What a voice! Really like his tone/coloring! And as Tank talked up his multi-instrumentalist credentials it finally clicked he must the Tommy Johansson who did the arrangements on all those Floor covers on her channel... till now that connection went right over my head... now makes me wonder what those two would sound like in a duet... another "random slim chance what-ifs" bucket list item :)
@@ronaldfrechette2045 Hannes' connection clearly gives it a chance, but if TJ is active with 2 bands and FJ is working on her solo record(s), the window of opportunity is limited, especially once the touring restarts in 2022. I assume duets are more work too, so solo covers are more likely. One can always hope, though...
@NP InJest I understand that feeling, when you realize somethings after a while. Living here in the area of Falun and Ludvika in Sweden. A place who has connection to a bunch bands amongst others, Sabaton, Hipocrisy, Pain Ghost and Abys studio. I from time to time have walked by someone from a band, thinking i recognize them as someone living here. Either to hear -Hey J wait.. ore realizing who it was later. My favorite moments of this were in Stockholm nodding saying hi to Doyle W Von F who was talking with Two friends. Now, i have liked Misfits since I was a little boy in the first half of the -80s. However, both Carcass and Arch Enemy are amongst my favorite band since always. But my brain didnt make the connection that the other two was Michael and Alissa. Another time me and a friend was talking to another friend and his friends while watching the fireworks att the end of Metallicas show. In all fairness i should say that i was ( aperantly im a cat ) distracted by the glimmering lights in the sky. I didnt make the connection that the friends of our friend who played befored Metallica, was the other band member. They didnt wear the masks they wear during their shows but i have seen them without masks before. What i am trying to say, is that im a cat with a dysfunctional brain that cant connect. Wich is all that a brain normally does i suppose... so dont mind me..
If you think Tommy cannot be any more awesome then he already is....he has also drawn the artwork for the album cover and the art which is used in the music video to 'the joy of christmas'. Also...the ghost you see in this video is indeed Chris, the bass player. Who portrays the ghost of Jacob Marley in all of the videos for this album. I recommend you check out the entire album as it is indeed a concept album about the story of Ebenezer Scrooge from start to finish!
This entire album is really great! Tommy was my introduction to metal and thank you very much. I think he has the most beautiful voice i have heard in a long time. And he has a beautiful heart to go along with it.😊
The guitar with just a single pickup that Tommy uses is actually a replica that a friend of his built, to Tommy's specs, of a guitar that Gary Moore used on a tour in 1987. I was surprised that he was endorsed by Charvel, so I googled "Tommy Johansson Charvel" and a video from 2016 came up where Tommy talked about the guitar. (I'm guessing that only the neck is Charvel built) The video is on his youtube channel, one of the latest uploads.
Yeah, I saw that video shortly after I uploaded this video and it was really cool. I wish more artists did videos like that and talked about their gear in detail.
Glory of christmas, the official art video by Majestica. All the animated drawings in that video are done by Tommy. Pretty damn amazing, Tommy are quite multi talented artist. And love that song aswell. He has also done a great metal version of Phantom of the opera with German band Dream Ocean. 👍🇸🇪
Tommy is amazing. He can sing, play and even paint. Love the shirt Tank. Thanks for an amazing year both here and on twitch and wish you and your family a merry christmas.
Here Tommy sounded remarcably like Timo Kotipelto of Stratovarius in his best days! Tank, for your own enjoyment I really suggest you check out also Dropkick Murphys "The Season's Upon Us" for some nasty humor about Christmas. Then there is alway Floor performing "Oi Jouluyö" during Raskasta Joulua, for your playlist.
Just to let you know, it's very fun to sing along to the songs from this album, especially this one. I enjoy it so much that I sang every song on a livestream
Tommy got a real classic power metal voice, and their music in general is a bit cheesy, and i LOVE it! :D There is a bit of Luca Turilli's Rhapsody influence in this one :)
Here's a little piece of info, since we go full Christmas mode: ‘Carol of the Bells’ was originally a Ukrainian folk song called "Shchedryk" (meaning "Little Swallow") telling the tale of a Swallow flying into a household to proclaim the plentiful year that this family will have.
So that story about Sabian and Zildjian is essentially the music industry version of Adidas and Puma, where brothers Adolf Dassler and Rudolf Dassler have two companies in the same business.
I love reactions to my favourite bands!🤘 I'm not crazy about traditional Christmas music either. (One exception, though, is actually Tommy's version of "A Holy Night" in Swedish. But it ended like a metal song 🤘😉. Released a few days ago). This Christmas album, along with Sabaton's "Christmas Truce" is my Christmas playlist for this year.
This album is so much fun! As a singer with a classical background (and having done many Christmas “gigs” at churches) I had a lot of fun picking out the carol melodies used throughout the album, and I think it’s a cool and fun way to “freshen up” some of the carols a lot of us are familiar with. Also, the bass player appeared as Jacob Marley’s ghost in this music video. He sings as Marley in the song “Ghost of Marley” and any other time you hear him on the album he’s singing as Marley as well. I also really like how the band’s backup vocals are kind of a “Greek Chorus” for the story, but it also recently just occurred to me that they’re likely singing as the 3 Ghosts of Christmas and they respond to Tommy’s Scrooge throughout the album. If you’d also like to see Tommy wear a Victorian sleeping gown check out the music video for Ghost of Marley. You’ll also see and hear a lot more from the bass player. Lastly, I also really like the MIDI orchestrations they use throughout. It reminds me of similar orchestrations used in the band Dragonland’s music. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were connections to the producers of Dragonland’s albums. Merry Christmas to you and yours, Tank!
Well well well, I was just having a nice little listen to Christmas Truce and here comes Tank busting through the door and bringing it full circle. Great video as always, Tank, and Merry Christmas to you and your family.
You have to throw in "All i Want for Christmas" and "Wynter Fever" by Theocracy in the playlist. Heavy christmas-themed tracks. I know that christmas is technically over, but you can save them for next year ;)
I love this album. I've listened to it straight through several times this season already. I also have an August Burns Red Christmas album that's worth checking out.
On the topic of Christmas albums there is always ''We Wish You a Metal Xmas and a Headbanging New Year'' featuring legends like Lemmy, Alice Cooper and DIO and many more
You know which channel I think is super underrated? Metal Piano Music. The guy spends weeks composing classic metal songs into classical/relaxing piano pieces and he hardly gets any views. I love his arrangement of Painkiller by Judas Priest. That dude deserves millions of followers
A very Happy Christmas to you and your family, Tank! Thanks for all the interesting and fun hours in these difficult times, you and your videos helped a lot. 🎄😊
There is a whole series of metal christmas albums, on which some of Finland's finest metal artists appear. The albums are called "Raskasta Joulua" (literally "Have a heavy Christmas"). Most albums are in Finnish, but there is one English album called "Ragnarok Juletide". The artists performing on those albums include Marco Hietala, Floor Jansen, Tarja Turunen, Ari Koivunen, Antti Railio, Jarkko Ahola, Ville Tuomi, Tony Kakko, JP Leppäluoto etc...
If you need more stuff for your Christmas playlist i recommend checking out "A Pirate stole my Christmas" from "Ye banished Privateers" a folk/shanty style pirate take on a christmas album released earlier this month.
I honestly think Tommy is completely underutilized by Sabaton, the guy is a fantastic singer and songwriter in his own right and he rarely gets to really flex with them. Kind of like what you said about Jeff Loomis in the Arch Enemy video.
My brother brother from another mother I'm the same way. Lol. Much love to you and the family. Merry Christmas to you Tank and your family brother. Great song by the way amazing work.
Tank, you absolutely need to see Metal United by Majestica. Also check out the new Feuerschwanz tune “Ultima Nocte”. Looking forward to more Orden Ogan reactions too! 🤘🏻🙂
I think it’s time to check out Blind Guardian’s Christmas song from last year, Merry Xmas Everybody. It’s super fun, super catchy, and Hansi plays bass and wears a wig that makes him look like Blackie Lawless.
Oh for metal christmas music in general I have to recomend Ragnarok Juletide which is a collaboration between Finnish/Swedish metal singers where they sing christmas songs in english. There is also a Finnish/Swedish version of the album under the name Raskasta Joulua which I guess is the original. Out of all the songs I recomend 'Christmas is here' with Elise from Amaranthe and Toni from Sonata Arctica. And Merry Christmas!
Hearing some Beast in Black on the background... is this a sign of things to come? 😁 I still think you should definitely check out their new album. Anyways, have a great Christmas! 🤘
Kool review- I definitely need to check out more Majestica. Xmas metal music wise my go to is TSO of course. I recently discovered a version of O Come All ye Faithful by Twisted Sister- which is exactly what one would expect to sound like.. Check it out if you haven’t seen it.
Are you going to make recap of the year and told us your favorite bands you have discovered from recommendations made to you after creating this channel? For me my fav discoveries through this channel are Orbit Culture, Shadow of Intent and Orden Ogan(not in any particular order) and well Lorna Shore could also be in that list but not sure if I heard that first time in this channel or somewhere else
Is it just me or does the intro of this song kinda sound like Sabaton's recently released musical snipped of "Soldier of Heaven"? I mean Joakims voice from that song sounds like very similar melody to an instrument I cannot quite pin down (guitar or synth prehaps?) in this song's intro. I mean Joakim could probably song over this intro and it might fit. Is my description any good? I hope you know what I mean, I kinda suck at describing music... Anyway, nice reaction. The song itself is okay I think, there is something about the music of Majestica, or at least this one song, that puts me off but again, I cannot really pin it down :|
Tank please do I Am Abomination. They have a new album not that old. Came out this year and it’s a banger! Chris Turner from Oceans Ate Alaska did the drums for it. You would love it!

