As most people have said...the 25-06 is more effective if zeroed at 200 yards. I have a custom 25-06 with a 24" magnum contour barrel. I hand load 110gr. Accubonds and get 1/2" groups at 200 yards. I use it when hunting powerlines and fresh cutovers here in Alabama. I've taken a few deer at just over 200 yards with it and didn't have to track the deer. They usually fell in their tracks or stumbled for a few yards before crashing. I enjoyed your video.
The 25-06 is my favorite. Got my first one in 1967 and I've shot lots of deer, antelope and coyotes with thousands of p-dogs as well. I've shot over 40,000 rounds by now. I used .243,, 270, 35 Rem and 30-06 but put them in the safe when I shot my first 25-06. I shoot Hornady Interlock 100g bullets for deer at 3350 fps and have only recovered two bullets. Both penetrated lengthwise and stuck in the hide on the off side. One was a big buck on the dead run at 250 yards (shattered pelvis, 3 spit ribs on the left, 3 split ribs on the right and heart cut in half); the other an antelope at 500 yards. Most heavy lead slingers think you need a 180g bullet to kill a deer but I've never had one move after impact by a 100g bullet out as far as 500 yards. I do use the 115 Berger for 1000 yard p-dogs and it would kill a deer out to about 700 yards. I'm now shooting the 131g Blackjack with a 7.5 twist barrel and they would kill deer at 1000 yards. 90% of my shots have been with 75g bullets at targets and varmints. I shot one deer with a 117g Hornady to see what would happen. The bullet was slower at 3150 fps but the 100 yard deer died instantly. About half the game I've shot has been on the run and the speed of the 100g 25-06 makes those shots very predictable.
Im with you 100% I use lighter bullets on whitetail deer also. Id rather my bullets not exit the deer, I get quick instant kills when the deers body absorbs all tue shock from the bullet rather than the bullet putting all yhat energy on the ground or on a tree after a pass thru.
i Have use a 25-06 for about 25 years now. I have taken many whitetails here in michigan and i love it. I use 117 grain hornadys. they were a little faster and less drop at distance. I took two deer in about 20 seconds one year. first was at 190yrds and put it in the center of the back of its head. the 2nd one jumped up when i hit the first and ran out to about 200 yrds and put that one threw the ear canal. I had to look where I hit it for awhile. I am in a wheelchair so I cant go chasing a deer down threw the woods, so i take head shots hate me or not I dont care. one thing I didnt like and it suprised me, is that both of those shots stayed inside the head. They never even knew what hit them and the brains were well not as solid as they could of been.but its a tack driver and I'll stick with it until I move to a bigger prey.
oh the rifle is a mauser m96 straight pull. I dont see much about it but alot of people dont like it. I do. I also have a ruger 77 in 300wm. got a great deal on it and couldnt pass it up. I've only shot one time to sight it in and well it wasnt fun, I have to put a compensator on it befoer I go out again lol
@JamesJones-cx5pk just because you are not good enough to take a head shot doesn't mean you have to call them stupid. I don't hunt for antlers, so if I screw up a good mount, it doesn't matter to me. With a headshot, i dont waste a single ounce of meat like I would with a neckbor heart shot. Also, the deer doesn't run when I hit them. It's lights out instantly, and they don't even know they are dead. So don't come on here trying to put me down for being skilled enough to take a shot you can't. If I do make a bad shot, the deer runs away, and it's unharmed, unlike a bad neck or heart shot. Either one of those shots they can run for miles before they ley down and die. If they do go that far, then chances you trail them that far is about zero. At that point, it's a wasted deer.
My 25-06 is zeroed at 250 yards with 100gr. SPBT. That puts it 2.1 inches high at 100 yards and 10.8 inches low at 375 yards...point blank to 325 yards (5.3 inch drop). My quarter '06 slays sod poodles, yotes and horned 'wild prairie and mountain goats' with ease...just load the proper round for the task.
Definitely one of my favorite whitetail cartridges. My favorite factory load has always been the Winchester with the 120 gr Positive Expansion Points if you can find them. I will agree with others comments on here about zeroing it at 200 yards. Any shot under 200 will still be in the kill zone with a dead on hold.
