Never underestimate what Angelina can do. She never disappoints and always has some surprises. Angelina only takes on the icons and their most iconic songs and then slays them! IMO, this is a masterpiece for several reasons. She dons a mask to open the song due to the subject matter. Freddie wore a lot of make up as he was dying because did not want his audience to be troubled by his sunken face due to his bout with AIDS. She takes off the mask as that twinkling sound appears. During the belts of "the show must go on" she slowly lowers the volume to an ending cry in her voice. When she sings "my make up must be flaking" notice the flutter she puts in the notes. The she ends with that long powerful belt that ends abruptly and fades to black and she doesn't give her customary wave goodbye in honor of the great Freddie Mercury. All of this at 13 years old! BTW yes, please see what she does with the icon Michael Jackson song "Heal The World". Will she disappoint?
You most definitely must react to Angelina singing "Heal The World". It is the polar opposite of what you just heard but, like this one, it will grab you right in the heart and soul!
Beautiful tribute to Freddie with the hand painted mask representing the public face that you present outwardly even during personal tragedy because the show must go on, and then the fade to black at the end representing Freddie leaving us to soon. You can feel and hear the heartache in her voice as she emotes the story and meaning of the lyrics. She really has an amazing ability to become one with the songs and to connect with your soul. Hello Recky, you are right. I too have high expectations for every new (unknown to me) song, because I know that she is capable of incredible things. And the fear that it's not as good as expected is just there. But my experience is that in the worst case, she "only" meets the high expectations. But most of the time she tops it off. She surprises me almost every time. And that's what I love so much about Angelina. Taking the Michael Jackson cover as the next song is definitely a good choice. But you certainly won't go wrong by picking one of her own songs either - Million miles She wrote the song for her grandfather who died. You can hear her pain at the loss very clearly. Shortly after the death of her grandfather, she sang Elvis' song "Always on my mind" and dedicated it to him. She fights back tears but makes it to the endand than... Very emotional. When I heard 'Good and Goodbyes' the 'beat' and flow of the song reminded me of 'Empire State Of Mind' by Alicia Keys and Jay Z. Angelina does play piano and could do the piano intro originally done by Alicia. Then, I envision her 'hooking up' with Jay Z on stage and handling the power laden vocals the song calls for. Jay should reprise it with Angelina, for the worldwide exposure she would gain from being with him would be epic. They should do it outdoors at Times Square in NYC.
Reckyj, her middle name for you will be "beyond my expectations". I've heard this at least 400-500 times and this may sound crazy but it gets better every time she sings it. I know you're starting out with her but very soon you will recognize the fact that there is no one like her, anywhere. If she hasn't touched your heart already she will very soon. Your head might still be a little confused about what is going on but your heart knew from the first second it heard Angelina it knew she "is a keeper'!
