As someone who has had this trailer for 18 months and many trips up to two weeks and 4000 miles (15,000 miles total) a few things; 1. Spare tire is under the trailer in the center. A pulley system is how you get to it (though it should be on the right side over the left) 2. I truly wish the trailer was 18 inches longer before the axle so you could get the bed down with the slide in. 3. Ours does not have quite a few of the improvements but the biggest one is that it's a heavy trailer and mine has a 700 pound LESS GVW so I have less payload of the newer ones. No changes have happened to the frame or axles but they bumped up the GVW. Grand Design said they would up my GVW but never did. My dealership is useless in the service department so I'm not happy about this. 4. The trailer does have the wide axles which makes it pretty stable. But it's not very aerodynamic at all. Worst than most models out there. 5. The air-conditioning is ducted which is rare for a smaller trailer. Quieter than most units. 6. I've give my trailer a 7 out of 10. The dealership sales would be 8 out of 10. Service department maybe a 2 out of 10.
I own a 17MKE and we love it. On mine, there is a spare tire, mounted directly under the middle of the RV, held up by a screw access from under the slide with a 3/4" socket. My three likes - counter space, theater seats, murphy bed (and I could add a lot more - for example, all-season insulation). My three dislikes - if the murphy bed is open, you cannot sit in the theater seat closest to it and put the footrest up, you really need a topper for the murphy bed so we bought a 4" memory foam and it is now wonderful, and lastly, I wish the stabilizers used stainless for the all thread as the ones on it tend to rust and you need to keep them well lubricated. Grand Design does it right!
Great Job Matt & Will .. Definitely a Great Couples Trailer - Likes 1) Size 4700 lbs 2) Four Seasons Trailer 3) Theater Seating & Dislikes 1) Colors Too Dark 2) Bathroom Toilet 3) No Convection Microwave
One option that I have seen many people use is hanging a light weight tapestry to cover that, and it adds a great decorating touch at the same time!! Multiple photos on the FB group for this model.
@@laimezieds that would probably work but it might annoy me I'm not a fru fru frilly person hate valances for the most part. I thought why couldn't they carry that black headboard looking wall thingy up one more time.
Grand Design makes the best use of space of any maker. I could full time in that trailer. The only thing I would change is slam latches on the baggage doors and a 2” receiver on the back for a bike rack. I’m fine with the aluminum steps. A battery operated drill would take care of the stabilizers
As a mom, I like a sink in the actual poopin' area because otherwise kids are touching the door with their germy hands on their way out to the kitchen sink, or forgetting to watch their hands at all!
To give room for toilet and keep sink, on these small travel trailers, put the sink in the shower! It may also save water to fill sink and do sink bath. No worries about spilling water on floor and can still do quick rinse at end. Something I did when young, living on farm with only well water, and when water was low had all sorts of methods to save on water. Sink bath was one.
I love the kitchen, the 2nd seating area, and the theater seats with TV across. It would be nice if the table went in front of the other sofa, too, and if the shower and the toilet area were just a little bigger. I wish the wall went up to cover the mattress and looked better. Very nice unit! P.S. I love a bathroom sink. The kitchen one is for food. Sorry not sorry Matt!
Love the Grand Design brand. Excited to see this floorplan. Would love to see the other floorplans featured too. Dislikes: 1. Can't use the bed in boondock mode. 2. Tight bathroom. 3. Manual Stabilizers. Likes: 1. Fiberglass and aluminum construction. 2. Wet bay area and dump station. 3. Table. 4. Murphy bed is a one piece mattress and is easy to set up and put away. 5. Kitchen counter space.
Hello Matt and Wil! I like this layout. Love the colors, love the furniture. Very nice kitchen. This is a great couple's tt. Awesome review Matt and Wil! 👍👍❤❤
Not sure if 2 dislikes or 1 combo dislike. Hate, hate, hate Murphy beds and prefer separate bedroom. Please 🙏 do a video on Transcend Xplor 245 rl! We are looking at possibly purchasing one and would love to hear your and Will's take on it.
Hey Matt and Will. I love your videos. So happy you decided to review the 17MKE. We have watched a lot of your videos , trying to decide which travel trailer to purchase. We recently purchased the 17 MKE. We love it . Its perfect for a couple . Keep the videos coming.