Bought my 700 Rem 25 06 in 1972. Many deer and a couple bull elk. Roll my own ammo with 117 grain sierra. Excellent cartridge. That Ruger is mighty handsome. Thanks for the vid
I agree the 25-06 is a fantastic cartridge. One thing I will note is that it is fully capable of shooting anything in North America. Personally a number of years ago I was hunting whitetail and I also had a moose draw. There was no intention to fill the tag before moose camp. Came around a corner and there was a big bull at around 125 yards. One shot with a 120gr nosler partition and it was lights out. My father was with me and he was impressed at how 25-06 dropped it. To be fair, it is not what I would recommend for moose but it worked as that was what I had with me! It is 100% about bullet placement and selection. But I also believe there is no replacement for displacement.
I live in Montana,my deer gun for years was 25/06. It's devastating on deer. Usually only one shot and they were done. I live in a area where many shots are 300 yds or more. 2 years ago I switched to 270wsm, it's been perfect and a little more power at longer ranges.
Yep I also like hunts brother pizza because they have a target on back or at least in my area. So I'd save a few boxes because of that. Plus the pizza ain't half bad. Lol.
@@theroller5673 they are all over the south . They are usually at gas stations and mom and pop stores. Plus a added bonus if your christian they are a faith based company. Plus there are a few other pizza places out there as well that does the 🎯 thing as well.
25-06 is right up there with the rest of the awesome deer cartridges. Around here, 30-30, 243, 270, 25-06, 30-06, and 7 Mag are most popular, with a few fans of 35 rem, and 300 Win mag. Where I am hunting, depends a lot on which I choose.
@@leadhead7338 35w is probably a good deer caliber, but I just listed what was popular in my area. I am sure there are a lot others that are popular in other places. I hear a lot about 7mm-08 on the internet, as being a great deer cartridge, but here in my area, I have yet to hear anyone around here talking about that particular one. On the other hand, I have heard some of the old men around here praise their 303 Brits, and 8mm Mausers as great deer calibers. 👍
@@slickdazzler7330 I’m not sure where you’re from, but the 35 Whelan is essentially a 35-06, if you live out west, maybe a smaller caliber, flatter shooting round would be better for your hunting, I live in the Northeast Kingdom, where you very rarely get any shots over 100 yards unless it is in a field, or clear cut, or something like that, and in the woods shots usually average around 50 yards, and actually the last 4 Deer I’ve shot, have been roughly 20-30 yards, The 35 Whelen is a great deer rifle for thick softwoods areas, it’s a great brush gun, and one hell of a powerhouse! The 7MM-08 is another amazing round, since I was 12 I’ve used a 308, I was a small kid and the gun had a lot of recoil for me at that time, I had never shot a .243 or a 7MM-08 until this last year, and I was pleasantly surprised with the little to no recoil from either of them, while still being a .308 case essentially, my Son Hunts with the .243 and my nephew hunts with the 7MM-08 and they both have no problem taking a deer down, in fact I believe Whoo_Tee May have a video of him taking a buck with a 7MM-08? And both of them are long range shooting rounds as well.
If you would Sight In at 3” High at 100 Yards, you could Aim Center Mass Out to 300 Yards, on Deer. Most Hunters will say they Shot an Animal at 400 Yards, when in FACT, it may have been 125-150 Yards. I Guided Hunters for over 30 years & feel This Is A Great Statement. I Rest My Case
I've taken deer, black bear and Moose with a Browning B78 25-06 I like the caliber. It always worked for me on any of the game I used it for. The Moose was at the time the longest shot I'd ever made and that was 510 yards.
Jim Davis. I bought a Browning M-78 Falling Block .25-06 with an octagon barrel the first year they came out. $248. 🤣 It's been serving me well for 48 years. I've used it for everything including many, many groundhogs, coyotes, deer, etc. always with the 117gr Sierra SBT. It's like they've been struck by lightning.
