  • We had the chance to sit down with Jimmy for an interview during his time on the 2024 Country Music Cruise. Enjoy!
    ==========================================
    American country and gospel singer and guitarist Jimmy Fortune has become one of the mainstays in the music scene, his career dating back to 1981. Fortune found his big break when he was discovered by and began to tour with the Statler Brothers. During this time, He wrote the group’s second No. 1 hit, “Elizabeth,” on their 1983 album Today, and followed that with two more No. 1 hits: “My Only Love” and “Too Much On My Heart”. Fortune also wrote the Top 10 hit “Forever” and co-wrote the top-10 hit “More Than a Name on the Wall”. The group was later inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame and the Country Music Association Hall of Fame.
    Jimmy Fortune started a solo career after The Statler Brothers retired in 2002. As a solo artist, he has released 8 albums, one of which, Hits & Hymns, reached No. 10 on the US Country charts. He continues to write, record, and produce today, and still tours extensively.

    I like hearing the stories you share and others. I love history but I also love to hear people tell their stories about their lives.

    This is a great series of interviews that you have done with Jimmy, one of my very favorite singers, but it's too bad that the sound is so low. I literally have to hold the phone up to my ear to hear them.