The 3 things I like about this travel trailer: 1. sofa with a table and is directly across from the TV 2. mostly accessible with the slide-out in 3. the amount of counter space in the kitchen The 3 things I don't like about this travel trailer: 1. the entry steps 2. sink in the bathroom 3. manual stabilizing jacks I like the videos being every other day if it means the videos will be more in depth and you're not rushing through things.
*One million percent agree about NOT having the sink in the bathroom* I don't think *most* RV's and trailers need them! One of my biggest pet peeves lol. In the big huge class A's in the master bathroom, yes, but if you can take fewer than 5 steps to the kitchen sink they aren't needed.
This is a very cute small unit with very elegant looking interior. It's very hard to find dislikes for me too but i can add one extra. That table inside is practical yet small. I can't imagine 2 people eating food sitting comfortable at the same time. If there is a independent foldable table with bigger surface it can be used both inside and outside. Overall it's really perfect unit. Thanks for the great review as always. Be safe.
I do like the slower more detailed reviews. Very well designed camper. Not a Murphy bed fan but I get the appeal. Love the theater seating with the table for a dinette. Love our my waggle we bought it after watching your show. Gives us peace of mind
You need to look at the Grand Design transcend 200 MK. pretty much the same thing only with a fixed bed, 12 volt fridge and a few other goodies. By the way I hear that for 2022 models Grand Design is going to Goodyear Tires across the entire line
Me and my wife have never owned a camper. So for this one is our pick! It will be April 23 before we can get one . We are praying you will get us the best deal!
Like the counter space and how much of the RV is accessible with the slide in and the two couches Dislikes. The steps 2 way fridge instead of a 12 volt compressor fridge. The excessive kitchen counter
Great show Matt. 3 things - love the floorplan, love the bathroom, love the extended kitchen. 3 things we dislike - drawers don't seem to stay closed, needs a convection microwave with a larger opening for frozen pizza, bedroom design - seems like you would hit your head and needs tv hookup. I agree with Matt - redesign the stairs.
@@nicmac3347 I think he ment the Refrigerator, 12V compressor refrigerator vs the propaine/120V AC (possibly 12V DC) Condenser Refrigerator. The 12V fridges use ~ 1/3 of the electricity and have larger interior capacity compared to the traditional refrigerators, also I don't think they require any of the exterior vents. However, they have to be run on electricity and can't be run on propane.
We have this trailer and we both LOVE IT! I would never brush my teeth and spit in the kitchen sink, yuk,so I love the little sink in the bathroom. The Murphy bed is a great plus because the trailer length is that much shorter, and I am very comfortable doing my share of the driving!

The steps like this make it easier to get in and out when the unit is in tight FL storage though. Those solid steps would make us hitch and pull the unit forward for our 24 hours out load items. In camp they would be great, but tight storage is an issue.
I’m not a big fan of the murphy bed but I do like this layout. It would have been nicer if they had electric stabilizers. I agree with Will about the bathroom sink.
I'm really liking this one. My minor gripes: #1 mattress & bedding shows when it is folded up. #2 is the oven is too small. #3 might be a dislike...they're not using Azdel and I'm not sure if the Azdel is marketing hype or a must have. Maybe it depends.
I have a Winnebago micro minnie 2106DS that's really similar to this trailer and we love it. The only feature I don't like on this trailer is the fixed table. I have a free standing table that stows behind the sofa and I have storage above this slide sofa, too.

You’re still in Richmond 💗 I honked at you guys Saturday! It was a windy 🌬 one today! Okay, the Likey: it’s Grand Design and my fav other than Airstream, very nice awning! Magic 🪄 “Makin’ the bed Andrea lol 😂, love the sofa! And the kitchen is nice as well, counter space with red refrigerator at the back. Dislikey: no bueno on the Murphy bed, bathroom is small, I’m a biggish woman. Lastly, no place for my grandkid 😞
What was the difference between this one and the one next to it that you pointed out the spare tire? I noticed it also had the steps I too like. So what was the difference? Model ? I agree Grand Designs Imagine are THE perfect couples trailer. My dream trailer. Thx Matt and Will, I wanted my hubby to see this one. Told him if we stopped in a area we couldn't let the slide out, we could each take a couch. My one other like is the kitchen counter top space. LOVE
You don’t ever mix bad bacteria from the bathroom with, a place where you are, preparing foods. You always need a sink in the bathroom. I love everything about this unit.