My favorite deer round. I've had 35 calibers and this little 25 is the ultimate for deer. For me it seems to kill faster than most others I've had. I'm from PA and don't get many shots out to 300 yards and at that distance does as good as any caliber.
Thanks for another great video! I was really psyched for this one, as I am a big fan of the .25-06. My daughter started out using my old Encore muzzleloader frame with the .25-06 rifle barrel when she was 7. I installed a Sims Limbsaver recoil pad and she never looked back. Kept our freezer full with one shot kills every time! Her longest shot was 197 yards. We only tracked one deer out of all the ones she shot. It didn't go far, but I wanted her to experience tracking. My son will start carrying the same gun next season Lord willing. I have looked at the Remington ammo, but have used the Hornady Superformance 117 grain with such success that I can't bring myself to switch! The gun absolutely loves them! You can cover 3 shots at 100 yards with a nickel on a bad day. That's pretty stout for factory ammo I believe. Thank you once again for another outstanding video!
I’ve been shooting my 25 /06 With hand loads 120 grain For 30 years now are use it for deer and varmant hunting Here in Michigan it’s a wonderful rifle bull’s-eyes all day I’m shot woodchucks at 200 yards
Been dropping deer with a Ruger M77 25/06 since 1980 from 20 yds to 300 yds. One shot does the job. Mine likes Winchester 120 grain positive expanding point when you can find them.
Was always my favorite 25-06 round too. Mine shoots well under an inch with the Winchester ammo. And it drops deer quick. Always wanted Winchester to offer that bullet in other calibers
I have too many to say one cartridge is the best for deer size game. I like the 25-06, 6.5-06 even more, 7-08, 6.5CM, etc...It all comes down to where you're going to hunt. The best rifle in South Louisiana might not be the best in Wyoming. Out west I like 6.5PRC, 280, 7 Rem Mag etc. My 6.5-06 has a 1:9 twist barrel and shoots 120-140 gr bullets great. Even the 123SST bullets have a 500BC. That's a big advantage if you're in the Texas panhandle and the wind blows 20+ mph all the time...and the deer are 200+ yards.
Enjoyed the video as always 25 -06 is a great round I've had some good friends that hunt with nothing but a 25 -0 6 good from point blank out to 400 yd all day. using the right ammo NP or BT
Very impressed . I’ve never owned a 25-06 . I’ve got 243 win 6.5 x55se & 308 win ( these are reasonably common down here 🇦🇺). 25-06 looks great unfortunately the ammo is up there , too bad they aren’t as popular.... The 6.5x55se is a flat shooter but un fortunately they drop like a stone due to being loaded down to suit the old military rifles..... That’s good groups for factory ammo, nice Ruger. 👍. Great video , good content and I’m impressed with that Remington CL 🏁
Over the last three months I have bought four new guns. A .410 shotgun,.308,.270 and a 25-06. I sighted in the 25-06 with some Barnes 100 grain TTSX ammo and that gun loves the Barnes. For me, I personally can't tell the difference in recoil between the 25-06 and .270 but my 12 year old daughter did choose the 25-06 as her favorite. I am partial to the .308 but it does kick harder.
The Ruger M77 are in a class all by themselves. The 25-06 is a over bore, like the 243, 6MM Remington 7MM-08, 260 Remington, 6.5 CM so they perform at their best with med to heavy bullets.
My son might be getting the Ruger American .308 because of your videos proving that rooty-tooty is great. Especially since he hunts twice a year on private land. Let's all cheer on Brandon
Other than it being my favorite whitetail cartridge I could tell many great things I have experienced with the 2506 but I don't feel like being here typing for 12 hrs! All I can say without going any farther is it's a great cartridge!
.25-06 always was an impressive cartridges. I always saw it as the ultimate antelope cartridge. It's also a wicked heavy coyote rifle. And I have no doubt your rifle would shoot tighter with good handloads. I like 120 grains. I think the old Hornady 120 hollow point was a good one. 117s are likely going to be the weight where you find your best accuracy.
