THIS right here is why Mick went out and recruited him into the band. Lindsey Buckingham is on my list of GOAT guitarists of the Rock Era. Top 5 actually.
And it's notable that when Fleetwood Mac kicked Lindsey out of the band, in order to tour they had to replace him with TWO musicians.
i would put david gilmour as no. 1 myself... lindsey is very good tho....
@@blwilson1000 I agree on Gilmour being #1. I said Buckingham is in my TOP 5.
yes i can go along with that too.........@@Altman1953
I think Mick obviously knew too there was no longer really a place for a bluesy band anymore, not if you wanted to be front & center of things.......6 yrs before MTV, he saw the writing on the wall. It was a defining move bringing the two of them, getting the two of them.
If you like this, you should look at Lindsey's live performance of "Big Love" from this same concert, wherein all the other band members leave the stage, and Buckingham enthralled that same crowd with just his voice and AN ACOUSTIC GUITAR! 😲
Based on this reaction, there is no doubt, you need to check out the "Big Love" performance.
On Big Love, he plays the bass line with his thumb, then plays the rhythm line with fingers 3 and 4 (I think) and picks the solo with his first two. SIMULTANEOUSLY. Oh, and he does the vocal, too. Incredible performance.
If you think Buckingham was the GOAT then you obviously haven’t listened to Peter Green and Fleetwood Mac. Green was considered by many to be the best guitarist of his day, and that included Page, Clapton and Hendrix.
Absolutely!! And Bleed to Love Her.
YES👍👍👍👍
One of my favorite songs....ever..... love Lindsey
Two words: "Big Love"
You're welcome 😊
If you've never heard Lindsey sing, that means you've never heard Never Going Back Again. Amazing guitar work (and vocals) by Lindsey. He essentially plays two guitar parts, simultaneously.
Mind-blowing
Lindsey to me is quite underrated. He's a great singer and a great guitarist. My favorite song with such a great vibe is I'm in Trouble in 1981. You may dig that awesome song, many do.
Not a guitar player, but I appreciate a master. This is both haunting and sensual. No pick, just straight plucking.❤
This whole performance is elite!!
That's one of the great things about the groups we adored in the 1970's...many of them didn't have a designated lead singer. Fleetwood Mac, Toto, Eagles, just to name a few, were all bands with multiple talented writers/vocalists. Some really great harmonies came from those groups, and all of their songs didn't sound alike.
You know when Lindsey gets that bob going he's definitely givin ya the juice!!!
Don’t overlook John McVie on bass guitar. He’s truly amazing. 🌈💕✨
right that bass sets the tone. great.
You must react to bleed to love her! His vocals are insane! Not to mention Chains ❤
Lindsey is a guitar god. Mick is criminally underrated as a drummer. Another hard song of theirs that I love is "Eyes of the World".
I bought this video back in mid 2000's soon after my husband died. The whole concert is so beautiful and amazing, and I had never seen Lindsay play or sing. I was so blown away and wept uncontrollably in disbelief of how perfectly he expressed the primal scream in our soul. Seems your reaction is the same! So awesome 😊
I was first a Lindsey Buckingham solo artist fan back in 1992 with his Out of the Cradle album that would play on the radio (Countdown and Soul Drifter). I had to work my way back into discovering Fleetwood Mac just to hear more of him. I ended up developing a taste for Fleetwood Mac in general and an appreciation for all of the artists within the band, but Lindsey was and remains my absolute most favourite musician of all time. I can't even begin to describe what his music has brought to and created in my life. In short, I would not be the same person had I never known his music.
What's amazing about this song I find, in particular, is its evolution with time. How the brilliance of it never wavers from its first recording decades prior to the last performance decades later, yet, how it changes era by era. Its tone differs and matures with the ages. It's an expanding masterpiece within itself.
You should definitely check out their live performance of this song back in 75 (when the album came out) at Santa Barbara college. It's in the outdoor stadium and the video is here on TH-cam it's "I'm So Afraid" (the rosebud video)
I have to admit I didn’t know Lindsey played guitar like this until I saw them live. He did an insane solo during The Chain that blew me out of my seat. I felt honored to be there.
Lindsey is often on lead vocals. Stevie is just one of three lead singers in the band, along with Lindsey and Christine McVie. You need to dive deeper.