I do like this Rv. This Grand Design is great. Don’t have too much to dislike about this. I agree with the steps as my dislikes. Other than that I like the rest. Grand Design did a great job. Thank you Matt and Wil.
Hey Matt and Wil, "laptop, Doritos, laptop, Doritos" that was funny! You guys crack me up everytime!😁 Whatever you decide to do with your videos, it's all good! We get a very indepth tour and 3 things you like and 3 things you don't about every towable, 5th wheel, tt, and rv you review-what's not to like about that? Love you guys! 💕
ok how about loosing the slide so you can still use the bed then you could make the bathroom a little bigger for a passing shower. ok then where the slide was you could put a Nice fold down seating. ok .like it just folds up against the wall. Or even raise them like the Happy lift ones in a toy hauler maybe
I miss seeing you guys everyday! 🤗 BTW, we were looking at the 17MKE, but went for the 22RBE with the huge bathroom! Matt, you’d love it for the PPP! We did get the best price in America “burr bruh ba- durr!” 🎶🎵...at General RV in Orange City/ Jacksonville!!!!! The price was worth the trip from Atlanta! When we told the local dealer about your offer, the sales guy said, “RUN! Don’t walk! Go get that deal!!!” Can you IMAGINE? 😆
Ok again thank you for another great video. Long time watcher, first comment. Most of the time I agree with likes and and dislikes. After all you are the expert!! In this one I would have just suggested eliminating the little storage area in bathroom under the extended counter instead of the whole sink. I love all that counter space in kitchen! And I could see that extended area by the fridge a sort of kitchen garage but you show if there is power in there. If no power there that’s a definite dislike!! We’re getting close to a purchase and being from Washington state we would love to find our favorite by watching these videos and traveling to General to buy directly from you and road trip home in our new RV! Keep up the great work for all of us! Capn Rob
We just purchased this trailer with U shaped dinette. Bathroom is great since we are both pretty lean. Love the bathroom! The quality feel for travel trailer is solid. Thanks for your video. We wonder how loud the air conditioner is. We will see😀
The only thing that would be a disadvantage for us, is the sofa/table combo, our dog sits on the sofa with us (where we would eat). It definitely would be a “like” for our dog. I appreciate all of the counter space for food prep.
I like my 17 mke with the spare tire under the trailer ...more room for bike rack/ bbq on the bumper now. I store the table in with the murphy bed. Has large tanks like in a 8 person sleeper trailer. Now the bad: bed is only 6' 2" and is advertised as as 6' 8"....I am 6' 2" so its going to have me dangling my feet off the end of the bed. Leak in the water pipes that will be going in for service ...its just a loose threaded connection that has to be looked at. Thanks for your review 3 good 3 bad is a great way to size up trailers.
Hi Matt and Wil. I like the more detailed reviews. Really like the Grand Design Imagine XLS. I would really like to see what you think about the 22RBE. A little more space and it looks like there might be a prime pooping position....
Love this review, only I prefer a bathroom sink... dirty hands away from food and dishes. I don't mind a hidden sink compartment that can be tucked away when not in use because I prefer some elbow room in the shower too. I prefer video's that offer more information and go into more detail since I'm hours away from any RV shows and couldn't cover the amount of RV's you guys do.
I don't like how the mattress peeks out on the murphy beds. Manufacturers you should make a hinged "valance" that will tilt up to bring the bed down and cover up the mattress when up. Also - more lift - off grid . off road - cage protection options with more solar and inverter options.
I agree that this is the best small couples trailer I have ever seen. I am not sure about the mattress, mind you. That is our next trailer, for sure. By the way, I can live with the bathroom.
I have questions about the Murphy Bed. Could they have added something to hide the mattress/sheets when in couch mode? Where do we store the pillows during couch mode?
Oh, can't even watch (no offense, just that it's over my husband's truck's tow limit...). We're still leaning to an A or C (or if we find one, a Unicorn B). Thanks for y'all's great efforts on the videos! Helpful, informative and entertaining! Cheers!
