I have followed Colin McBean since the Advent days and have always loved his work. Of course, I own practically all of his output on wax. So it goes without saying that your mix rocks! Thank you!!
My favourite thing about having put this mix together is the amount of fans of Colin and his work that have come through. I've been adding more to more collection since putting this together so might have to do another one in the new year. Thanks for taking the time out to comment, really pleased you enjoyed the mix. 🙏
Sorry, Dom I only just noticed this. No probs at all, here's the deets: Artist - Mr G (obvs) Title - Toi Toi Release - J's Credit EP Label - Bass Culture
I have just started to learn how to dj and Mr.G is definitely one of the artists that inspired to get into music. Playing a full mix of Mr.G's tracks is what I aspire to do as well! congrats to you, mate. I love this entirely.
That's very cool mate, it's a very fun and somewhat addictive creative pastime. Hope it's going well so far and you're enjoying the process. Mr G's sound is perfectly stripped back, where all the elements are adding to the groove and vibe. There's no fluff in there and so, for me at least, it's a great sound to aspire towards playing and making. Especially if you have aspirations of playing in clubs and on high quality systems. He creates body music that is designed specifically for that environment.
Thanks man, I've already 2 more Mr G releases to the collection since I recorded this! 😅 It's hard to walk away from them when if I see one when I'm on a dig. Going to see him play on the 28th July at The Jazz Cafe here in London. V excited.
OH YES DUDE! I also share big respect for Mr.G works, they mix so well with some early Hybrid and also Frankie Bones Ghetto Technic stuff, always a floor filler at a good party. love this mix, thanks for posting!
Completely agree, played at the right time of the night, almost any Mr G track can get the party started or at least pushed up another gear. Thanks for taking the time to share mate, it's always hugely appreciated.
That's a sick entry point into collecting!! Plus it all ages beautifully and can still get the party going. Mr G is one of my all time favourite artists. I also have quite a few Vinalog bits in the collection.
I couldn't agree more. I've seen him live once before and loved every second. I'll actually be seeing him at the end of the month. He's playing a vinyl only set at The Jazz Cafe in Dalston, London. I'm so pumped for it. The last track is from the album he dropped in 2021. Well worth checking out if you can, the deets are: Artist: Mr G Title: Still Life Talkin V2 Release: The Forced Force is Not True Force Label: Childhood
Thanks so much, really glad you enjoyed it. Yeah this one is a more obscure release he did with Vinalog for Record Store Day in 2015. The details are: Artist: Mr G Title: Love Beatz Pt. 2 Release: RSD2015 Label: Relative / Phoenix G
Thank you. I love it! They've recently dropped down in price, so worth taking a look. It's the Omnitronic TRM-202mk3 with some added wooden side panels from Omniwoodkit.com
Thanks mate. Yeah same, they're just so hypnotic. No problems on sharing the details. Here they are: Artist: Mr G Title: Yo... Release: Resonate EP Label: Just Jack Recordings
Thanks Nick, glad you enjoyed not mate. The track is called Yes I do. It came out on a shared release with Vinalog for Record Store Day in 2016. It's a nice double disc release with 2 tracks from Mr G and 3 from Vinalog. The other Mr G track from that release is played at around 48:53. The Vinalog tracks on the release are really nice too. Defo worth checking out.
Absolute heater rights? I love it. Here's the details incase you wanna check it out: Artist: Mr G Title: Tony's Taxi (Linda LOL) Release: J's Credit EP Label: Bass Culture Records
😊🙏 Thanks man, appreciate you taking the time to let me know. The track at 17 minutes was actually my first Mr G vinyl which I picked up back in 2013 and it's the one that got me put on to his amazing music. Still my favourite release to date, all 4 tracks on the EP are amazing. Here's all the details: Artist: Mr G Title: Getting There......Detriot Release: VFM EP Label: Phoenix G
Hey Greg. It's an Omnitronic TRM-202 mk3. Not too expensive for a rotary mixer. In fact I think it's just dropped even further in price recently. Then I've added some wooden panels to the side from Omni Wood Kit instagram.com/omniwoodkit/?hl=en-gb. Hope that's helpful mate.
He absolutely is! 🙌 I always find these discussion around genre interesting and how the definitions can be influenced and evolved by new music and trends within the scene. I'm defo not an expert on sub-genres of any style of music, for me it's just a convenient way of cataloging stuff so it's easier to find. However to give my perspective, if I compare the Mr G sound to some of the originators of the tech-house sound, people like Evil Eddie Richards for instance, I think there are very strong similarities. Where as the original house sound, people like Steve Hurley, Frankie Knuckles or those who arguably continue to represent that sound now, people like Kerri Chandler for instance, I don't hear many similarities at all. I think in more recent years labels like Drumcode or artists such as Michael Bibi have influenced what is considered 'tech-house'. I also think platforms such as Beatport with their notoriously bad labelling of genres have changed what many consider to be 'tech-house'. If we use the original sound and scene as guidelines, then I personally believe that Mr G represents that original tech-house sound far more than he does the original house sound. All of that said, ultimately all that really matters for me is the vibe and groove of any track I play, genre is rarely considered. Always interesting to discuss though. 😊🙏
Every tune is 👌
Mr G is the Don!! Hard to pick a bad track from his back catalogue.

Nice one .. thanks
Large fancy room filled with crap 😂👊😂Music is Per itty ritty doo+-(G) - Mr........
😂 🙏
Mr. G is the business but I would not classify his music as “tech house”. It’s just house.
He absolutely is! 🙌 I always find these discussion around genre interesting and how the definitions can be influenced and evolved by new music and trends within the scene.