He's also a fantastic guitarist who too often doesn't get his due, and has sometimes even been denigrated by some of the Peter Green purists who think the only real Fleetwood Mac is the old Peter Green stuff and that Buckingham and Nicks ruined it. I don't think there's many of those but I've ran across them.
Personally, I am a big fan of both Green and Buckingham, and both old and new Fleetwood Mac.
I love all eras but this is best!
Fans of the original lineup of Fleetwood Mac always like to tell everyone that the original was the best. I dare anyone to show me one example of them being better than Lindsey Buckingham on guitar. Just one, can't be done.
Listening to Lindsey play Green's Oh Well is proof enough he more than measures up to the bands predecessors.
He’s in my top 5 too! 😊
My FAVORITE classic rock band ever! Lindsey was always so underrated. He is a phenomonal guitar player. Atevie is my idol too. I just love her so much
You gotta dive into more of his and Christine’s songs!!!!
It’s alway fun to see you get blown away by each of them. From Stevie to Christine to Lindsey to Mick to John. They will always be the very definition of cool. Rip Christine
I’ll have more videos out later, just had to publish this one first.
“What is the dance 1977, well that’s a live album that came out in 1977.” I meant to say 1997 folks, I clearly understand the album and performance are from 1997, I just misspoke. Sorry!
I’ve always have loved Lindsey, I even named my daughter after him
He's the best arpeggio finger picking style guitarist out there
Lindsey B is the bomb on a guitar. Check out a solo of his called Trouble, particularly the TOTP video. He is coked out of his mind, or goofing big time because he hated lip synching. There is also the official video of Trouble with Bob Welch, Mick Fleetwood and the video is against a white background and very cool. Mad mad skills on guitar on that osng.
Big Love is another solo of his that is just amazing. He did Holiday Road for a Nat'l Lampoon movie that you'd never believe was by him. An absolutely vastly underrated guitarist. He picked until his fingers bled from what I've read onstage for FM performances.
The Four times I saw in Fleetwood Mac in concert Lindsay performed this song.....and he torn it up......and couple of times SMASHED his guitar on the stage into pieces and Threw it out into the crowd......also...you have not explored their albums before.....then you would have heard Lindsay displaying his talent....that's why I tell reactors to go into the albums of these artist and bands to get a full knowledge of what talent was displayed wnen my generation bought their albums because we heard the hit song but wanted to hear more from the artist....the albums usually had so many great songs on them that weren't release as "Hits." Glad you enjoyed the song and the performance!!!
I love him, he's my favorite out of the group and has really excellent solo stuff as well.
So glad to see someone finally react to this. It's always been my favorite Fleetwood Mac live song. He kills it every time.
Yeah, you walked right into a whole other side of Fleetwood Mac. This is like walking into the UnderDark, and discovering a side of the universe that you have no idea existed.
This is one of my favorite songs by them. Nothing today can even come close to this song, this is music !!!
This concert was incredible!!! I saw them during this tour!!!! So amazing live!!💕💕🎵🎼🎶🎤🎹🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🎸🎸🎸🎸🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘
One of the greatest and most unique guitarists. He is self taught and incorporated banjo picking techniques into his style of playing. He’s been called the “guitar player’s guitarist” respected among other artists. Too under appreciated by the masses. I love just watching him on the guitar! His solo work is fantastic!
Lindsey has one of the most amazing picking styles I've ever seen!!!
Lindsey is a self taught guitarist...he sings the songs he writes...stevie sings the songs she writes and Christine sings the songs she writes. Lindsey is abslotlutely amazing..and back when he and stevie were a couple and mick fleetwood asked him to be in the band..he said well you have to take my gf too we're a oackage deal....stevie got alot of attention right away...and lindsey is actually the one the creates the music for stevies poems aka songs...she will start with a melody and words..and lindsy turns them into liquid gold to the ears...when they broke up..he has said in interviews..its hard to do that with her songs because of the hurt he never stipped loving her...and both feel if didnt join fm wld have got married...this song was about her btw that Lindsey wrote....all their songs about eachother
This particular performance is the best live performance of this superb song. One of his best.
Fleetwood Mac has x 3 lead vocalists- Lindsey, Christine and Stevie. Lindsey and Christine are also master musicians and play a range of instruments. All 3 are songwriters with Lindsey (primarily), and Christine arranging the majority of the songs. Lindsey is also a producer. Later Fleetwood Mac credits him as their producer with the earlier albums credited to the whole band. IMO, he's the most underrated person in music, possibly ever. Any live setting is where Lindsey shines. FM live is where the bang is, great in the studio but live is just another thing entirely. Some of their full tours are on this platform, Japan '77, Mirage 82, The Dance '97, Tusk '79 and much more if you dig deep.
