cartoon Network's history, Checkerboard Era (1992-1997), Powerhouse Era (1997-2004), or City Era (2004-2006)?

    • @JessicaKasumi1990

      mqgTWO96
      Well, here's how I rank each one.
      1. Powehouse Era (1997 - 2004) and City Era (2004 - 2006), tied for Number 1.
      2. Checkerboard Era (1992 - 1997)

    • @mqgTWO96
      @mqgTWO96  9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Jessica Black Awesome! That's great! Ok, so here's my opinion on all of the eras.
      *Checkerboard Era (1992-1997): Early Age*, CN was a new channel, the first 24 hour channel in TV history, and there were mostly just Hanna-Barbera/MGM reruns then, Space Ghost Coast to Coast & the What A Cartoon Show are what changed this channel forever, it brought originals on to the network, however, around this time, FOX Kids & Nickelodeon were still the dominant networks though. I respect this era a lot for setting up Cartoon Network for the greatness that was about to come.
      *Powerhouse Era (1997-2004): Golden Age*, this is when CN started to make it's major debut, dominated all the networks, it was the best place for cartoons, CN was in its true prime in this era and had a full mixture of blocks, classics, originals, anime, acquisitions, and shorts that appealed to a huge audience of all ages, CCF, Primetime, Toonami everyday, etc. It felt like the channel was mainly about cartoons more than anything. Also, this was my favorite era too, it's the first era I grew up with, and I thought during this time CN had the most variety of cartoons to choose from. In this era we had Cartoon Cartoons like Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo, Cow & Chicken, PPG, Ed, Edd n Eddy (my favorite CN show of all time too) Courage the Cowardly Dog, Grim & Evil, Sheep in the Big City, Time Squad, etc. We had all the great anime on Toonami. THe ONLY era Toonami was on everyday except Sundays. Weekday afternoon block and Saturday midnight run! Primetime's jazzy music was awesome, and I loved all the bumpers too! Later in this era we had Justice League and Batman Beyond, which were awesome cartoons. This era was so amazing seeing all your random favorite cartoons, you'd never know what be coming up next! I loved how after CCF on Saturdays you could watch your favorite movies on Cartoon Theater and many Looney Tunes shorts as well. This era had a large library of original programming, acquisitions, action shows, anime, and classics to choose from all on one channel. Cartoon Network had that cartoony feel during the Powerhouse Era!!! The GOLDEN AGE of CN hands down! We can all agree that this era was the best!
      *City Era (2004-2006): Silver Age*, My 2nd favorite era, a perfect transition after the Powerhouse ended couldn't have came at a better time, sure, there were many changes, but there was still lots of variety of great cartoons to choose from on the network, the best summer known as "Summer 2005" came from this era, the most original programming in CN's history aired all at once in this era, and many acquisitions as well. Of course, we had Miguzi block with action shows like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003), Code Lyoko, and I had a crush on the Totally Spies lol! We still had many Cartoon Cartoons that showed reruns from time to time as separate shows or on the Top 5 block. Ed, Edd n Eddy was still around. We had Grim Adventure of Billy & Mandy and Codename: Kids Next Door. Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends was pretty good and Camp Lazlo too. Keep in mind, Teen Titans, Justice League Unlimited, and Duck Dodgers reached its max popularity throughout this era. My biggest gripe with the City Era despite how amazing and creative this venue was, that it was waaay too short for only two years. That still cringes me to this day. Plus some classics were taken off the air and could be seen on BOOM only. Some of the original shows from this era weren't as good as the ones that debuted during the Powerhouse. Toonami being on Saturday nights only was ok with me, but the anime that was offered was still really great, like Naruto, One Piece, Yu Yu Hakusho, BoBoBo was hilarious!!!! This era was overall a great one!
      *YES! Era (2006-2007): Bronze Age/Decline*, CN slowly began to decline and start getting out of its originality. The Cartoon Cartoons by this time could only been seen on the Cartoon Cartoon Show or Top 5 block. Out of Jimmy's Head Re-animated movie started in this era, the low quality shows started in this era imo, and as soon as 2007 started, Boston Bomb Scare occurred, and we all know what happened when Stuart Snyder became president, TOM 4 made his debut in Toonami as well. Of course during this era we still had Codename: Kids Next Door, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Camp Lazlo, and Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy thank God. Xaolin Showdown started showing reruns in this era too! However, many shows started getting played over and over again I noticed and the network started to slowly lose variety. However, overall, CN was still watchable in this era and Toonami was still pretty good, but sadly CN's decline started here which was noticeable.
      *Fall A.K.A. "Fall is Something That Grownups Invented" Era (2007-2008): start of Dark Age*, with all the other events that occurred in the previous era leading up to this one, many original shows and blocks ended, the live-action stuff started here, Fried Dynamite/Dynamite Action Squad replaced Fridays after its long 8 year run, Cartoon Theatre got replaced by live-action flicks, by this time, the writing on the wall was clear, and CN made no attempts to hide what they were becoming. They were no longer interested in being an animation channel, they were now trying to be Nickelodeon/Disney Channel clone. Plus, most of the shows from this era (with the exception of Chowder in 2007) just weren't very good. This era also produced the infamous Out of Jimmy's Head turned into a series. The latter seemed better suited for a general kids' entertainment network than an animation network, and as the former, randomness does not equal funny or creative in my book. This was the worst era in Cartoon Network history in my opinion, tied with the Noods, which I'll explain next.
      *Nood Era (2008-2010): Dark Age*, about as bad as the Fall Era when you think about it, the Nood bumpers as a concept was a great idea, but CN Real took over the network in this era, which was unacceptable because live-action reality shows don't belong on a network meant for cartoons, more blocks cancelled like Toonami, no CN originals premiered throughout 2009, the Nood bumper concept was a decent idea, but the fact that there were many Canadian shows spamming up the network and too many live-action shows on a network meant for cartoons killed this era for me. The only decent shows from this era I remember were Chowder, Flapjack, and Total Drama seasons 1-3 only. The action shows like Batman: Brave & the Bold and Star Wars: The Clone Wars were OK, but don't stand up to the same level as the ones from the Powerhouse/City eras though.
      *CHECK IT! Era (2010-present): Revival Age*, this era has made some really good decisions at times, but really bad ones at times too, CN is better than it was during the Fall/Nood eras, but still has waaays to go. There have been great shows in this era, like Adventure Time, Regular Show, Amazing World of Gumball, Steven Universe, Clarence, and much more. Of course, we've had some great gems that had more potential like Sym-biotic Titan, Young Justice, Generator Rex, and Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc, but those were pushed to death time slots and cancelled way too soon, due to the way CN treated it. I wish Cartoon Planet never got cancelled either. Best of all, a much improved Toonami had returned in this era on adult swim. So overall, this era has been better than the Fall/Nood eras when its come to the shows. But however, look at their schedule right now, it's really bad, and I'm not joking, I'm dead serious. They overplay the same shows over and over again, it's not TTGO/Gumball/Clarence network, it's Cartoon Network, have some variety that can appeal to all audiences like they used too. Adult Swim starts way too early as well. Thank God Stuart Synder is gone now, and for Christina Miller, I know she can do it, but sadly I feel like the channel is too damaged now ;(. CN in this era has been only trying to climb back on its heels since its death in 2007. This era is better than the previous one, but it still has ways to go.
      So here are my favorite CN eras from best to worst imo. Not just the bumpers but also the shows too.
      1. Powerhouse: 1997-2004 (Golden Age)
      2. City: 2004-2006 (Silver Age)
      3. Checkerboard: 1992-1997 (Early Age)
      4. CHECK it: 2010-present
      5. YES!: 2006-2007 (Bronze Age/Decline)
      6. Fall/Noods 2007-2010 (Dark Age A.K.A. Fried Dynamite/CN Real/Live Action Era)
      So btw, when did you first start watching Cartoon Network? Around mid-2000 is when I started watching it on a regular basis.

