  • In this episode I travel to Raja Ampat, Indonesia (Wayag) a cluster of karst islands in the remote far-flung eastern reaches of Papua, Indonesia. Only reachable by charter boat, it is one of the most paradisical locations I have visited. There is a reason why this view is on all the Raja Ampat travel brochures. Find a way to get here, you will not be disappointed!
Thank you for watching and subscribe to join me on my adventures!

Can I ask, is USD800 a travel pack? or only for visiting this island?

Amazing! Do you think the place is worth the 4 hours trip since Piaynemo is much closer and more reachable?

Yes it's worth the trip in my opinion! The views are better (good in Piaynemo also) but the experience is different, there is no one there and it feels like you've reached the end of the world, plus the circle of sharks is something I haven't seen anywhere else. Piaynemo is has a wooden boardwalk to all the viewpoints and can get kind of busy with tour groups, but once they leave you have the place mostly to yourself. If you've come all the way to Raja Ampat, you might as well go to Wayag 😉

@@travelwithtrexpat thanks for your insight! I just came back from Raja Ampat and was blown away by Piaynemo. Unfortunately Wajag is so remote that my accommodation did not even offer any trip there 😅 but this will be another reason to go back to Raja Ampat 🙂

I am planning a trip in February. Are there any resort or homestays you recommend. I am really confused as there are many islands and resorts and difficult to choose which island to stay in.

I just showed up with no bookings for anything except the flights and it was much better because I could check out places and negotiate and spend time in the islands I wanted to spend more time in. I'm also on a budget. If you have the money, you could just book a resort. The best if you're independent traveller with small little huts for accommodation is Kri, Yenbuba, or Arborek islands. The nicer resorts are on some of the other islands.