Tommy’s voice is incredible! The best description of his voice is “soaring”.
Finally Tommy's band is getting some love.
This was one of my favorite albums last year. Every song is 🔥 and the two new songs add so much from the album
This entire album is really great! Tommy was my introduction to metal and thank you very much. I think he has the most beautiful voice i have heard in a long time. And he has a beautiful heart to go along with it.😊
The joy of christmas with Majestica is ewen better And there he shows his skills on piano And the voice Wow 😏

I'd really love to see Tommy co-lead vocals on a Sabaton song at some point. Some soaring highs over Joakim's baritone grit would be fantastic.

A Christmas Carol is actually a really good album!
Tommy got a real classic power metal voice, and their music in general is a bit cheesy, and i LOVE it! :D

I love Luca Turilli's Demonheart. First heard it from Travis the Moonstar like 14 years ago, lol. th-cam.com/video/oZ8-ETHE9AI/w-d-xo.html
It’s unapologetically cheesy and I adore it. Would absolutely jam to Christmas power metal
I love this album!

This album and August Burns Red's Sleddin' Hill are the two best Christmas albums of all time.
Niiiccee man!! you must react to Majestica - Ghost of christmas past !! The guy with the chains is Tommy's brother I think 🤔
merry christmas happy new year

God Jul 🎄👍🏻
Avatars new song cruel and unnusual is so good! Maybe not a reaction video, but god dang you need to hear it ;D

Okay, I don't like 'traditional' Christmas songs. Hahaha
Try Onkel Tom Angelripper (singer from Sodom) with „ich glaube nicht an den Weihnachtsmann“ 40min of xmas Metal
