Herodotus was confident in asserting that the Colchians were Egyptians, and tells us that the Egyptians told him that the remnant of Sesostris' army settled in Colchis. I wonder if any effort has been made to test what Herodotus said on this point about Colchis and Egypt?
nah, it s just another fantasy by Heroditus. Colchians, or their megrelian descendents (like other georgians) have no any genetic connection to egyptians. they are instead genetically quite related to other Caucasians, like ossets or chechens.
The rough area of Colchis is also where the Greeks thought the Amazons may have originated.
