Funny thing about Mr. Grizz’s is that his plan was hinted back before Splatoon 2 was even release during a Nintendo Direct back in 2017 where the infomercial for Salmon Run had the captions _“Want to change the world”_ , _“Creating a better future for tomorrow”_ and _“At Grizzco Industries, a brighter future awaits!”_
*His plan was staring us in the face for over 5 years.*

Another mindblowing thing was that there was a salmon run stage in Splat2 called "Ruins of Ark Polaris" which no one really cared about its background at first. *Then the postgame alterna log in the third game MENTIONS said Ark Polaris and how its related to Mr. Grizz, which would explain why its a salmon run stage in the first place*

I’m honestly really glad that this story mode followed the octo expansion design philosophy instead of the previously maingames ones,it makes most of the levels really really fun!
it also removes the insane grind to do EVERY level with EVERY weapon from splatoon 2

Yeah, but for me, It might have been a little TOO similar to Octo Expansion. It didn't feel like it did anything new with the idea, beyond the new weapons and such. It's still the best Hero Mode by far, but I do think I like Octo Expansion a bit more because of its novelty.
Plus, the leadup and climax of Octo Expansion is some of the best in any game ever, as far as I'm concerned.

Sure the idea of a final boss as a turf war is really cool, Just the execution didn't feel that monuments. Maybe they could have made the ink permanent so they could add enemies without destroying the lore. If only man, either way octo expansion is my favorite campaign

Honestly, really refreshing to hear that someone even prefers the story mode over multiplayer! Soooo many people just skip over it and as a big fan it hurts my heart a little ahah
The story mode was the first thing that I gravitated to and I 100% completed it (except doing every weapon in every level) in a few days, it was fun
The only thing I have left to do in story (including already having sub-3 minute’d every level) is the other two weapons in OneWayRideThroughTargetTown

But I do agree with him, this series so fucking badly deserves so much more love than it gets here in the west. The artstyle,the aesthetic, the music, sound design, characters, character design, story, lore, gameplay, mechanics, just.....all of it is so, so God damn incredible, and unique, and has so much attention to detail, care, love, and genuine passion put into it by its developers. Splatoon has quickly become my favorite Nintendo franchise for very good reason, and I so badly want more people to feel the same way.

the final battle of this game always gets me so hyped, no matter who i’m watching playing it like- octavio coming in clutch, deep cut and the squid sisters hyping you up, Lil Buddy becoming a Beeg buddy, and then your character, no matter what they look like, standing there on the battlefield with a determined expression….there is nothing that can top that moment when you stare into the eyes of Mr. Grizz knowing that this will be his last fight (i love this game sm-)

A fun thing to think about is that In Japan, Mr. Grizz is overly nice (cultural difference, bad/sketchy jobs tend to have bosses that mask themselves as overly nice or something) so his teddybear face probably matches mover there.
I got flashbacks when I saw that electric goo pattern during the Big Man fight, but I'm also super happy they made a Mario Sunshine reference there. Big Man is objectively the best addition to the series

the levels you have to do:
the 4 crater levels(at 4)
dj octavio(at 5)
the 3 main bosses(at 8)
the 5 rocket escape levels(at 13)
both phases of mr grizz(at 14 or 15 depending on how you count it)
so, you need to beat 14-15 levels to beat splatoon 3. you can get power eggs from the level even if you don’t finish the level, so the first alterna level is actually optional
The Sunshine manta-ray actually jump-scared me lol, I was that dumb kid who loved sunshine sucked at it and was quickly gated from progression by the sand bird and manta-ray (I was also actually afraid of it, so that made it even harder to try to fight). So despite having played Sunshine many times since then, this video has confirmed that i still fear it deep inside

fun story in the tutorial area of the story i happened to not notice the entrance to the second level and replayed the first level 8 times until i managed to get to the third level, thanks to you alpharad i finally found the second level
That Manta Storm level is legit hype. That was one of my favorite boss fights from Sunshine, and hey, we've been saying since the first game that there should be some sort of crossover between SMS and Splatoon.
Here's a fun little detail: After you beat the story mode, the Radio at Grizzco turns from a bear eating a salmon into a big salmon eating a bear.
Also: I thought the "so you dont have to" titles are for bad games.

honestly, I loved the fact that for the final fight they remixed the salmon run theme song and made it otherworldly! fits right in with the space fight and fighting against something also otherworldly, it reminds me a lot of the kirby and the forgotten land final boss

Octavio NOT being the main antagonist of the installment, and actual stakes that has the world depend on the heroes is definitely the step in the right direction. But it feels like Nintendo scratched the surface for this one as much as the DLC did.
Not bad, it’s actually extraordinary for a story about friendships, music, and the mystery of life and I’d like to see more for S3’s DLC.
