  • The subject of this alluring work is The Hon. Mrs Philip Leyland Kindersley (née Oonagh Guinness), later Lady Oranmore and Browne, a famous socialite, art collector and society hostess.
Oonagh was the daughter of Ernest Guinness, whose father Edward Guinness, 1st Earl of Iveagh - head of the family’s brewing business and the richest man in Ireland. Oonagh and her two sisters were famously dubbed the ‘golden Guinness girls’.
We are delighted to present this work by Philip de Laszlo as the highlight of our Masterpiece and London Art Week exhibition - 'From Still Lifes to Socialites'. For further information, visit our website: philipmould.com/

Wow! The way he painted that organza is beautiful and the skin tone is perfect. What a wonderful portrait. No wonder he was proud of it.

Spectacular in every way. This has an informality and freshness seldom seen in society portraits, made to flatter the sitter. This one seems to have an authentic vision.

Please do more like this - portraits of this period are the most alluring, lavish, mesmerizing as you mentioned that align with Sargent. My favorites! I also love Sisley, LaTour, and Pissaro.

He painted the young Princess Elizabeth in the same pose, very similar composition to this. Thanks so much for the videos Philip. Utterly bewitched by them. Best wishes from Edinburgh

I thought it was by Sargeant at first, except for the face 😁. It’s spectacular

    Delicious! ♥️
Interesting about that brushstroke - it feels as the painting would be very static and dull without that brushstroke. It added dynamics into the composition. Super!

Wonderful portrait the artist captures the gaze of of a young woman who knows so much about life already but is eager to to start the next chapter of her story. I have to say that frame is real tour de force of a real craftsman.

I don't believe there is any genre that stirs the senses more than what lies within the emotive content of a great portrait. Landscape continues to be the most popular genre on a primordial basis of visual stimulus - BUT ! A glorious portrait can be so much more - Portraits as a humanistic aspect of visual expression hold a vast array of sensual potential in connecting man and mind to subject. It is after all what lies before us that is our teacher and one can glean a great deal for this beautiful capture.

Captured the delicacy of the strawberry blonde colouring. The dress is the masterpiece of frothy glamour, of film petal shapes of silky delicacy. She has fingers like my own. People have always commented on my hands and long fingers and the shape of my nails.
