You said the word 'unworthy' a couple of times, and I understand the sentiment (especially after watching the Tales), but I *highly* recommend checking out Ren's 1 Million Subscribers video. Its a little different, but trust me when I say that its a beautiful and important message that I believe would be well-received on the channel. Its an overwhelmingly positive message of acceptance and inclusiveness that really conveys that we're all very much worthy In a way that only Ren can do.
One of the most wonderful things about Ren and his music IMHO is the community that has manifested around it. Ren has been able to bring people together the world over by shining a bright light on some very tough subjects. His ability to open up and bare his soul so completely has fostered non-judgemental safe places for people to come together and be acknowledged through shared experience and oftentimes find ways to heal through the support of a beautifully supportive and loving community.
Absolutely. And maybe watch (for yourself, its nothing that should be "reacted" to) his chapters he recently released on his second channel renmakesstuff. They led up to the release of his new song "Troubles" (both versions are fantastic btw.) and goes deep into Rens story. It is heartwrenching and -warming at the same time.

OMG you guys are adorable! Just discovered you today. I am a Ren Head and the perspective of his "Home Folk" is very interesting to me. Please guys react to more Ren please! I strongly suggest "Ocean", "Humble", and "Hold On". Very much feel good music for sure. It would make my day, and I think you and Mum will dig it so much too. Long Days, Pleasant Nights to you both
Ren is indeed a genius, a fantastic performer, singer, actor, songwriter, composer, etc, etc he can do it all... and all the small tidbits that you might have missed by seeing this for the first time:
- the way he uses his words and sets the scene for example when he could've simply say that Screeched stabbed Jenny he did it in a much more poetic way, just the same when jenny froze he say it in a fantastic manner that sets a scene in your head...
The way he used the Guitar to knock on the door in Screech's tale, the frantic video going around him while he stood still to show the state of mind Screech was in, how he used the phone in the middle of the song with pauses and all to wait for the call to connect... how he said the police were coming instead of just saying "the police are coming" is truly amazing, and how he said that Screech was going against the police without saying just the obvious words... how he alternates between characters and narrator... how he uses the guitar to fire the shots and the cameraman getting shot and falling to the floor... an amazing storyteller.
- The way he tells that history repeats itself on Violet's tale, from being abused by her father to the cycle repeating with her boyfriend that ends up killing her... the way he knocks on the door and then shows how he picks her eyelids and opens them and he's right there face first on the camera, out of focus... how he again uses the guitar to simbolize the sounds of violence when Stevie hits Violet, like a crashing pilot!
- The way he rewinds time at the start of Violet's Tale when he says "We must rewind time for Violet's Tale" and then he makes the rewind time sound with the guitar and then starts Violet's story... then after Violet gets beaten up he uses the guitar again, this time to un-rewind time and gets us back to the start of the song when you heard the sounds of the hospital machines, now we know why those sounds were there and how everything happened... it's pure genius!!!
- Also, it's inevitable to draw parallels between Jenny and Violet and Screech and Stevie (his father) and the grandfather... despite not knowing any of their relatives, Jenny was just like her mother, Violet was silent, didn't fight back when she was abused and ended up being killed... Jenny when confronted by Screech completely froze, like a statue, wasn't able to move, to say anything, to defend herself, just like her mother...
Screech was violent and troubled and ended up a murderer just like is father was...
All very tragic!!
- To tie it all up, the Tales from Jenny and Screech were recorded in 2019 and Violet's tale is, because of that set in 2005 (two zero zero five), 14 years before because in Jenny's tale we are told that Screech was 14 years old!

They had to invent a new genre for Ren - "Bard core". In case you hadn't heard or noticed, these were live performances. As I've heard, Ren saw a story about a young boy on trial for stabbing a prostitute and was struck by all the people in the comments saying "it's such a shame" and then moving on without any examination of how these two people came to that nexus point. So he decided to write this masterpiece examining cycles of violence. Ren's longtime friend and frequent video collaborator, Samuel Perry-Falvey, really knows how to capture and expand Ren's art and I've almost become as much a fan of Sam as I have of Ren.

"Ren - Bittersweet Symphony (The Verve)" with another frequent video collaborator, Luke Flegg. The bass player from The Verve saw this cover and sent Ren a guitar in appreciation.
Ren's live duets with the artist Chinchilla are emotional, but Ren and Chinchilla consider each other artistic siblings. The two of them together are just incredible - "How to Be Me" or
"Chalk Outlines" - and then you should check out some of Chinchilla's work.

There is a Brighton performance of this called The Tales of Jenny and Screech (full 360 live)
It was done in Brighton to a huge crowd that gathered in a back street. The crowd knows all of the
words and participates with the Screech rage parts. It also has some extra material called London City in the middle.
They love Ren in Brighton. The crowd is really cool

