It was confirmed at the end of this ep that he reaches the flow state while playing football. This concept exists, and you can reach it even by doing something ordinary like sewing or Origami btw, but the task difficulty needs to be reasonable to the task owner. It's not the same thing, but at some point It is similar to the Zone in Kuroko no Basket, except that It is a much more solid and applicable concept and less fanciful, specially to proffessional sports cenario.

Wrong it was so popular the higher ups wanted to release as much content as possible to cash in on the popularity but didn't give the series what it needed
Blue Lock is super popular in Japan as well, the reason it ended up like this is lack of time, they had both the movie and season 2 release super close to each other, so the animators just didn't have enough time for season 2 cause they were working on the movie.
Delivering a product in time is no use if its bad quality, its not a virtue at that point, but a compromise. A comrpomise that most people do not like, better to wait for a good product than for things like this to happen.
