"Opposites attract" - absolute myth. Especially in times of high stress, you naturally look to the familiar, people who understand your values and way of thinking, who you don't need to constantly explain to or argue with (even non agressively), who are already on the same team and have your back. That doesn't mean differences can't work in some cases, but there is usually a LOT more work involved. And relationships are hard enough as it is without deliberately adding more obstacles.
