everyone always says you do these things so easily but I don’t think it’s easy, you have to handle multiple skilled players and even if you are really really skilled it’s not a pushover job of just playing and saying ‘wow I did it again’ I think you put a lot of effort into your games and are great at passing through the ranks! you’re a really big inspiration to me and I want to grow to be as good as you. good luck out there!!
Cooked MEALS that’s what happens a bit with a charger. You space everyone out, but than a careless newbie comes over with his ninja squid and kills you. I swear, the people who don’t really know what a charger is are some of the best people at beating up a charger user.
Charge up behind a wall. Then come out to make your shot. The Hydra has a long range, but doesn't have the sight line giveaway of a Charger. Just abuse your range and take advantage of the ink mines.
Thanks for posting a Hydra video! It's neat to see that we have almost the exact same gear loadout, but you play far more aggressively than I do even with a clunky weapon like that. I hadn't thought of using the fans as a shield from chargers, so I'll have to keep that in mind.
It sure is a shame only one hydra exists, when all the other splatlings get two to three variants. :P The other day I was sharking on a wall on Manta Maria, and I heard the rev of a hydra just above my head. Fucking terrifying, haha. The sounds in Splatoon are so satisfying, though. I like how hydra manages to separate itself from the rest of the splatlings, I only wish the same could be said for e-liter (rip). Now you must stop avoiding your destiny and play the nautilus. I have a bunch of puns lined up for that video, so don't disappoint me. xD Thanks for the video!
Honestly, I don’t know how people can use a Hydra Splatling. Everything about it screams SLOW, and it (for me at least) is easy to get in a pickle. I mean, tell me all you want how to use it, I’ll probably never get it down enough, oof.
Hey I thought the exact same thing when I was still a Hero Shot main, I just assumed I was terrible with every charging weapon- I think you should try it out at least, if you don't like it then that's perfectly fine, but you might be as surprised as I was :3
Learn how to use partial charges. Short to mid range weapons like the sploosh or splattershot will usually try to sneak up behind you and often underestimate your ability to kill with a partial charge. The hydra has a 12 frame kill with a full charge and a 16 frame kill with a partial charge (for reference the sploosh has a 15 frame kill) so with good positioning you can often beat flankers in a 1 on 1 and nothing is more satisfying than splatting overconfident flankers. First of all; be aware of your surroundings. If you have time to reposition yourself before a flanker arrives, dealing with them will be much easier. The ink mines on the custom are great for keeping track of typical flanking routes and checking the map also helps. When you do see a flanker coming try to position yourself so that when they come round a corner or over a ridge, you will be out of their range and will also have a clear shot. Once you are in a good position just start charging and shoot them when they come into view. If they do get the drop on you the the first thing to do is retreat. Try to get far enough away that you can charge enough to splat them before you are in their range. Splooshes and dapples are relatively easy to deal with if you see them coming, but otherwise you'll be splatted before you can react, and the splattershot pro's longer range means you need to retreat a lot further to deal with them. Most of the time you will be wanting to use full charges for that extra damage, but if need be you can kill quite quickly. Before you pick up the hydra splatling I recommend using the heavy splatling to get to grips with the mechanics of splatlings. Also the hydra splatling requires a lot of patience - Turf war is a great place to learn how to use it as it is a much lower stress environment than ranked.
I mean, honestly a really fair point, (legit seeing this a year later xd) but its actually EXTREMELY powerful once u get it down. I should try and teach it to u one day and see how u do with it in solo q, its just stupid how good hydra is, and i feel like if u would ever want to, u could actually pick it up yourself!
Do you have any tips for the hydra splatling or splatlings in general? Like, I can anchor and play a mild support but I feel as if I’m letting my team down a bit here and there and I feel I could do a better job! I drew some things from your video but I would appreciate if you maybe left a few tippers or such! Thank you!
Sorry this is gonna be long! Feel free to read if you're bored lmao I'm not kaji but i main the heavy splatling and the hydra, I often get a ton of kills because I am an aggressive splatling. I tend to be in the back hiding while I'm charging for when I do see an opponent and often times you will get to splat them. you should definitely practice with aiming with the splatling, it might look easy but when there are dualies and paintbrushes who like to dodge your hits you will end up having to shoot all over the place and you will waste your ink, leaving them to splatling you. People tend to get close sometimes when their is a splatling so be prepared to have a full charge at all times just in case that happens, I'm good when I encounter people who get close to me. But often times know when to step back, for example when one of your team mates die step back and be aware of the opponent (often times take advantage of your range) and shoot. Splatlings are back liners so don't go and be at the center of the stage (you will be vulnerable) so hide HIDE HIde, and definantly do not stay in the same place because enemy's could go behind you or throw unnecessary bombs at you. Now a trick I often use with splatlings is when someone who has a bit of a far range trying to splat me I often step back (charging) and then release while still going back (this is an example of taking advantage of my range). Now with weapons like the sniper, it's not safe to go head to head with them (since it's one shot kill) but often times I still do and 70%of the time I do kill them, that's because I often do a lot of jumping while charging/shooting. AND PLEASE use your subs espically if you have the heavy splatling deco , that sub can help protect your team mates in a long run. I also would take note eith the gear you use. Often times I go with a lot of run speed but also main power up. And with the hydra I go with main power up/run speed/main ink saver People often think that splatling users are weak, but then here I am one of the people who get tons of kills with it and also annoying the other team to the point that they all try to kill me, this is a few tips I have with the splatlings because I enjoy using them.
I use the normal hydra splatling (just started today actually) and as a squiffer e liter nautilus and ballpoint user as well it was pretty easy. My strategy in rainmaker is to charge with my teammates into battle with them protecting me while I charge. Haven’t tried it in other modes though
How in the hell are you this good at the game? How many hours have you spent mastering this game? And how many do I have to do to get 1/10 of your skill?
How to defeat a charger: 1. Use an ink brush 2. Swerve unpredictably 3. Get in close and smack him across the face. (They deserve it!) WARNING: does not work for splatlings or chargers with a steady aim of a god.

The hydra is just so much fun. You get sit back, relax, and enjoy your opponents crying as you grind their faces into the dirt.
And then get 2 tapped by that one overstacked mpu kpro outta nowhere. Who got his only kill for the match

Is the custom one better than the normal one?
It really depends on what you like. I prefer the custom because the gear set is better for supportive play
Objectively yes
In every way. It gives you a good supportive kit. The vanilla gives you a useless sub and a very bad special for the qeapon