The 25-06 is a great cartridge. There are more bullets available for long range today than there use to be. The Core Lock ammo like I said earlier isn't much for real accuracy, but it does the job with expansion for the kill. It's not long range ammo. The 25-06 is one of those extremely accurate cartridges like the 270 and the 6.5 Creedmoor. Sub MOA is easy to achieve with either of them. Half that with good ammo and 5 shot groups not 3.
Great video bud! I'm a huge fan of the .25-06. I've killed 20+ deer with it in the past 4 or 5 years and I doubt I'll ever shoot another caliber for deer again. Just bought a Sako 85 Finnlight chambered in it and it's a deer slayer for sure. My preferred ammo is Federal Premium 115gr Nosler Partitions. Made a horrible shot on a big doe a couple of years ago and I got super lucky. The round entered just in front of the right ham and stopped just under the skin in front of the left shoulder. Almost a complete pass through the length of the deer. She ran about 15 yards before falling. Finding that brand ammo is getting really hard though so I may try a different one once the 2 boxes I have run out.
Love my 25-06; the only thing I've taken more deer with is my old 30-30. I usually don't bother with the 308 or 30-06 as the 25 has no recoil to speak of so I don't volunteer to punish myself. Good friend put me onto the 25-06 in the mid 80's and for deer it's like lightning and has never failed to drop a deer in short order but once...and that was a lousy shot on my part. Long live the quarter-bore.
Thanks for your great review of the 25-06. It's been a favorite of mine since 1989. I now have 2 rifles chambered in it. It's a really versatile round.
Always liked any Remington Core Lokt rounds: They might be considered "old technology" rounds compared to newer bullet designs, but they work! I don't own a .25-06 REM rifle (only own/have owned .270 WIN, .308 WIN, and .30-06 Springfield chambered rifles), but those groups are impressive! Again, a great video!
My old 25-06 Remington 700 BDL is a tack driver with 100 grain ammo and has taken my share and someone else's too of deer. Longest kill was 662 yards on an eight point buck.
I absolutely love the 25-06 for everything from whitetails to predators and is my go-to woodchuck gun makes a real mess with an 85 grain nosler ballistic tip hand load cruising along about 3300 FPS
Great video on the 25-06, as well as the other calibers you have tested. And kudos to you for your channel growth to over 340K subs. That shows that you are providing content that we want to watch... 🤗
I have been shooting a savage 110 sense around 1989 .I have killed 100,s of deer with it shooting remington 100 grain corelokt 300 yars is my longest shot so far .Now i shot a savage 110 accu in the 6.5 creedmore have had grate results out to 400 yards on deer shooting hornady 143 eldx . i have and shot other rifles but these two are my go to deer rifles .
There's a whole range of deer calibers. They'll all do the job. Accuracy is the most important by far. You can't harvest what you can't hit. Strive for 1 moa.
Jimmie Burleigh I can hardly see a deer past 400 yards less killing one that far😂😂 just seems to get really good accuracy out the the Norma whitetail offerings in other cal’s and for the price they can’t beat. I still have a couple boxes of the old corelokts as well as several boxes of Federal Fusions which I’ve had good luck over the years. Thanks!
I have a Ruger M77 in 25-06 but the older tang safety style. Love it. Those 120g Remington Core-Lokt's have never failed me on deer. Does the job also on black bear.
Really nice rifle. I'm a bit jealous. I used to have a Hawkeye in 22-250 and a 25-06 in a 77 Mk II with the brown laminate stock. Both were great rifles but never really shot them that much and eventually sold them both to the same guy. I think the 25-06 is a great cartridge, along with the 270 and the 7mm-08. I just rarely have a chance to shoot much past 250 yards and I'd say those cartridges (along with the 308, 6.5 Creed, 6 Creed, 243 and several others) are interchangeable at those distances.
In my time ive learned there is no perfect cartridge, but theres a stack of really great ones. 25-06 is one of them. Had an uncle that bought a 25-06, 700 BDL in the early 1970s and killed a lot of deer with it for 25 yrs before shooting out the barrel. My dad re-barreled it to .270win. But the 25-06 with a 115+ grain solid copper or bonded heavy jacket will cleanly turn deer & hogs right off.