It's a shame Fleetwood mac fired Linsey Buckingham because Stevie Nicks refused to work with him anymore. That was a big mistake. He is amazing! He later sued and they settled out of court.
I'm so glad that you're properly informed. Lindsey is awesome. One of the best ever, IMHO 😂 PLEASE listen to "Big Love/Go Insane", the best one is the live one from A Place in time. 9:19 long. You'll thank me❤Listen to all their songs.❤
Big Love , live is a good one too.
This whole concert was stellar. Nobody ever touches on their last album, but Lindsey did a gnarly, gnarly solo at the end of a song called "Come". Also, you need to do "Tusk" from this concert, it's mind blowing!
Come live is brilliant. A damn shame FM never played it again after the 2003-2004 tour though he did play it solo. I wish someone would react to it. Agreed on Tusk '97.
@caps689 I'd like to see more from the Say You Will album, it was amazing!
@@PriestessOfNothing Just top notch - Come, Miranda, Red Rover, Everybody Finds Out, Thrown Down, Illumine, Say Goodbye, Destiny Rules, Steal Your Heart Away ...
Lindsey Buckingham is a beast on the guitar in Big Love, from the same show- this is very mild in comparison. It’s just Lindsey- no one else- and it will blow you away!
Definitely check out this Big Love! Just amazing.
Salvo, you should watch this entire Concert, it is amazing.
If you want to hear what Christie McVie brings, try Songbird... one of the most beautiful songs ever written in my opinion.
Absolutely! Right up there with Silver Springs, imo.
Agree. It's beautiful.
Pick up the concert video of this show titled THE DANCE!! You'll LOVE IT!!
I saw an acoustic show by Lindsey a few years ago. I have seen hundreds of concerts (including Fleetwood Mac), but his show was the most intense I have ever seen. I was unable to sleep that night because of the intensity of the show.

He is sooooo underrated....
"Big Love" from the Dance is next level Lindsey
This song reminds me of the very early Fleetwood Mac, the stuff from before Christine joined the band in the early seventies. The were a blues band. They did a lot of instrumental numbers on their early albums and had a hit with Albotross. The classic lineup had 3 singer-songwriters, Christine, Stevie and Lindsey. Stevie's solo success has overshadowed the others but the songs are still there to be adored and respected, but more emportantly to be heard.
That guitar solo was ABSOLUTEY AMAZING!!
If you like this you will love Big Love/Go Insane by Lindsey. The version you want is posted by "A Place in Time" (it's 9:19 minutes). Its the best thing I've seen Lindsey do, I'm serious.
Lindsey’s playing on their Mirage Tour (1982) video made me a lifelong FM and LB fan.
:-)
LB basically produced FM + finger picking!
Mick is killing it on the 🥁 And having a great time
The drums definitely don't get enough appreciation on the live performances of this song. It's truly a 40/40 deal with the bass picking up the rest......
Lyndsay is the best singer in the band. Check out Monday Morning & Blue Letter. & Big Love
You have to watch THE CHAIN Live 1982 performance. You will love it!
Lindsey is the GOAT. Please please please do Big Love from the same concert.
Mick and Lindsey are complete geniuses!!!🎵🎼🎶🎤🎸🎹🥁🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘💜
Love how much you loved this performance. Eye opening isn’t it?
Lindsay Buckingham is an amazing guitarist. Honestly, I wouldn’t see them without him.
Check out his mad guitar skills on the song Big Love
This song and "The Chain" are my fave Fleetwood Mac tunes. Dark, intense and haunting tension building
Have you not heard Go Your Own Way? That was his lead vocal and his breakup song to Stevie (hers being Dreams).
I gotta check it out
A very underrated guitar player
Fantastic!
I’ve been waiting for this one !!! 🎸 🔥♥️ Lindsey really shows us his talent with this one 👍🏼 Love your reaction 🥰 I consider this one of their best!! Christine’s haunting keys, the bass & percussion, then there are the vocals 🔥🎤
You may not have gotten your "Stevie" fix....but we got our "Lindsey" fix!!!! Totally KILLER song!!!!🎶🎼🎵🎹🎸🥁🎤🎧🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘
One of my favorite Fleetwood Mac songs. The first time I saw them in 1975 I was amazed at how they sounded like a much heavier rock band. Amazed doesn't really describe it. Enjoyed watching with you!
