Thanks for sharing this video of Pat S. and Larry Blyden singing together. I remember Larry best on his Twlight Zone appearances especially :The Other Place” with the future Mr. French Sebastian Cabot. He surprised me that he really can sing. Have a great day!
Pat Suzuki is still living at 94. She is one of the most underrated singers of the 20th century. I highly recommend you searching for her songs on TH-cam and TH-cam Music--you won't regret it. Her rendition of "How High The Moon" is sensational and was used at the beginning of the film "Biloxi Blues". Larry Blyden was a really talented performer who unfortunately passed away tragically at a relatively young age and never really achieved the success he deserved.
From the Broadway musical "Flower Drum Song" which had just opened on Dec 1. I think Rodgers & Hammerstein wanted to get some quick publicity for it because their last two shows had not done well. Can you believe Blyden played a character named "Sammy Fong" ?
@judith_thordarson Are you American? If so, it would be obvious. An interracial couple romantically singing on television to a segregated Southern audience of the 1950s. Whites did not approve.
@@nysaxman Are you saying that people who lived in the South would take offense at a Japanese woman and an Irish man were portraying a Chinese couple? I doubt it. In theatre, many roles were (and still are) played by people who are not the same race or nationality as the character.
Great performance 👏👏

Larry Blyden would later host What's My Line in the early 70's.

I wonder how many television sets were thrown out the window in Mississippi and other Southern states when this aired in 1958. 🤔
I don't understand what you mean.

@@judith_thordarson Study American history in regards to race relations.