I used to zero all my rifles at 100 yards as well. Then I started studying the MBPR method. Especially since none of my scopes are dialable, this seems to work for me. Basically, up to the maximum point blank range, I can just hold in the vertical center of the deer and squeeze one off. But if I were going to dial, I would do as you do. Thank you for your good work and amazing content! By the way, .25-06 is definitely on my bucket list.
Everything I own that I use for hunting or protection that had an optic gets zero to 50 yards. From 50 to 200 that places everything in more or less the same place. For my 350 legend deer gun. Its zero to 50. From 50 to 150 it's more or less poi t of aim. And if I ever see a deer in ohio where I hunt past 50 yards I'll pass out from excitement Everyone does it different thats whats great
Thanks WTW, I have the 25-06 that is a built rifle on a Mauser 98 action. I have shot deer with it. It was my father's deer rifle that his brother put together for him. I need to get it out and shoot it some as I do like that caliber and it is a great deer rifle. Sorry I missed the premier on this one. When hunting I tend to get back late so I can't catch all the premiers.
Hey Adam Interesting video Mate , when I was living in Far North Queensland I too quiet a number of feral pigs , what y’all call hogs , had no trouble dropping them at 100 yards with head shots using a 25-06 with hot hand loads thanks for the video Mate.
Building a 25-06AI with MDT chassis, benchmark heavy barrel 1:8 twist, Tikka action, custom made Corlanes Sporting g=Goods muzzle break. Haven't decided on scope yet but pretty pumped.
Everyone has thier personal favorite. Iam still in favor of a heavier projectile. Obviously any caliber placed in the right spot can be used. I like the rounds that flip them on thier sides.
My longest deer shot was at 880 yards with a Ruger M.77 in 25-06. With that said the .270 Win. is the same thing two calibers bigger with a heavier bullet with a lot more factory loads available and if you reload the variety is almost unlimited.
I had to drop down to a 100gr in mine to get a good group. Same thing with my 257 weatherby. The normal twist rate just wouldn't stabilize anything heavier. All my groups now are touching.
Not bad groups. Core-lokt are decent bullets. 25-06 is an excellent deer & antelope chambering. Some folk use it for elk. Great varmint rifle with 75-90 bullets. Thank you
Your concern about availability is correct.. Remember 2506 for max capability is 26 "barrel..Also ,even same make ammo may still vary performance ,different batches...270 win ,VERY available COMPARED TO 2506.. Get threaded barrel in case you want to tame recoil with compensator..I hunt with 6.5 x 55 Swedish..
Sold my 25-06 last year. Just bought another one (tikka). Remington cor-Lokt and American whitetail is the only factory options I can find at my local gun store. Looking forward to it.
Thanks for the video, the 25-06 is defiantly a wonderful cartridge. If one owns a ..270 win I can’t justify buying another rifle. But yes it is one of many great cartridges for deer. If I was to step up the power of my collection, I would go with the 300 Win mag most likely. Be safe everyone and shoot straight! 🇺🇸😎👍
My quarter aught 6 is zeroed at 250 yards with 100gr. SPBT. That puts it 2.1 inches high at 100 yard and 10.8 inches low at 375 yards...point-blank to 325 yards(5.3 inch drop) for deer. My quarter aught 6 slays sod poodles, yotes and wild prairie/mountain goats with ease...just load the proper round for the task.
Howdy Whoo-Tee I’ve always shot a .308 or a 30-06 now I have a 35 Whelen, I had never shot a .243 or 7mm-08 until I bought my boy a .243 and I couldn’t believe it has No Recoil compared to my .308, I do know a guy who uses a 25 or six and swears by it, I would imagine it has very little kick like the 243 of the 308 cartridge, also Whoo-Tee keep the young ones shooting! I just dropped another one the other day, so I’ve got 2 deer in the last 3-4 weeks here in VT,
You might consider adding the max point blank range to your 1000 yard bullistics presentation. Assumes a 6 inch bullseye, and asks the question, how far can I just point at the deer and be assured to hit within that 6 inch circle (the vitals). It calculates the best range to site in and the maximum point blank (no hold) range.