IMHO the Tale of Jenny and Screech is a Three Act Shakespearian Tragedy, in the style of the wondering minstrel bard. Ren has self identified his music as bard core, so that is confirmed. This is an ancient style of music; that goes right back through the wondering minstrel bards of the middle ages. The works of Chaucer sung in the Wife of Bath's ale house. And back to the Dark Ages of Anglo Saxon epic poetry of Beowulf, on through the Greek Homeric tales of The Iliad and The Odyssey and the beginning of the Choir. This form of story telling probably goes all the way back to Ugg twanging his Bow to woo the Chiefs Daughter or complain about the Chief stealing the meat from his hunt, at the hut of the Widow Ale Wife, where he and others would congregate to let off steam and tell tales of epic hunts; to then draw on the local cave walls, like the graffiti in The Tales. The music acted in part as interlude/intro as well as melodic emphasis and sound effects for the story. Also I think you spotted Ren's use of locational reverb in the sound engineering. They also got lucky with the Seagulls in part of the song which then was deliberately left in and emphasized in the mix. All of that indicates the intellectual level of the performance production in this piece of art.
It is exciting watching his career unfold, I feel like we are seeing a John Lennon or Prince or Bowie, he is definitely one of these types of artists

Ren actually does have quite a few songs you could sing a long to in the car. Check out Power, The Hunger, Ocean, any of the Love Music tracks, 1, 2, 3, or 4. 3 is my favorite. That's not even all of them or including anything from The Big Push. That's what makes him so versatile. When I had the chance to meet him, I just said hi and congratulated him on his #1. He thanked me and gave me a hug. It was a short moment that will stay with me forever if I never get the chance to see him again. He was incredibly gracious. ❤

I saw him perform this live at the Secret Garden Party a few weeks ago and he is so down to earth he was just wondering around the festival with us mere mortals. I felt just like you described unworthy to stop him and tell him how incredible he is. His show was as you can imagine, utterly amazing! People came from all over the world to see him, America, Australia, Europe. It was such an incredible vibe, the sense of community he creates is magical. Ren is a gift to us all and I am so grateful I got to see him perform live. Hearing thousands of people sing along to every word of his songs was heart warming. Everyone I spoke to is so protective of him and his talent. Love Ren. Love your reactions to him, please do more. There's lots of his busking in Brighton with the big push on youtube, and I love his older stuff, Heretic, Diazepam, and Money games part 3 is another film master piece. And his piano piece Mckay is just a show piece of his talet as a musician. ❤

The bard returns possessed by a modern zeitgeist. Ren is an artist for this era, but with a very old soul which echoes a nearly extinct craft. A self-taught bard for today to bring us a better tomorrow. He is precious.

Ren got the idea for Jenny tale from a news paper he read about a 14 year old boy that kill a streetwalker with a knife
Not true. Why do you need to make stuff up? The non made up news was that he read a news story about young hoods and knife attacks. There was nothing directly related to the trilogy.

The Jenny tale was inspired by Ren from a newspaper article. It was about a young prostitute getting murdered by a young mugger youth in either London or Swindon some 40 miles east of London..
Anyway, he ran with that news story and produced the Jenny tale. Some months later, he added the Screech tale.. It's took another two years thereabouts to finally get the brainwave of Voilets tale ..
The trilogy is a pure master piece and will be lorded in history in some 300 years.!!

Ren went 10 years before getting the proper, correct, diagnosis, which is Lyme disease. He’s been getting various treatments now, and continues to be working on treatment for chronic Lyme disease (late stage 3 of chronic Lyme disease), a condition that’s not easy to recover from.
This on going chronic Lyme disease condition, is also most likely to have caused ALL his Other Health Conditions / Health Battles, including Mental Health Battles.

Before Ren released the trilogy he did a video where his phone was stolen by Screech and videos popped up showing Screech with his girlfriend and Patrick.
It nearly backfired as Rens friends reported the videos and subscribers blocked Ren. TH-cam even threatened to stop Ren. I was so realistic!!

Ren is a man of many talents and if you know his life story is a life of great pain and struggle and hes made his way out of it and in my opinion has fueled his talent to greater heights. Hardship brings emotion out of people especially performers when performing you feel like you are there and feel what they are feeling. This man is an inspiration for us all. If I could make 2 reccomendations 1) This would be his newest single "Troubles" that pretty much compacts a bit of his life story into song/rap and his journey...and 2) Ren if you dont know was part of a wonderful band and all extremely talented musicians in their own right but decided to go there seperate ways for a bit. They had busked many times in many places in Brighton and others. I think the one that your mother will especially enjoy seeing as she sees the reggae influence in some of his music and tones..would be The Big Push - I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop just amazing. Great reaction btw.

Jenny and Screech are brothers and sisters separated at birth, who found each other in blood!!

A couple things often over looked (hidden subtext):
1. Jenny was a teenage prostitute, that’s why she was in high heeled shoes and had walked the that street 1000 times before…
2. Screech’s girlfriend and his boy Patrick were cheating on him, that’s why there was no answer at Patrick’s place and his girlfriend was “busy”…
3. Violet is pregnant before she met stevie from the line, "she moved out at sixteen, a semi-detached council flat, paid by welfare scheme" means the government is paying children when they get pregnant.
4. lastly, Violet got pregnant by her own dad, so jenny and screech's dad was their own grandpa from the line, "every night he tucked her tight but never left the room. I spare you with the details, I'm sure her mother knew." Probably explains why Stevie is mad at Violet because he realized the twin's wasn't his, explains the lines Stevie said "why you lying to me violet?" so with no regard to the welfare of the kids, he beats Violet to death.
this song is deep, and dark. Unfortunately, it's happening as we speak.

Ren created an entire back story for these characters on Instagram. Ren plays screech another guy plays Patrick and another girl plays Screech's gf. If you didn't know it was Ren you would think these ppl actually existed. And the theory is the reason Patrick wasn't home is because he was with Screech's girl so that's why she was busy.
