  • Oswego Winged Super Challenge Race 1. A much improved car count and great Winged Supermodified race at Oswego Speedway June 3rd, 2023. It was nice to see cars rejoin the field after having to pit.

    It's really hard to shoot good video from the stands at Oswego. This one is fantastic...Best I have ever seen. Nothing tops ISMA at The Big O!

    Nothing more powerful than watching a IMSA race live. Good to see a strong field of cars.

      Dirt super late modems far superior, asphalt has been on the fall, dirt constantly on the rise unfortunately

    Thanks for this. Great racing, terrific driving by all for 50 laps green to checkered. Fine performance by Canadians Lichty and Sammut! Glad to see good car count.

      Yeah, they had 25 Winged Supers, but 1 wrecked really bad in practice in turn 3 and flipped over, the other blew an engine after the 3rd heat race. It's too bad someone with deep pockets doesn't see how great these cars are and make take them to the next level and the track.

    That's about the best super mod racing I've seen in a long-long time. Low car counts make racing dull and boring but it was nice to see ISMA at Oswego with a good field of cars. Sadly I'm betting there wasn't many fans in the stands.

    Too bad they don't come to New England anymore. I really enjoyed watching them at Star Speedway and Lee Speedway.

    Dumb question.... what's the difference between these and sprint cars? They look different but similar.

    • @saragrant9749
      @saragrant9749 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Not a dumb question at all!! A winged sprint car has the engine inside the frame, much less offset and stands taller from bottom of chassis to top of cage. Their wing is fixed and is a solid surface from front to back on the faceplate. They also only have about 5-6 inches of offset between left and right front. A super has a completely offset chassis with as much as 12 inches of offset, the engine is attached to the left side of the frame and is nearly entirely visible outside the car. The wing is what is called “split,” meaning there is a second tier to the faceplate that allows for better distribution of downforce. The wing is also attached in back to air shocks, which is why you’ll notice it lays down flat on the straight then comes back up in the corner. The wing coming up like that applies over 3,000 lbs of downforce to the rear axle. They also utilize some of the widest tires in the sport, with the right rear being 18” in width.