Great video and informative as usual my friend, keep up the great work. Best of luck to little man on deer 🦌 ventures with you this year. God bless buddy 🙏
It’s might be the ultimate deer cartridge for smaller white tails in places like south Texas and is arguably one of the best antelope cartridges. But, the ultimate deer cartridge for deer hunting in wide open country, especially high country mule deer hunting, is the 7MM Rem Mag.
I love this round. I have a Remington 700 chambered in 25-06. It shoots so fast and flat. I have to go on an out of state hunt to use it on deer. It’s my pest eliminator.
Hootie I have had Just about every cartridge out there and I will have to say that the 25-06 is probably as good as anyone can get for whitetails. And I don't believe I ever had but one that ran off all the others fell where they stood
Liked the video double features are always the best that would be a great Idea for the blu-llet drop on the 45-70gov't that you was saying that's coming soon also here another one you can do is a blu-llet drop on a good old fashion 30-30 lever action along with the 4545-70gov't
HAVE YOU EVER SHOT ANY NOSLER 115 PARTITION IN 25-06 REM?? I BOUGHT 8 BOXES BACK IN JANUARY BECAUSE MY PAPPAW PASSED AWAY AND MOM TOLD ME THAT SHE HAD TWO RIFLES THAT I NEEDED TO PICK UP THAT WERE HIS AND SHE WANTED ME TO HAVE THEM.... I WAS SHOCKED TO SEE A M77 RUGER IN MINT CONDITION AND MORE SURPRISING A MARLIN GOLDEN 39A.... I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT.....
I personally shoot 270 for a lot of the same points as the 25-06 guys flat shooting tons of knock down power and can reach out to distance with the right shooter
I shoot a marlin 25.06 with hand loads at 100 grain Partition bullets. I drop White tail with Head shots at 150 yards no problem, But for close in work I prefer my 30.30 or my .35 cal Marlin.
Im with you 100%
I use lighter bullets on whitetail deer also.
I have friends that use the 25.06 for elk and never had any issues
Head shots are stupid. Base of the neck is better, high shoulder even better.
25-06 is better when zeroed at 200 to 250 yards. It can have a point blank range to at least 300 yards for deer.
Very True
Why not the .270 ?
@@tazman8271 I have harvested elk with a 2506 very good shooter.m77 tang safety dad had a PO Ackley very nice rifle it was stolen

You are very correct!
I live in Montana,my deer gun for years was 25/06. It's devastating on deer. Usually only one shot and they were done. I live in a area where many shots are 300 yds or more. 2 years ago I switched to 270wsm, it's been perfect and a little more power at longer ranges.
I enjoy the paper plates. It shows the new shooter you don't need to spend big bucks on un necessary equipment
Same thing with the rifles. Ruger American and decent 3X9 scope and watch out whitetails.
Yep I also like hunts brother pizza because they have a target on back or at least in my area. So I'd save a few boxes because of that. Plus the pizza ain't half bad. Lol.

I love em all 😝
And the 35 Whelen?
The 7MM-08 is another amazing round, since I was 12 I’ve used a 308, I was a small kid and the gun had a lot of recoil for me at that time,
I had never shot a .243 or a 7MM-08 until this last year, and I was pleasantly surprised with the little to no recoil from either of them, while still being a .308 case essentially, my Son Hunts with the .243 and my nephew hunts with the 7MM-08 and they both have no problem taking a deer down, in fact I believe Whoo_Tee May have a video of him taking a buck with a 7MM-08? And both of them are long range shooting rounds as well.
308 is pretty popular too
If you would Sight In at 3” High at 100 Yards, you could Aim Center Mass Out to 300 Yards, on Deer.
Ol' Dad that the same gun I used to take that moose with it was my dad's rifle, he bought it about 1975 or 76 if I remember correctly.
@@jimdavis3273 There's just something about that rifle. It just oozes quality and durability.
