  • A long-lost set of chairs have been returned to their castle home 101 years after they were sold at auction.
    The 12 walnut seats were carved for the Wynn family of Gwydir Castle in the 17th Century.
    Ian Lang reports from Gwydir Castle for ITV Wales news

    Many years ago I took my Mum to stay for a couple of nights in this amazing castle. We had the Duke's room and I thoroughly recommend a stay to everybody. Words and photos/videos just don't do it justice...

    The Wynn family were ancestors of mine from my paternal grandmother's side. We visited Wales many years ago but unfortunately I didn't know about the castle or the connection back then,. I have the book titled Castles in the Air by Judy Corbett which is very interesting. Loved watching this video.

    Beautiful area. My mom was born in Llanfrothen, right next to snowdon.

    Paneling & architectural elements that migrated to the United States are likely in the exact same room /building as when installed. However, they may be behind layers of other materials like paint, wallpaper or designs from post-WWII thru the 1970s.

      I'd say it gone, as in destroyed.

    Have you tried looking at/ in Hearst Castle for items? The state of California If I am not mistaken now owns Hearst Castle if not one of the Hearst family members You should really come see Hearst Castle for proper identification of any items 🌹

      It wasn't in Hearst Castle, but I would imagine that's the first place they contacted when looking for it.

    I am jealous! Have you contacted Hearst Castle in San Simeon California? Maybe reach out to his family?

      I am sure they have. I believe the NY home was demolished and it is likely lost to time.

    I find these old castles being furnished as they used to be VERY depressing.

    I could see some American with a boatload of cash buying the NY apartment and having it gutted replaced with a modern style.

    • @SR-iy4gg
      @SR-iy4gg ปีที่แล้ว

      I doubt that. Anyone buying it would be told what it was and most likely would have bought it largely for that reason or would have sold it to someone else.

      No, just a few wrinkles, but aging very gracefully.

      This is more Tudor manor home than fortified castle hence no crenilations for archers to hide behind.
