- The 1986 #2 Audi Sport Quattro S1 returns in Forza Horizon 5 from the Series 18 update. And it is fantastic in S1 Dirt but with a catch. Finally giving the Audi Sport Quattro S1 its proper rally performance it deserves compared to FH4's where it wasn't good for rallying at all.

Audi Sport Quattro S1 S1-Dirt Performance Review:
Currently one of the best performing car for S1-Dirt and it handles like it is on rails when it comes to dirt surfaces. All thanks to the car's very high downforce and for once, FH5 gave some tasteful looking aero for this car. And of course, engine swapping will make the car significantly faster.
However the car does have a major weakness, its road performance. While it can corner fast on road surfaces thanks to its high downforce aero, it is extremely twitchy and the rear may slide if you are not careful with your steering. This is mainly caused by the car's short wheelbase which makes it very good for dirt but twitchy for road.
If the track is full on dirt, the S1 Quattro will be at its best performance. If the track has a lot of road sections, you will need to be extra careful of not letting the rear slide.

the audi quattro s1 is one of the greatest sounding cars ever built. when you hear it in old group b rally car videos it makes your arm hair stand on edge, its even crazier in real life

Absolutely. The quattro and the 6R4 have got to be the cream of the crop when it comes to the sounds of Group B.
And then in game it sounds like it's revving to 12K and sounds like shit.

Unfortunately the engine swap can take it to 900-1000+ hp but it's nice to see a rally car finally being good in dirt
But who cares about engine swap? You cant even see the engine so what matters? Far worse is the ugly splitter and wing option....

Technically, the Pikes Peak aero is still rally since it was 100% dirt when it set the record.

The S1 is crazy good. I love that developers recognized its history as a rally legend. By far one of my fav cars of all time
It's nice to see another car having good performance in FH5 despite being bad in previous titles. I'm really enjoying this car on S1 dirt, and could very well be one of my favourites for that!

why? more turning radius without any downside and removes the twitchyness from the car

The new ford hoonigan in A class is also beast. Thing takes corners when you power build it like a champ. Not bad additions this week. Good to get a few finally that are going to be useful.

One of the worst cars for dirt racing in FH4 returns to FH5 as one of the finest dirt racers. What a comeback.
Maybe PG should add a forged inline 5 option as an engine swap, like how NFS Heat and Unbound has it (don’t know if the last few previous games had forged options, never played them). If you don’t know, basically you would have two options: the car’s stock engine and a forged version of it. This means you would be better off let’s say buying & tuning a forged K20 engine instead of modifying a regular K20. Those types of engines (according to what I’ve experienced in NFS) are far more powerful than the original in its baseline and even more so when being tuned up, compared to tuning the stock engine that came straight from factory. Same thing with the S1’s inline 5 engine, have a forged one instead and make use of it. There, purist’s faith in humanity restored.
Or let us pay to unlock an adjustable version of the stock spoiler for cars. I'm tired of the shitty one they had an intern make in Blender on every car

Yes, I play without assist. Just that it very twitchy on road surface.

I think the short wheelbase is ideal for the DLC road courses. They're much tighter and more forgiving of tail-out cornering.

Based on my recent experience, the most impressive part of this video was finding a lobby with more than 3 people.
It's also very good downgraded to A class with the right engine and tyres 🧐

To tell you the truth, playing Forza Horizon 4 I learned to understand and drive this car, so I don’t know how, but I liked this car in the last part of the game, how it was shown

I remember feeling like I was tyhe only purist that despised engine swap, and now there are purist build galore, all of a sudden. :) Say what you want about FH3 being the pinnacle and all, but at least cars are not all AWD with the same engine now.

That second race was intense... s1 was never my strong suit but seeing how fast I got that car while being in unbeatable, if say it's defo a challenge I'll undertake. .
With the Success of this in terms of viability I'm wondering how good McRae's Focus from the new expansion is going to be.
I'm also interested to see how high the PI is of that and what it brings to the table.
If only we still had the Lancia Delta S4 in Horizon.
They failed to hold a deal with the Stellantis carmaker when they wanted to make it part of the new Expansion, so we'll most likely see it in another future update or FH6
The funny thing is that only the Fiat side of Stellantis seems to be encountering issues with licensing. The Chrysler and PSA side seem fine.

There are a bunch of them in the game. Lancia isn’t the only manufacturer who made rally cars you know.
Let's see, we've got Audi Sport quattro with S1 kit, the quattro S1 E2, the RS200 (twice over with the Hoonigan variant), Metro 6R4, Opel Manta, Peugeot 205 T16 with Evo 2 and Pikes Peak kits, you've got the Maxi kit for the Renault 5 Turbo, that's still a pretty healthy amount Group B goodness without the 037 and Delta S4. That being said, I would love to see the obscure Japanese Group B offerings, but there's no way they'll do it if even the dedicated rally games don't anymore.

First race shows just how fast the Bone Shaker is in S1 dirt if you can avoid slow down penalty. That person missed almost every line and bounced off every wall and it hardly mattered.
How does the Quattro compare to the Viper AE or Elise GT1 time wise? I assume the CLK GTR is still faster than it.

Wish Boneshaker got the nerf bat, it's the reason I never touch anything online racing related besides B class racing (B has it's own meta issues but it's mostly fair minus the Trueno users humping the exhaust pipe)

Boneshaker is shear acceleration. S1 E2 is handling. So it depends on the track.

I'm more surprised that you found a rally race with dirt roads. Its bad enough that the dirt roads in FH5 feel like slightly less grippy pavement and not at all like dirt.

It’s so weird in this game you would be driving perfectly and another person would be all over the road and would bang themselves into the wall or bushes/ trees but still come right back next to you or even infront.
