I love when you explain how the whole thing works and then you show us the cost and explain how it went from you paying money to you making profit of your car, keep it up man 😄
Congratulations!! I see that you're wearing a Zenith El Primero chronograph, amazing watch btw, clearly shows that you are also a watch guy. Cars are depreciating assets. Graham: Hold my avocado toast. It just goes to show that if you approach life with a growth mindset, you can find investment opportunities just about anywhere.
The yearly tax wright-off as well as the car’s expected appreciation in value is what makes it free... yes he pays 300,000+ now but he will get it back if he ever sells plus more (appreciation)... as well as if he never sells he will get it back in a few years due to the tax wright-offs each year. Normally with a car once you drive it off the lot you immediately have lost money cause it depreciates.
I’m a huge petrol head, so naturally I loved it!! Great breakdown while it’s still obvious you well.. just wanted the car lol. Also I think the vlog channel will be a great move, the snippet when you won the bid and picked the car up with your pops is ace

Really Happy for you Graham! I had a decent that was getting of size several years back and I seriously was considering a selling a lot of it to get a Ford GT. Never pulled the trigger, the nest egg grew, I bought an Elise AND an S240 and bought a LOT of Tesla a year ago. Best of both worlds! Congrats again, love your channel and hope to see you on a drive some where!
if you are clever and you have money life is easy, if you are clever and you don't have money things can still go in the right direction but it's much much more difficult
He didn’t loose the 300k as the car maintains its value! This is not the case with most cars where you immediately loose value (thus money) the minute you drive off the lot! Thus for him FREE CAR lol!!! Also because of the tax wright-offs he gets to save money every year on taxes!!!
this concept is very interesting and can be applied to more cars today. I believe you can do this with multiple types of vehicles, and have seen friends who own high-end sports cars virtually "for free" because they resell them after a year or two of ownership. If you paid cash, that is an opportunity cost yes. If you finance it- still opportunity cost involved, but if you're willing to eat that monthly payment for the duration of your ownership, and then resell for the same or an even higher price, you just got to own that car for nothing more than the ownership costs, and the opportunity cost of that ownership. Such an interesting way of viewing this.. especially if you're a car enthusiast, could be worth considering. I like how Graham mentioned making friends with his car too, so if your prudent, financially wise and on top of your finances, it could work.
My husband used to buy and sell cars as well. We actually negotiated a Mercedes C300 at a dealership, drove it off the lot. And we moved to the west coast and sold it for more than we bought it for at a dealership because the demand was high for that car on the west coast. It's pretty cool when you can drive a car for free, or make money on it :)
Everyone needs to see "Ford v Ferrari" movie. Matt Damon plays Carol Shelby who trained first American driver to win grueling 24-hour Le Mans race in original Ford GT.
Amazing! I bought an S2000 back in 2015 for $17,500 and it is now worth roughly $25,000 (in Canada). I had it listed for sale about a year ago and had countless offers in between $22-26k. I've put on about 40,000 kms on the car and slightly modified it. All my mods and years of insurance/gas have basically been paid for if I choose to sell the car. Probably won't though because it's just such an amazing vehicle that is now a show room collector.
