- These TINY Mirrorless Cameras are Awesome!
Following on from the last video, here are a couple of awesome, tiny mirrorless alternatives to the Sony A350.
The Sony Nex 3 and Nex 5 are incredibly capable cameras given both their age and their small size and are far easier to carry daily than a bulky DSLR!

When these builds came out I never gave them a look caring more on the bulky DSLRs I was using. But I did have a Sony a6600 when it came out. Pushing towards my 80’s I’m now inclined for lighter and smaller compacts.
Great shots in this round, all of them, loved the synth beats also.
There were €1-200 Nex and a5100 kits everywhere a few years ago, now nowhere to be seen. I never got into them anyway as the E glass seems way too expensive and large compared to M43 and M.
8:38 saved by the bell! I needed solid 1080 for my travel kit and couldn't solve it with my gen 2 Lumix bodies or the E-M5 II. Nor was I ready to bulk up to E-M1 II or budget up to OM-5 etc. Surprisingly the Canon M200 squeezed in, looks like €400 will do for body, kit lens, splendid 22mm pancake and some batteries and stuff. Haven't tried it out yet though, it's more or less all touch screen so who knows. M50 is plan B.
I have the NEX-6 and the a6000. Love them. And have many lenses, both vintage and new!
Крутые фотки.
Была у меня sony nex f3. Очень хорошие воспоминания об этой камере.
A5100 is the last of these truly small cameras. 24 MP, ok autofocus (same as a6000) and a great flip up screen. Pairs great with a kit lens or 20mm F2.8 for a truly pocketable option. Although these days I take an RX100 VI more often instead.
Nice one David! I learned a lot!
Hey, Aris. I hope you're doing well, mate.
Thanks for watching 🖖
I own the NEX 5T and love the output from that sensor. I also own the A6400 and prefer the output of the 5T. Under rated cameras. I do use mine with an EVF and good enough to frame in bright sun light.
Great Video :) Fabulous Shots!!! … I’ve been looking at these cameras for fun & I’m looking at getting a A6000 soon to mix things up a bit :)
Cheers mate. I had the A6000 for a few years and loved it and I actually quite miss the a6300 that I lost in a river😂
It's always good to try something new and I don't think you can go far wrong with Sony really🖖
excellent video dave, i used to own the nex7 beautiful camera.
Yeah they're ace little cameras. Thanks for watching mate 🖖
@ no problem mate 👍
Cool little cameras, SO tiny, yet capable too! I've got a Nikon 1 in for repair, I guess that was their attempt at the same type of thing, no idea how good it is, and it doesn't matter because it's not my camera.
That's another system I've been curious about for a while. I think the V1 was recommended to me at one point but I never saw one for a decent price. Maybe it's time to have another look.
Thanks for watching, Tim🖖
Bizarrely the one I'm repairing was rescued from a bin, so someone didn't value it very much!
@GrumpyTim Wow, how sad. It always kills me a bit when someone discards a bit of camera, working or otherwise. That's how I ended up with a second Helios 44-2😂
Yeah, there's part of me that wants to rescue all the sad and broken cameras out there, but reality kind of gets in the way of that!!!
@GrumpyTim Indeed. I rarely consider where I'm put all the stuff I buy😂
As I’ve said before, my NEX3 produced lovely images.
I’d love it if you could review a Canon M10 because there seem to be almost no YT reviews out there except some from Japanese & Malaysian bloggers. I’ve been pretty happy with mine but am concerned an out the dead lens mount (lenses aren’t any cheaper as a result!)
@@RealBesty The Eos M system is one I've been curious about since watching Jesse Driftwood a few years back. I'll see if I can grab a bargain 🖖
@ I’d love to upgrade to an M50 but, again, lack of native lenses makes me nervous of investing that kind of money in the system, even though I have an adaptor for EF. I could probably be quite happy with what IS available natively but, again, none of them is exactly cheap (the 22mm, 32mm, 55-200…)
@@RealBesty the kit lens is pretty cheap at about 50 quid for a good one. It's not a bad lens from my experience. I use the 22mm f2 almost daily at the moment. Really nice and compact, actually fits in my jacket pocket which there kit lens never quite did.
I was ogling the A350 with CCD sensor, guess I'll be visiting Ebay... Fun video David, thanks.
Thanks for watching 🖖
The nex 5t and r are actualy prety good compacts
Killer video, my friend. Hope you are doing well.
Thanks a lot mate. You still making the podcast?
@@DavidFlowerOfficial naw, I haven't been in a place to create much of anything recently. Hopefully i will be back to making things soon. Podcast days are over though, new adventures await. o7
@TheAdventuresofSolykos Ah well I wish you only good things in whatever comes next, mate.
Be well, man🖖
I have an a6000 I love but the menus confuse me, I’m a total beginner so I am learning on the slightly easier nex5n which I love, it’s a converted full spectrum (courtesy of hubs lol) and I also steal his pana gx80, trying to decide which is easier to learn on. Like them all. The 6000 is the only one that’s mine tho lol. Wife rules😂
A thing you might find useful on the a6000 which is something I did on mine in order to go into the menus as little as possible is to set up the fn menu with the things you need to change most often. I still do this with my A7R2 and I have things like metering, focus area etc set up in there and that means that for everyday use, I never need to go into the menus.
Thanks for watching 🖖
@ thank you, I’ve two shortcuts set up but I’ll have to look into the fn buttons and find out how to do it. Thank you for your reply.
What lenses do you use?? I still have my a5100
I have quite a few, but the ttartisan 35mm f1.8 AF lens is the one that usually lives on the Nex 5. For wider shots like the astro image I showed, I have the Brightin Star 12mm f2🖖
Beginner cameras are so tricky to use, no external buttons for me to change quick like nikon canon big cameras
And their lenses are expensive compared to old bigger very cheap but premium quality nikon lenses i still love small cameras though not but for anything serious 😂
