An interesting design point of Stormtrooper armor was the inclusion of the HEAL system, or High Energy Appropriation Ligature system. This was a network of stranded material throughout the armor that ensured that no matter where a Trooper was hit by a laser blast, the energy from the laser would be spread over the entirety of the armor, ensuring the Trooper died quickly. Here you can see the HEAL system failed, leading to the confusion among the trooper's unit.
Why would they include that in the suit? Why did the empire want stormtroopers to remain dead after being shot so badly? Is it so that the empire didn't spend funds from their budget treating injured troops?
