Don't listen to negativity, stay away! For this guy to come and tell you this and that is trying to put you off from what I understand. Don't despair we are All with you. You need to continue from where you have left.
Hello christopher Good afternoon, Europe, better the EU, is only space for the big monopolies, the small ones can't do anything, it's not the United States of America that is in the hands of the monopolies, but Europe, whoever doesn't have money and big size can't do anything . I'm Portuguese and European, I'm fed up with the EU, if I could I would go to the USA, in this country everyone has the opportunity not here. Our American colleagues at Basenotes, for example, can make the perfumes they want, bureaucracy is minimal, here, this looks like a dictatorship, small has no place... I once tried to legally make some handmade soaps it was so complicated that I gave up. If I were younger I would try to emigrate to another continent, Europe is of no interest to anyone: Sorry about your case. A big hug and let's talk.
Don't let Americans read that lol. They think America is bad. I try to explain that we have more freedoms and ability to do things here than other countries. Good luck with everything!
@@drgnzadiel101 Maybe you don't know but Germany is an extremely limited country in what you can even say, talking about that dictator who lost World War II, they can't even say his name, Germany is a kind of hostage for having lost war, Germany is a puppet of the Americans... I could live in any country, in Germany never...
A visit to a facility, in this case your home, office and laboratory, could have been prompted by a complaint. Did you ask? Did they say? It sounds like it was a surprise visit. A visit without making an appointment is unusual, so as to catch you in the middle of doing something illicit or illegal. You must have checked their credentials during the visit. Government agencies and departments employ surveyors who go out in the field and investigate complaints. Government agencies are not known for opening an investigation without a push from the outside. They have nothing to gain from opening an investigation besides more work. And going after a little guy is not going to make them famous. They may make on-site recommendations or collect information to take back to the office for analysis and further action. They may, during the visit, overstep their authority, if they actually have any. A written summary of their findings, recommendations, and the official reason for the visit should have been left with you at their departure.
I understand this is a year old and hope you managed to cut through all the ridiculous bureaucracy. I strongly suspect cosmetic regulations have been lobbied for by the major international players to inhibit competition - this is the kind of thing that happens in other industries too. As someone who handmakes cosmetics, I was very interested to learn that many 'regulations' cannot be enforced by courts unless it's something that relates directly to a statute Act, such as The Consumer Protection Act, in the UK. I wouldn't know if the same applies in Germany. I'd also like to know why artisans who make food to sell, don't have to jump through a million hoops and have their recipes assessed when they are manufacturing things that go INSIDE the body, not just on it? It seems peculiar and very unreasonable to me that food regulations are actually less rigorous.
www.jbparfum.com/ Its free! and it does all of the math for you. It lets you scale up and down and monitors your formula in relation to IFRA limitations. It already has a substantial inventory, but you can add your own oils to the library. I downloaded a CVS file from IFRA and updated the IFRA limitations. There are instructions for how to do this.
Are they that prudish in Germany? That's sorta shocking to me tbh. Then appearing unannounced is odd. No call no nothing? Don't worry. Keep pushing! Are you going to sell to the Americas?
Who were visiting you exactly? These people better not come to me. However, there are others who startet very small, like Erik Kormann for example. So it should be possible I think. Don't give up on your dreams.
The "Fachdienst Veterinärwesen und Verbraucherschutz - Lebensmittelkontrolleur" came. They are the local "Behörde" for this area and from what we read they will check the production premises and that the product is safe. I guess because we live a bit more remote they were that fast, in bigger cities they probably have more on their plate. They said that there is also a kind of task force scrolling through the Internet to clear up/check all the products that are already out there. We were also told if the product was already in the sales with just the safety certificate and not there go ahead they would have sued us if they found something not up to the mark. It would be actually great to get in contact with someone who has already went on this journey to understand if it is possible to apply with GMP also at home. We already read at one of the companies that do the safety certificate check that there are no exemption for smaller businesses, but on the other hand you don't need to get GMP certifite, so it's all rather confusing. Renting a space that complies with GMP seems out of reach when starting with a small batch and it strange to think that all small businesses producing soap, perfume etc. out there are doing that. Our understanding was also that perfume contrary to soap is a lower risk product because of the high Ethanol content- Chris's wife ;)
@@sw6164 Well yes, but soap is a rinse off product, perfume stays on the skin. Did you ever go to Lush? They used to have small perfumes in small brown bottles from the pharmacy. They were SELLING those perfumes, which didn't have a package nor any allergenes printed out. How about all the vaccines and THEIR safety, this stuff is going into your body... I also want to start selling my perfumes and need to find out how. Erik Kormann is or was selling his own perfumes in Berlin, but I don't know if we can contact him. Maybe it's possible, we shall see. If I find out anything, I'm gonna let you know.
@@mybad4101 Indeed. Sounds good, will do the same, we will actually start an overview/list because there seem to be several things next to safety certificate and PID File, she also mentioned the "Eichgesetz", which would mean calibrated trade scales. I have been following your journey closely since one of my dreams is just do what you are doing and I have the fear of "governametal" people will come to myplace and say... you cannot make perfume because of this, that, and that without understanding the process... It seems everything is about money and making it difficult. I hope you cand find a solution ans find your path. You are inspiring lots of people. Please keep sharing your journey and keep us posted. I think my response would have been in your shoes to this annonymus visitor, I don't know who you are what you represent nor do I care or need too, and nor do I need to explain myself. Leave you are tresspassing, end of story. Pretty exciting how your making a go of it really good to hear, so hope it works out for you. Jim Bowermann founder of Nike started from humble beginings, his first prototype was made on his wifes waffle iron certainly had the vision and appetite. I'm only just getting back into it again after a 6 month hiatus where I had relapsed back into alcohol, I've ceased drinking over the past couple of weeks and very much need to remain abstinient since I was very addicted to it. So I'm still currently in recovery mode and just kind of easing back into it, I've very much missed perfumery. But yeah just for now I'm just consantrating on looking after myself since I had ended up in hospital with pancreatitus threw my struggle with my addiction with alcohol, certainly a experience I won't forget nor do I wish to relieve. On that note I leave it at that and wish you all the best with your journey, you know what your doing I'm sure it will work out. Kind regards Adrian cheers.
I'm sorry to hear about your struggles with alcohol 😞 It's a hard habit to kick. I know personally how much damage that can cause. I watched my dad drink himself into oblivion. I hope you find healthier outlets and I hope you can abstain from drinking alcohol. Stick to making perfume with it instead 😂
@@scentuality3377 yeah I'm over the worst of it now and doing really well. And really getting back into the groove of things made a few more newbies I too will start selling some stage this year. What happens if you make your product as an "olfactory art installation " instead of perfume? Do they have rules against art?

Actually Ive overcome all the hurdles and now I can legaly manufacture perfume to sell. I will be making an update video in the coming days.