Matt, I seriously believe if you get a chance to review the Cougar 22RBS it will become your absolute favorite couples trailer. When I was home last year I toured one in Cocoa. Then I went down to Palm Bay and over to Tampa to that lazy place and nothing compared. That being said, Grand Design did become my favorite travel trailer manufacturer after looking at Imagines and Momentum 5th wheels. Dislikes: #1 I don't like that there is no outside kitchenette. It seemed like a lot of wasted space toward the end of the kitchen counter. That last 3 feet could have been an outside kitchen. #2 It seemed the mattress was really thin and would be uncomfortable. #3 The bathroom vanity should be scaled down or completely removed. Likes: #1 Overall kitchen design. Plenty of prep area. #2 Theater seat/sofa with dinette table. Though I would prefer a free standing table you could take in and outside. #3 That wet bay is an absolute winner.
One thing I question about this trailer is the hookups in the pass thru storage. Would you need to leave that door up while parked and using them? Aren't these hookups usually on the exterior of the trailer? My wife and I are considering a trailer that could be towed with a Ridgeline (if I can ever find a new one to buy).
I actually just looked to see where you are, as I feel you'd give me the best price. Unfortunately, you're way too far away from us in southwest Colorado. Dreading the dealer negotiations. Great videos!
Likes: 1. Tons of storage for a trailer this size to include room for a full sized coffee pot in the kitchen area. 2. The TV across from the main sitting area is great. 3. It was nice of them to put a large pet bed in front of the murphy bed. The pets will take over the front sofa. Dislikes: 1. I agree that the stairs could have been a better type especially for the price of the RV. 2. The slide out is a mess. If it fails, you do not have a bed. 3. I felt that the grey and black tank dump station should have had a protective shroud around it. It's behind the rear axel and is in a great spot to get damaged by a rock or other road debris. Even with the dislikes I feel that this is a good RV option for a single person or for a couple.
That awning is great!!! LOVE that they included two couches and no dinette. Love the Murphy bed too! And that storage all around the bed, including the drawers under the bed! AWESOME! 🌠🌈 Wish they would have had a pantry for the kitchen. The bathroom is a bit small but plenty of storage! Like they had a wet bay and great place to dump your tanks too! Really cool unit! Thanks for reviewing it! Just my two cents, but really like the new format. Like more in depth. Fantastic job Wil and Matt! You guys rock!
I have to say the table is a dislike. When it was in place it was great, but what do you do with it when you take it off? cover the other sofa? so much for company. Similar to that, you reviewed another small trailer that had small tables on either side of the sofa in front of the Murphy bed -- those were great so that's a 'missing like' :)
Some may complain about this, but I was going to say that I really don't care for these extended reviews, especially so much on the outside (on bigger units). I already watch your RV reviews and Towables on 1.25, because I really just want to see what the inside looks like. This one didn't take long to get to the inside though. I really like this unit. If I was in the market for a small travel trailer, this would be it. I love that it has a Murphy bed & that the cabinetry matches from the bedroom area and the kitchen. There really is a good amount of bedroom area storage, especially with the 2 drawers under the bed. ** One thing you missed is the reading lights above the bed. Before Matt closed the bed, I'm pretty sure I saw 2 lights hanging down. Nice review 👍 * I very much like the amount of space with the bed up.
I'm impressed with this unit! Great floor plan Tons of counter space Large sink Lots of storage--deep drawers included! Great TV placement Window in the corner of kitchen Dislikes: teensy microwave; the bed isn't useable with the slide in; the end of the bed showing while it's up looks tacky
As someone who has had this trailer for 18 months and many trips up to two weeks and 4000 miles (15,000 miles total) a few things;

Love that you couldn't really find 3 dislikes. I'm sold and will be giving you a call.
If you go back and forth with laptop and Doritos, you might want to use different hands or a paper towel. LOL Matt!
I couldn’t agree more. These guys make me laugh and are very entertaining!
Very nice for a small trailer. I could see having something like this to get started rving.
Great trailer. Still hoping you'll do a review of the GD 22MLE.
👏🏽 great personality, made me smile
WOW, that travel trailer has 280 HP and a tongue weight of 3500LBS, Dang. "Pets are better than some family", haha, that is VERY true.
Tongue weight 480 lbs.
@@cindydegraaff5083 Thanks Cindy, that makes much more sense.
