    Took the plunge and bought a heap when I was in the states before heading back home to New Zealand- loving it, the Ambient is hands down the best bit of gear I've ever owned and the Cloudburst rain gear is mint too! Lived in it for a 9 day chamois hunt and it didn't leak

    Great video! I've never been happier with my hunting/outdoor experiences today bc of your gear. It's changed my life of how I layer along with the materials sitka uses.... Best choice I've ever made

    The ambient is probably my favorite clothing along with mountain pants. I have ambient in black so I can use it outside of hunting, but still use it as my warm layer.

    Taking time to explain the why behind a product or system makes a big difference for customers and it’s appreciated.

    The thing i have learned over the years and is extremely crucial. Is that in order to get best results and have your gear work as its designed to do. Is you gotta start from your base layer and all the way up to your rain gear. If you just throw like a long sleeve shirt on and say some long johns or a cotton hoody your literally killing ur system and not ever going to experience what your gear is designed to do. I learned this the hard way starting out and thought dang my gear isnt good but it was all because of what i was wearing in between layers. I love sitka and elkaholics will always rep sitka. They are truely the best on the market and i also love what the company stands for and represents. John barklow is the king of technical clothing systems and his intellingence when it comes to this shows greatly in sitka products. If your debating buying sitka gear i would encourage you to do so. And this is coming from an unpaid unsponsered company that uses there products

    I never thought about a wind proof layer until I heard John talk about it on a podcast. So i ordered a mountain evo jacket and WOW, what a difference it makes when the wind is blowing. I will always have it with me from now on. Keep the information coming for us please.

    What about an ambient for people that don’t like wearing full zips? Why discontinue the ambient hoody?

    Does the windstopper top need to be over the static insulation when used in conjunction? That’s the only thing I’ve never heard John discuss anywhere…

    • @SITKAGear
      @SITKAGear  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The windstopper does not need to be the outer shell- it can be worn on top or under insulated layers to protect you from the wind. We appreciate the support. 🤝

      That specific shirt is discontinued and was called the Harvester Flannel, but similar options are the Grange Flannel and Bridger Flannel.

    Ambient vs Merino 330 for the Wasatch? Anyone have experience with both.

    • @SITKAGear
      @SITKAGear  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Scotty, the Ambient and the 330 have similar benefits to adding active insulation to your system. The Merino 330 is going to offer a wicking layer to wick moisture and odor. The Ambient Jacket offers active insulation, and its biggest benefit is its ability to adapt--it traps heat while you're sitting and breathes more efficiently than static insulation while you're on the move.
