I have huge respect for these guys and anyone who can fix or build these type of instruments. Such an art in itself! It must be so awesome to make an electronic instrument and then play it. Mind blown!! ;-)
It's actually not that hard (to a certain extent). If you feel tempted by electronics and synths, then why not grabing a small DIY kit and try? You more kits you assemble, the more electronics knowledge you get + it's fun and rewarding.
Man I never thought about components becoming scarce because of modern manufacturing. I also love getting my gear to the edge of distortion and finding the magic btw!

I love Verbos modules. I have them all. No fancy menu diving. Everything is hands-on and highly playable. Just you, the modules, and the patch cables.