The first time I ever put my eyes on Cartoon Network was around late 1999, but from mid-2000 and on I watched in on a regular basis. Powerhouse/City eras FTW! So anyways, when did you think Cartoon Network started going downhill or when it died! IMO, when the YES! Era debuted in 2006, that's when the channel begin to go downhill for me, but 2007 when the Fall Era came marked the death of the channel when it hit rock bottom. I'd say things have been getting better since 2010/2011, but still won't be as good as the Checkerboard, Powerhouse, or City eras again.

      Honestly, industry executives underestimate the power of nostalgia. They have no idea how much of a killing they’d make with viewership and financially if they just started airing all the old stuff again like they used to. Little kids don’t really care what they watch. They enjoy almost anything animated that is on TV. Imagine if people of all age groups were tuning into the channel. Unfortunately, I think the original source material for the bumpers got destroyed, so this would all be lost media if people hadn’t taped it on VHS.

      Carlos Medrano Good times man, 2002 overall will always be my favorite year in Cartoon Network history, or at least fall 2001 through summer 2002 will always be my favorite season, seeing new episodes of Cartoon Cartoons on Cartoon Cartoon Fridays. Plus new episodes of Justice League and Samurai Jack were around at the time as well. Primetime weeknights with your favorite Cartoon Cartoons like Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo, Time Squad, Ed, Edd n Eddy, Courage the Cowardly Dog, etc. and classics like Scooby-Doo or Tom & Jerry, listening to that jazz music background with the cartoon characters in the bubbles, Toonami that year with Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Batman Beyond and Powerpuff Girls. 2002 Cartoon Network had tons of Looney Tunes and Cartoon Theatre on Saturdays. Tons of Groovies and primecuts in between commercials like you mentioned. The channel was still 24 hours on most days. 2002 was a special year for me as well, looking back, it'll always be my favorite year of the Powerhouse Era, or best year in Cartoon Network's entire history for me.

    This is the Cartoon Network I remember from my youth. Nonstop hours of Hanna Barbera, MGM and Warner Bros cartoons in addition to the brand new cartoons they had during this period : The Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory, Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken, Courage The Cowardly Dog and Ed Edd N Eddy. I'll never forget that time, those cartoons were awesome !! 2004 was when it all started to suck ass.

      I say 2007 is when it started to suck ass (2006 was the decline) It's debatable. Both the Powerhouse and City eras were good. Some people enjoyed Hanna-Barbera cartoons, but not everybody did. Most people liked the Cartoon Cartoons though, which were the main shows that kept Cartoon Network's ratings going well. Cartoon Cartoons were still around during the City. The Powerhouse Era was nearly perfect though. The City Era had its ups and downs but was still a great time overall.
