I've seen this up close. My mom was EXACTLY like this when she was 81, his age. She was in decline from early stage dementia and thought she was still with it. She'd have good days, seemingly like her old self, and bad days of confusion and forgetfulness. The bad times became more and more frequent, severe, and long lasting. By the time she was 85 she was bat sh*** crazy and shuffling around, mumbling and cantankerous, forgetting everything. It was sad and awful. Taking care of her was a burden. This doesn't get better , ONLY WORSE. It's progressive and irreversible, those damaged brain cells DON'T COME BACK , folks. Biden never should have sought a second term. I blame not only him but his handlers and flunkies. Something has to be done. There is NO WAY this guy would make it even part way through another term. You can bet on it 100%. .

@@SteffiReitsch If I remember correctly (sadly apropos here...) Joe did say something to the effect that he was running for Senate back in 2020. _We_ knew he wasn't. In short, I believe wiki9361 made a joke, and you did not know or remember the setup to that joke. I don't blame you. There were quite a few senior moments back in 2019 and 2020, and the odd mask slip. The running for senator flub was relatively minor.

So then I started looking what other options do we have? I came across Robert Kennedy and I heard several of his speaking, and I really enjoyed the one he did with Dr. Phil and that really opened up my eyes to who I am gonna vote for, Lord willing, the election coming up, I hope more people look at that video and see that we do have a choice.

Biden is doing fine at governing. It's in the numbers. He is failing at the sales part of this, ya know the kind of 'make-people-feel-good' kind of stuff. He actually had command of the facts, and was making arguments - but didn't have the projection , and frankly looks like he was nervous cuz he realized he was making debate mistakes.

And Trump is an asshole. He gets under everyones skin - including his kids and his wife.
A debate has about as much to do with governing as a beauty pageant.
The Democrats deserve plenty of blame for this though - they ignored the age question. Made it about 'but he can govern!' - that doesn't fucking matter. You need to look a certain way on TV to win. He can't do it anymore.

I’ve never had those rose colored glasses. Just because a person is old doesn’t mean that they’re good. There are some really really evil people who are old. Just because Joe Biden is a dottering old Blank right now doesn’t mean he’s a good person?!! He is a power hungry “user”, that’s the best way to describe him. He’s a user. He has always used his political position to advance his own interests and to boost his own ego and that’s why he’s still in the race. Everyone knew around him, and he himself knew, that he is not up to the job. He will do anything to hold onto power.

Happened with Covid, too, which rather quickly revealed itself to be a disease affecting mostly the old and infirmed. And yet, we locked down schools and required healthy young people to get injected in order to attend college or gain employment.

Nope, the only hope of that lies with Joe Biden alone. Unless he throws in the towel the DNC can try whatever trick they want but it will only spell disaster. There is a bloody good reason the conventions come so far after the primaries, so the party can heal from all the vicious infighting and let the deals they made placate the loser enough to turn out on Election Day. With two months after the utter bloodbath an open primary would be you think the wounds are healed? The smart ones won’t get in that pool because it may scar them for the future. So it will be those with nothing to lose. Bernie, Hillary, and others. Newsome is a future star, whitmer may be willing to risk it but why potentially get the loser tag for nothing. Then after your party ravages you then you get to debate a man that has literally destroyed promising political careers who also has nothing to lose really. I’m betting they let Joe take it for the team and start preparing for 28.

Last night's debate was the ultimate testament to what you're saying. The system has (and for quite some time) failed the American people by choosing less than adequate presidential nominees.
We all know that in a country of 300+ million people, many of whom meeting the minimum requirements of age and citizenship, and possessing the right background in politics that would make them more than qualified to be great candidates, those two cannot be the only options.
So why on earth must America choose between those two?
I may not like RFK nor want the gentleman to win, but good on him for challenging this obscenity by practically side stepping it.
I prefer Jill Stein, by leagues.

I believe they're in desperate need of winning this election, and they're aware Kamala Harris is not quite as popular as Joe Biden was.
She would be their candidate most likely, however, they're too conscious regarding her lack of popularity so perhaps they might change course.
Notice that I am saying lack of popularity, as opposed to unpopularity.
Kamala Harris is mostly a mystery. We don't know much about how she would be as a president. Last year should have been a year they used to launch her forward in the public eye and have her gain more notoriety in order to contain a situation like what's happening now "should it ever occur".
      But they didn't.
How ... Intelligent is this party exactly? They don't seem to have thought the situation through at all.

My question is: does anyone else think that the sudden swing of Democrat-supporting pundits in the US from supporting Biden in his obvious not-new infirmity to now calling for his resignation seem oddly coordinated? And extremely and oddly quick? They must-have known long before this debate how infirm he was. Did CNN already know how badly he would perform? Like, dare I say..was this a bit of a set-up? For months any talk of Joe's infirmity was considered 'disinformation ' but now it's not? All feels a bit fishy to me. I look forward to watching RFK's version of the debate. I think it is appalling the lengths the democrats will go to keep legitimate candidates off the ballot when they think they will be a threat to certain entrenched interests.

The delegates are “tied to delivering the votes that the state gave to each candidate in the primary…” But lots of states didn’t hold Democrat primaries.
