Pro tip: keep your paid off starter bike. Theres comes a time when you will prefer to take out your beater bike. Like for commuting to work when you don't wanna take your expensive ass new bike and have it sit in the elements all day. I'd give anything to turn back the clock and keep my Yamaha Bolt rather than trade it.

WE had (until last year, when the owner passed away) a New England enduro racing museum here in MA. I went there a couple years ago. My dad and his friends used to all race. We spent HOURS going through there. All the old pics. Seeing my dad in news clippings and article, all his friends (some who have passed away), man, it was amazing. I remember as a kid, going all over new england, to some REALLY out of the way places, camping in the woods all weekend while my dad raced. The smell of hot engine, baking mud, and rich exhaust, is the smell of my childhood!

On July 5th I finally bought a Harley, ‘98 Electra glide classic very minty and very original with 39k miles on it 👍. It’s got a vetter terraplane hack on it for hauling the dog around too! I’m not big on polishing and shining chrome and I don’t have the best storage but I figured f it! It’s time!! Love it!

In the '70s and '80s I was a customer of haps Honda and I knew old man personally. It was a real shop and an old shop. He started selling Indians after the war. When I was in high school I tried to buy a BMW from him like I bought my Honda but he wouldn't sell it to me because I was still a minor. Still pissed that I missed out on that beautiful bike. I stored my bike upstairs where the museum is when I was in the Air Force for basic training. My first weekend off I flew down to Florida and picked up my bike and rode it back to Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi. I loved the Honda CX500 I bought from them. I had that by 10 years and I put a quarter million miles on it. Bike inadvertently got me in trouble in the Air Force with the senior officers of my command for them doing something stupid about where I parked it which changed my desire to have an Air Force career. The first time I saw the museum up in half and went upstairs and I know where this is. Yeah haps was one of the old time shops that we used to have around here I mean it's still here but it's not the same as it was but nothing is.

That is a great thing you did helping Ethan. As I am late getting to the video as usual for me, you will probably not see it but as this comment contains puns which are intended as are the double on tundras. (They are more for the women around you.)
So if I win a hummer who gives it to me 🤣🤣🤣 about beginner bikes I have been riding off and on since the early 80s twice in my life I went over a 500cc and regretted it both times! I don't know why but I just cannot go bigger than a 500cc and feel comfortable with it, it just is not a fit and I am not a small person.
I think we should know our limits, what we can take and what we cannot, we are not all size queens! It is always tempting when a larger displacement catches your eye to want to take it and feel the power but over time you just know your limits and to walk away from those larger displacements, they are only teasers playing you, they are a temptation that you regret soon after and then you get down on yourself for allowing it to influence you into doing something you knew you should not and then you feel used. I have learned over the years to just take what I am comfortable with and to just say no to those large CC teasers. I like mid size, so I guess what I am saying is I have always ridden what most people would call the beginner bikes! 😉

I've bought all my helmets and riding gear from Haps! They stay well stocked or will custom order stuff from the catalog for ya if they don't have it. These days it's hard to find that home town shop feel so when you do the patronage is important to keep just a little bit of old America alive!

Such an awesome video man, hearing all that history from one family of motorcyclists was incredible! And I haven't had the chance to ride with a group yet, but hoping to change that soon! Ride safe!
