It's called the Ashtray Maze because the Object of Power that created it is an Ashtray!
I was thinking the same thing here... It is actually specifically pointed out in the story and in the menus you also always see ashtrays. It is connected to the previous director. Good that I am not the only one who noticed this. Was already worried here.
This game was a big-time sleeper hit for me. Nowhere on my radar before launch, shortly after launch I learned about it and decided to give it a shot and was extremely pleased. Great game, awesome to see it here.
I'm glad they did Ashtray Maze at the end... it's a great level. Poets of the Fall + Remedy, what a dynamic duo.

Bryonato is easily one of my favorite runners in GDQ. His Titanfall 2 run made me play the game and eventually get all the trophies for it. Great run as usual. Can’t wait to see him come back!
The best part about this game is that you really can’t differentiate between out of bounds and the normal play through.
I love this speed run. Really informative runner.

Anyone that ever told me they didn't think CONTROL was any good I asked what they thought of the Ashtray Maze and always discovered they never actually finished the game. One of the best levels in any game.
Many people just play the main missions and end up missing many cool moments. On my first playthrough I missed the seize power and the entire mold sub-story. Then I realized that the side missions have great depth and even better lore than the main story. The Langston runaways, the mirror mission, the anchor boss that spawns clocks, the fridge mission are amazing and sadly many people will miss them

so glad to see this game run - one of my favourites of 2019, and this run lives up to how great it is. fantastic commentary too, can't imagine so calmly explaining what's going on during those chaotic fight scenes while also playing them.
(although I was hoping for a Porcupine Tree shoutout in the credits, but oh well)
First time I played this game I did the ladder skip because I couldn’t find what they actually wanted you to do in that part. It was so satisfying.
The moment I saw that there was a Control speed run, I knew it was gonna be ran by Bryanato! He's very entertaining to watch and his commentary is energetic and smooth! Please bring this guy agaaaain!

Gotta agree with Bryonato here, Central Research is one of the best levels ever; in video game history, and certainly in the genre.
I'm rewatching this for like the third time, it's still so good, Bryon imo is the most entertaining speedrunner nowadays.

This game softlocked me out of the ashtray maze for some reason (very upset about this because the game is so good), and I ended up using one of the out-of-bounds clips demonstrated to skip past the lock and finish the game. Thanks Bryonato!
Came here after watching the IGN video of the developers watching one of Bryonato's PBs, I'm looking forward to seeing the commentary from the other perspective

this speedrun was awesome! I walked through Ashtray Maze feeling like a boss Matrix/Dr. Strange style. Made that section even more awesome than what it is.
it's hard to describe how helpful GDQ is to my soul! When I feel just so down in the dump and don't want to go to work, I put on an old GDQ run and just get lost listening all day. Fucking love you guys!
holy shit what a run. Wish I had a strong enough PC to run a game like this. The whole Ashtray Maze segment was so sick.
FWIW, it ran fine on my GTX 970 with lower graphics settings but still looking great.

OH MAN! I am so happy to see this run. I love this game so freaking much and the Ashtray Maze features music from my all-time favorite band Poets of the Fall/Old Gods of Asgard (please look them up on TH-cam you won't regret it they're incredibly good). To those of you who have not played this game do yourself a favor and play it!

It's called the ashtray maze because the OOP that generates it is an ashtray. The game was not reticent with that information.
This game got me through furlough and a deep period of depression. PS Now paid for itself that week. Even bought a new DualShock4 to do it justice

This game always looks to me like a pc game running on the switch, badly with an unbearable resolution.