Listen to "Come" if you want FM hard rock!
Lindsey is a huge talent that often gets overlooked because you only see his true skills in a live setting. Check out The Chain 1982, Big Love from The Dance, and well, any live performance because him and Mick just bounce off each other.
Lindsey and his guitar become one being during that solo. what's more amazing is he doesn't use a pick! just an incredible live performance.
“Big love” from this concert is unmatched….
He does not get the recognition he deserves as a guitar player
People don't realize there's really two Fleetwood Macs, the one in the studio and the one on stage. Live Fleetwood Mac is a monster.
Stevie Nicks has her fans. But this performance is why I think BOTH Lyndsey Buckingham (on lead guitar) and Mick Fleetwood (on drums) in my viewpoint are the most underrated musicians in Rock History.
This song is pure insanity. Utter brilliance.
The Dance as a full concert is amazing. You should definitely watch it.
Mick and Lindsey were in their own world and allowed us entry!
To hear more Lindsay's fantastic guitar playing, I suggest the song, Go Insane, from the same concert. This concert, called The Dance, was made into a movie. The DVD is fantastic.
Fleetwood Mac - Big Love - The Dance 1997
I have watched this concert bro about 1000 times! IMO, it's one of the greatest concerts ever! The entire show is amazing, just like this song and and performance by Lindsay. Thx Salvo!!
My favorite song from Fleetwood Mac is "HOLD ME" (original video). Lots of Lindsay Buckingham and Christine McVie singing in it ❤❤
Lindsey is the best.
I made the same discovery about LB about 2 years ago listening to this very song. I was speechless and I never had pictured him as that kind of a guitar player. There is a version of this that they recorded in 1977 in a outdoor concert setting and that is also special.
Don’t Stop from the same concert is so freaking amazing!
Christine McVie passed away last November, and you need to hear her sing Songbird, a song she wrote for her husband John McVie, the bass player. They divorced, but the song always made John cry when she played it in concert. It's just her on the piano, and she will amaze you with her talent, too. She was the female singer/songwriter in the band before Stevie and Lindsey came along, and they all wrote song great songs, and that's one reason Fleetwood Mac can sound SO different, but amazing.
Fleetwood Mac is a compilation of powerful performers. There really are no second string here.
Fantastique morceau je le connais depuis le début et je l'aime toujours
I loved this concert--and I sure loved Lindsey's solo stuff!! You need to hear "Big Love" (same concert)!
Lindsey is one of the most underrated guitarist.
The one and only song from Fleetwood Mac I ever liked, will like for eve from heart. So much underrated.
Should see the version he does this song LIVE in the 90s and another LIVE of this in the 70s...just simply mind blowing performances
This is one of the most savory guitar solos of all time!
Whatever live version you pick, Lindsey hypnotizes his audience with his overwhelming performances. He is just such a natural talent who taught himself to play guitar. Personally I think this version is the lesser one, only because his microphone was not amplified accurately. His singing is just as emotional as his guitarplaying. So sincere!
One of their best tunes for sure.
You should check out Buckingham’s solo work too, Salvo - tons of great tunes and guitar work!
Gosh Salvo...I just love it when Lindsay has the spotlight...and so glad that you shared this video today! As others have commented, Lindsay is so underrated but he is such a brilliant composer, lyricist, guitarist and vocalist - imo, one of the best amidst the many greats of the era. You can see Lindsay pouring his soul into this song...so emotional, heart wrenching...he makes that guitar weep...PERFECTION! Thanks for a great reaction! I love seeing you being so surprised - and so appreciative - of this fantastic music created, produced and performed by incredibly talented musicians. Thanks!
Your next two Fleetwood Mac reactions should definitely be Big Love and Go Your Own Way from this same concert. They both feature Lindsey at his absolute best!
I like Stevie, but Lindsey is the one that got me hooked on Fleetwood Mac over 40 years ago. Please look at performances from their 1982 live tour. (Mirage tour). Lindsey on The Chain is as good and intense as it gets. You should also look at Not That Funny live from the 1982 tour. And since you really like Stevie, from the same concert, watch Sisters of the Moon. It's incredible. And one more suggeston: Listen to Frozen Love from their Buckingham Nicks album. All of these are easy to find on TH-cam.