Where are the 115 vac power outlets in the kitchen counter area?
ok how about loosing the slide so you can still use the bed then you could make the bathroom a little bigger for a passing shower. ok then where the slide was you could put a Nice fold down seating. ok .like it just folds up against the wall. Or even raise them like the Happy lift ones in a toy hauler maybe
01:45 Specs indicate is has a Dodge V6, that is a BIG generator engine for a small trailer
That's a very well designed small travel trailer. Great use of it's limited space
Doritos...laptop....Doritos....laptop. Lol. Can’t argue with that! 😀
Kitchen and layout is killer! Wish it had an option for an outdoor kitchen
Hey Matt, what is the perfect travel trailer for a family with 2 kids, and light weight that a mini van can tow?
I like my 17 mke with the spare tire under the trailer ...more room for bike rack/ bbq on the bumper now. I store the table in with the murphy bed. Has large tanks like in a 8 person sleeper trailer. Now the bad: bed is only 6' 2" and is advertised as as 6' 8"....I am 6' 2" so its going to have me dangling my feet off the end of the bed. Leak in the water pipes that will be going in for service ...its just a loose threaded connection that has to be looked at. Thanks for your review 3 good 3 bad is a great way to size up trailers.
I would like a compressor fridge option we are seeing in other small trailers.
I love the imagine . I agree to have one sink and a pump of hand sanitizer in the bathroom. Then wash in the sink.
I have a 21 ft Imagine & there is no counter space. I loved that counter space & the recliners.
For the size they did a great job
Needs more room for storage but that would make it bigger
Total perfection 🥰
Great job love this unit!
It's wired for solar.
A front windshield would really add some pop to this unit.
My #3 is the twisty things on the baggage doors instead of slam latches.
But I basically like everything about that trailer.
This is my top 10 floor plans. Does not sleep enough if I want to take great nieces, up to 4 at once, but would be something to consider.
Agree. Want it! 0 dislikes except need $ to buy it.
Wish it had slam latches on pass-through
NICE REVIEW!!! The inside is actually literally perfect!!! But the lack out outdoor camping amenities is a deal breaker...
Hi Matt and Will. Could you let us know what type of vehicle would be best to be able to tow this trailer. Thanks.
1/2 ton would be good enough
We tow our 17MKE with a 2021 Colorado diesel. Tow rating 7700 lbs. Works great.
Did you look underneath the trailer for the spare? Hmm. Time to get to know the RV before the show.
Oh, can't even watch (no offense, just that it's over my husband's truck's tow limit...). We're still leaning to an A or C (or if we find one, a Unicorn B). Thanks for y'all's great efforts on the videos! Helpful, informative and entertaining! Cheers!
This one is indeed perfect.
Dislikes:
#1 I don't like that there is no outside kitchenette. It seemed like a lot of wasted space toward the end of the kitchen counter. That last 3 feet could have been an outside kitchen.
#2 It seemed the mattress was really thin and would be uncomfortable.
#3 The bathroom vanity should be scaled down or completely removed.
Likes:
#1 Overall kitchen design.
Love the trailer
I actually just looked to see where you are, as I feel you'd give me the best price. Unfortunately, you're way too far away from us in southwest Colorado. Dreading the dealer negotiations. Great videos!
The onscreen spec sheet says its a 3.5 liter 280 horsepower V6.... did i missed something?
A fold down sink in the bathroom may have solved the space problem.
Super large holding tanks on the Imagine rigs!
Is it prepared for Solar panel setup?
That awning is great!!! LOVE that they included two couches and no dinette. Love the Murphy bed too! And that storage all around the bed, including the drawers under the bed! AWESOME! 🌠🌈 Wish they would have had a pantry for the kitchen. The bathroom is a bit small but plenty of storage! Like they had a wet bay and great place to dump your tanks too! Really cool unit! Thanks for reviewing it!
Just my two cents, but really like the new format. Like more in depth. Fantastic job Wil and Matt! You guys rock!
You guys rock, very interesting channel.
I love your videos!
Nice review 👍
* I very much like the amount of space with the bed up.
Theatre seating, yay!
I'm impressed with this unit!
Great floor plan
Tons of counter space
Large sink
Lots of storage--deep drawers included!
Great TV placement
Window in the corner of kitchen
Dislikes: teensy microwave; the bed isn't useable with the slide in; the end of the bed showing while it's up looks tacky
