Folks, that's the scenic route! ODOT did well in squeezing the interstate in there and using US 30 as the business route where needed. So much to see: the old US 30 and the classic guard rails and bridges; railroads on both sides, tunnels and the mountains right up to the edge. Windy that day; whitecaps on the Columbia River. Parts of this route date to the mid-and-late 1950's. Much fun to drive.
Nice drive towards the capital of Oregon my friend. The columbia river is beautiful. This brings back the history of The Oregon Trail Ultimately, the Oregon part of the trail ended at Oregon City, Oregon, on the Willamette River south of Portland. Until 1846, however, the trail ended at The Dalles, where emigrants loaded their belongings onto rafts for the trip down the Columbia to the Willamette and from there to Oregon City.
Portland is a beautiful city! The Columbia gorge is spectacular! I have been on I 84 many times and it’s a fun drive!😊

Salem is the capital.
There is no Pasco County, OR. The Dalles is the county seat of Wasco County. :) Beautiful video!
