The amazing thing about the show is when chef Paul says a plant tastes like green beans, I have to go out there and forage for myself to know how much it tastes like that. Loving everything about the show. Dont forget to do season 3 in New England. East Coast Les Please!!!!!! You could start in Quebec, New Brunswick, or Nova Scotia, and make your way down the east coast US until you run out of episodes in the season. Would be insanely popular.

Les, you were a huge influence on my teen years. Watching Surviorman ignited my passion for the outdoors and started my path towards self reliance and the art of perparing for survival situation. You did what no man had done and shed light on the importance of survival on a MASSIVE scale. Watching you throw yourself into dangerous situations taught me to appreciate how harsh mother nature can be but keeping your cool and taking time to appreciate the beauty of mother nature spoke to me. I'm really glad to see you educating publicly again. I look forward to learning more from you throughout the years.

This show in particular is inspiring to me because of your location. I live in an area that is VERY similar to this - A semi-arid high country. I love sagebrush. The best part about excursions into our surrounding county side is coming home and even my boots have the perfume of sage on them. I have brewed beer seasoned with sage. Which, was very good, by the way. I am awakening every year more and more to the bounty we have in what seems a dry barren environment. Thank you for this series.

I will have to give it a try now that I know what to do. My Dad was a restaurateur for 24 years, taught me how to cook and now that I've been on Keto for 5 years, learned a whole new way of cooking. Thanks so much for providing inspiration for me! I look forward to the adventure. 😁

Awesome video Les, and it's fantastic to see you using food I grew up with in a region I grew up in! It's always funny, as an indigenous wildlife bio, I love seeing videos in my region. It becomes a game of trying to find your exact spot for most of the shots. Funnily enough, I can pinpoint most of these shots as I've worked on bighorn sheep in majority of them. I've also picked all through here with my grandmother as a kid. We have different ways of cooking Balsamroot, and we pick it at a different time of year (a few weeks earlier), but it's awesome to see what you two were able to accomplish.
Next time you're in the area I would love to show you some of our more regionally specific traditional foods!

Les, Love all your Survivorman shows, have seasons one-3 on DVD, from long ago; and they were the best in season one, and like all franchises "got worse" as the "production values", from network egg heads who interfered in the shows, "got better". Happened to all my favorite shows starting with Star Trek!
So, speaking of wild harvests, I only eat black berries, I know them well, having spent time in college in NW CA, in 70's, where they are a "weed", being so abundant everywhere. Ate a blue grouse once there too, a friend shot, it was the best "chicken" I have had, roasted and so juicy. But I took a lot of botany in college for my wildlife biology and environmental studies degrees, and you are right in season one episode one as you ate that alleged shaggy mane mushroom, about identifying all wild gathered mushrooms, in general; "If you're wrong,...you're dead!!", as you so wisely said then! LOL ;D
Nice to see all your good stuff on YT, can watch on my big screens now!! :D