510 yards on a moose with a 25.06 . Someone damn well knows how to shoot.
eac 123 Thanks. Back in the early 80s I did lots of shooting and was a way better shot back then than I am today.
This round has a special place in my heart and the hearts of some very good Quality deer over the years.
I told you that you would love it... Had my Winchester Mod 70 since 1971 , never had a deer run off.
Thanks for watching!
If your gun loves them then why change anything?
One of my favorites... 25-06 Remington! Literally the killer.
Thanks for watching Merlin
The 25-06 is a over bore, like the 243, 6MM Remington 7MM-08, 260 Remington, 6.5 CM
so they perform at their best with med to heavy bullets.
Hard to beat the corelokts.. but with the 25-06 try sight in at 200 and see where it's at 50 and 100. Should be closer dead on all around.
Don't let me down 2506 is one of my favorites

Good information as always 25o6 is a game taker. Do the work behind the rifle ,success. Missed live premiere 😪. Thsnks for all your time Adam
Gotta get the chrono out with good stuff like this!! Love the 25-06!!
Thanks for your great review of the 25-06. It's been a favorite of mine since 1989. I now have 2 rifles chambered in it. It's a really versatile round.
I am a big 2506 fan
I'd think you can push those 85s a good 3-400 fps faster if you wanted to
Love 2506. Only handloads though. 100gr Nosler BT and Partition at 3225 fps.
Great video on the 25-06, as well as the other calibers you have tested. And kudos to you for your channel growth to over 340K subs. That shows that you are providing content that we want to watch... 🤗

Try W/W ammo. I have two 2506. One likes 85 gr other 110grn. Both under 1/2" group. Hell of a gun. Will take elk bull.
👍👍
Been waiting on this one for a while. Just wish Norma produced some boolots for the 25.
Me too!
It's hard to beat the tried and true corelokts my friend. Unless you are hunting out to and past 400 yards then maybe.
I have really liked the Norma 9mm I have bought recently. Price has been good and free shipping was awesome. $.32/rnd with tax.
And if I ever see a deer in ohio where I hunt past 50 yards I'll pass out from excitement
Everyone does it different thats whats great
Thanks WTW, I have the 25-06 that is a built rifle on a Mauser 98 action. I have shot deer with it. It was my father's deer rifle that his brother put together for him. I need to get it out and shoot it some as I do like that caliber and it is a great deer rifle. Sorry I missed the premier on this one. When hunting I tend to get back late so I can't catch all the premiers.

Everyone has thier personal favorite. Iam still in favor of a heavier projectile. Obviously any caliber placed in the right spot can be used. I like the rounds that flip them on thier sides.
Looks like the ruger doesn’t like the ammo. Might want to try another
My longest deer shot was at 880 yards with a Ruger M.77 in 25-06. With that said the .270 Win. is the same thing two calibers bigger with a heavier bullet with a lot more factory loads available and if you reload the variety is almost unlimited.
Good shot!
That's s hail mary shot for most folks
I had to drop down to a 100gr in mine to get a good group. Same thing with my 257 weatherby. The normal twist rate just wouldn't stabilize anything heavier. All my groups now are touching.
Not bad groups. Core-lokt are decent bullets. 25-06 is an excellent deer & antelope chambering. Some folk use it for elk. Great varmint rifle with 75-90 bullets. Thank you

That 25-06 is a pretty sweet looking bullet flinger!🇺🇲✝️🇺🇲
Good stuff! Makes it hard for me choosing one all around hunting caliber. It may come down to ammo availability.

Most underrated gun on the market
You might consider adding the max point blank range to your 1000 yard bullistics presentation. Assumes a 6 inch bullseye, and asks the question, how far can I just point at the deer and be assured to hit within that 6 inch circle (the vitals). It calculates the best range to site in and the maximum point blank (no hold) range.

It’s might be the ultimate deer cartridge for smaller white tails in places like south Texas and is arguably one of the best antelope cartridges. But, the ultimate deer cartridge for deer hunting in wide open country, especially high country mule deer hunting, is the 7MM Rem Mag.
