I use the same exact layering system with the same pieces with 1 difference. I bought the Ambient 100 hooded jacket....game changer over top of my fanatic. I wear those with my Stratus Bibs with the sides open to vent, til I get setup into my saddle, then I throw my Stratus jacket on... super warm even into the teens, even with the wind blowing. good video man. I use my military grid fleece for layering when the temps drop too. Works out perfectly. Right when you mentioned layers underneath I was like I just use my waffles lol
Haven't gotten into the base layers and such. I use the Under Armour Base 3.0 crew and leggings when it gets to that time. Early season I wear the Equinox pants with the core lightweight crew shirt. I always carry the Fanatic Hoodie. When it drops, I go with the Stratus bibs, Fanatic hoodie, and a combination of the Ambient jacket and Jetstream jacket. The stuff isn't cheap. But it does what it's supposed to do!!!
For single digit or negative temp all day sits... Top- Pnuma core heated vest (has saved from leaving early many times), sitka merino 330 base, ambient jacket, duck oven, incinerator jacket Bottom- sitka merino 330 base, midi pants, incinerator bibs Extras- sitka flip mitts, neck gaiter, heavy face mask, and stocking cap Two best in my opinion... 1. Duck oven (warmest jacket made, just make sure you put it on at your stand or you will sweat in 10 steps / wish it came in camo so I didn't have to use it as mid layer) 2. Midi pants - Best mid layer pants inhave ever tried
The cheapest way to get into Sitka...lol... there is no cheap way to get into Sitka!. But once you do get into it, there is definitely no going back. It is the best stuff out there, and you are paying for it. Great video. As for me, I am Merino over synthetic every day.
Cheapest way to get into Sitka is to just buy the stratus bibs and jacket, and Fanatic hoodie and a beanie. you can wear whatever you want under it. However, I went deep down the Sitka rabbit hole. I’m 10+ years into my Sitka collection and have well over $10K invested. However I hunt more than most people. And my sub alpine western big game / Turkey gear differs from my EV2 treestand whitetail gear.
I am addicted to their new core Merino 120, 220, and 330. I had all of their older merino line for a few season. They new core merino night and day better
I personally think Kuiu has superior pants compared to Sitka, but the Stratus bibs are one of my first and favorite pieces in my Sitka system. Core warmth is out of this world when you wear the midi underneath the bibs
Just wondering what pattern is your garments are? Also, what are the reasons you chose them (Pattern) ? I am a michigan bow and rifle hunter from Oct. 1 to Jan. 1. Thanks for the review. Great video!
Subalpine except for the vest, that’s elevated II. In my opinion, and from some research done online, the subalpine blends the best using methods portraying how deer see.
The ambient jacket replaced the Celsius midi… even lighter, more packable, more breathable and somehow warmer… I have both and never thought I’d like a jacket more than the midi but I bought the ambient for western hunting more active insulation and now the Celsius midi is unfortunately going to be a backup. Dead quiet as well
awesome video man. Look forward to the next one.
I appreciate it!
Celsius Midi Pants are a must when it gets cold here in Wisconsin!

I agree with everything you use 100%. I'm also in PA, eastern side. Great video!
Nice man! What part of PA? Lebanon here

Right on. I def. think i'm going to try out the merino this fall.
Unfortunately the merino doesn't fit as well as the synthetic stuff does. The merino tends to be a bit more loose

The new core merino 120, 220, and 330.
Have them all. They all have their purpose.
Great review! Which Sitka pants would you recommend for an all season pant out west? (60s anywhere down to low teens/snow)
Great review. I was wondering if you ended to increase size due to layering
Nope! I wear a large top and medium bottoms for all my layers and I haven't had an issue with anything being too tight.

Same here, does anyone know what pattern he is using?

Cold smoke in a trash bag and let it set overnight.
Gets all odors out for me.
X2 on the damn velcro on the hat! Lol
