One of the differences between emotion and other affects is time.
Emotions exist in a "small" time
of second, minutes. the mood exists for a longer period of hours, days. The feelings in turn would be in an even longer time, perhaps indefinite. A person can have the same feeling about an object all his life.
The feelings can influence our mood, the mood our emotion reactions.
That's why I believe in many illnesses such as depression. Behind the depressed mood and the emotions of sadness there is a feeling. That is, a subjective and well-defined truth about life for that person. I believe that if it is possible to cure some mental illnesses, it will be through the reformulation of some regido feelings about the life.
But in my experience in clinic we are not used to this word "feelings", just "toughts" and "emotions".
And this is often disregarded by clinicians, who are only interested in mood (psychiatrists) and emotions (psychologists)

What you described as "momentary" emotions is what Les Greenberg referred to as feelings. What you described as "a subjective and well-defined truth about life for that person" is what Les Greenberg has referred to in his books as "emotion schemes".
Psychiatrists are only interested in assessing mood to differentiate between a mood disorder and other disorders, so that a right diagnosis, and therefore right medication can be offered.
Psychologists, on the whole, don't address emotion the way that Les Greenberg is proposing. They don't target emotion except to identify their links to automatic thoughts or beliefs which are then targeted for change.

While feelings are a gut feeling. Something like the voice in ur head.

It is such interesting this world of feelings and emotions. I recently read this: ''The more we accept our humanness and our feelings for what they actually are, rather than what we wish they were, the more we digest them and grow as a human being'' - Andrew Kenneth Fretwell. From his book Emotional Alchemy the Love and Freedom Hidden within Painful Feelings.

Your feelings are a guide to your emotions. Eg: Feeling disrespected may either lead to shame or anger (emotions).
They're like the stats on a dashboard before the engine crashes (emotional reaction).
    NB: I'm no expert.

I like that. "Your feelings are a guide to your emotions". Some things, and I believe this is one of them, cannot be understood solely by the mind. There is more to being human than the mind. Introspection is a must for understanding that which words can only point to.

I'd come at this from an evolutionary perspective.
Feelings are psychosomatic excitations, which register as embodied experience. Emotions are states of mind that might arise from feelings, but, in humans, might arise without feelings, on the basis of memory or imagination, but which might thereby give rise to feelings, retroactively. Thus, to have rudimentary emotions, an organism needs a rudimentary mind. Ants have feelings, but their brain is likely too primitive to channel these as emotions. Affect is the landscape of psychological coloration or timbre of the organism and combines feelings and emotions.
    Here’s a concise breakdown:
Feelings: These are psychosomatic experiences that manifest as embodied sensations. They are the raw, immediate responses to stimuli.
Emotions: These are more complex states that can arise from feelings but can also originate from cognitive processes like memory or imagination. This means emotions do not always require immediate feelings to occur.
Rudimentary Emotions and Minds: For basic emotions to exist, an organism must possess a basic cognitive framework. While ants may experience feelings, their primitive brain structure likely prevents them from processing these as emotions.
Affect: This term refers to the overall psychological tone or quality that encompasses both feelings and emotions, capturing the organism's experiential landscape.

@@feelings9839 yes felt in the body then articulated through the mind [thought process]. thought is awareness of something. not all thoughts are felt (such as 2+2=4) and perhaps not all feelings are thought, if we have not come to awareness of the feeling to be able to identify or articulate it. so i am not sure if there truly is a clear scientific definition and distinction between feelings and emotions, besides perhaps the way we are able or choose to identify or articulate them, which would still be through thought process and metacognition.

Emotions arise depending on the initial input provided by feeling, but they are more complex mental phenomena than bare feeling itself. We "feel" pleasant or unpleasant (or neutral) feelings through the body, emotions are contemplated as a states of mind.

I think ethics. Ethics are about doing the right thing. They are about standards that help us decide between right and wrong. They are not the same as our feelings, religion, the law, cultural norms, science, or values. Ethics are important because they provide structure and stabilization for society.
