A Wednesday video and Lee. . . Mike, you spoil us. It's so great to see him back at the farm. He comes with so many benefits. He knows what he is doing and he is comfortable on camera. That is win win. That's not even mentioning the chemistry you two have together.
Im impressed. This time Mike actually let someone else hold the camera and HE did the turning of the screws. That may be a first. I can not believe the fert corrosion on those air cart parts. Likely worth your while to wash the equipment thoroughly at the end of the season to avoid as much of that corrosion as you can.
a vry good advice at home after the spring sowing we clean, wash and grease the material and then we store it in a shed sheltered from the weather and the sun,we do not need to change the pipes in spring
A length of telephone cable got all different color wires can wrap them around each fitting before you take the hoses off makes putting back together easy learned this from a mechanic in the coal mine for hydraulic hose on big machinery same color wires on both ends of the hoses
You can ONLY DREAM for the day that you have a large heated shed to work on the larger equipment during the winter time. Hopefully a couple years of better yielding crops will allow items on the wish list to be bumped up and possibly become reality.
Mike, wash your auger and all the box inside and out after use and spray it all with old hytrans oil , when trade our boxes they still look like new , shouldn’t look rusty like that, just a handy tip from down under 🌾👍
As the plastic auger wears it allows more product between the auger and wall and it acts like sand paper with larger and larger pieces and causes the wear to increase.
Pretty rare to do that in ag and industry, very low speed chains compared to the likes of a motorbike, unless there's serious visual damage then we run the same sprockets,
For the chains get a dirtbike chainlube like PJ-1 Black (best lube and anti-rust but tacky) or Maxima Chain Wax (depending on how your local dirt and chafff seems to build up. For all the other rusty bits: Anti-seize is for extreme temperatures that would bake out oils, it isn't a good anti-rust at low temps. What you want is Fluid-film(more preserving less lube, amber-clear gel. Spray or gallon bucket/drum style), or an "open gear and wire-rope" lube (more lube slightly less preserving, also usually a messy moly-black). "CorrosionX HD" is an alternate brand to Fluid-Film. Spray on micro-crystalline wax products can also be good anti-rust, they have a thin coating and dry-touch but the coating doesn't self heal after aplication or make a seal like greasy products.(Weatherpruf and LPS#3 are two brand names) Cor-ban 23 or 35 is another dry to the touch product that I use on most of my non-chrome tools. 23 just makes a thinner layer than 35, otherwise they do the same, in pink or clear. (primary market is protecting the inside of aircraft from condensation)
For anything that’s seized up Mike I use a spray called toolbox buddy it’s from America and it found it’s way to the UK it’s fantastic and the best stuff I have ever used 👍👍 great video as always 👏👏👍👍
Mike you need new stickers for under the cart, just went on about red seed and black fertilizer hoses and you cut to Lee taking off the panel next to some black seed and red fertilizer stickers lol
Good thing farmers have lots of money to change parts that only need grease or WD40. Why run agg tires on carts and drills? Looks like a road type tire would be better, more floation and road use.
You are lucky that it was only straw that you directed at Lee's face because had it been a mouse nest the prank could have turned back on Mike and haunted him for a while. 😂🐀🐁🤣
Yep, the instant I saw it, I knew it was a series 15 that had the draped over frame hoses and I said to myself, "Self, those over frame hoses make the thing junk, and if it were me, I would trade it for the Model 16 before sunset." Frankly, I don't understand how anyone can farm with that miserable equipment. Also, the inside of the tractor cab has a footprint in it, (perish the thought) so the tractor must also be traded off NOW !!! Mike... Mike??? I'm sorry, I could not help myself... LOL
Man Mike the one piece of equipment that gets the most corrosion you didn't even wash it before putting it away, Iam messing with ya, I know your a busy guy
He said that he never ran that drill before. He bought it 2 years ago for the north farm as you can see it has a 950 cart. He needed the shop on the south farm to perform the maintenance as I suspect after seeding it will go back north and his south farm “bigger drill” will come back down south to the home farm.
When are you going to build cover for maybe thirty million dollars worth of machinery , and a good shops so you can work on the machines even if you’re up to your n--s in snow ???
Mike, I have a question 😅. So I know the cost is less to repair all the pipes and stuff that break because of the weather but in the long run would it be better and cheaper to store it in a shed ? The weather destroys everything
@jimpinger6206 they have at least 5 of them, though not counting their tractors, combines, and numerous other implements. I'd have to be the size of a rather large warehouse to even accommodate just the seeders and carts themselves.
Guess it all down to cost you would need a couple of aircraft hangers 🤣 never realised what a problem the intense sun is on equipment. Not so much of a problem in the uk as we don’t see it that often🤣🤣.
@johnwarwick4105 I've only been in one building that would be sufficient in holding all of their equipment and even with open sides I'd be a few million just for the building. Not even mentioning concrete.
Give Lee the salary he needs n keep him onboard 👍
He’d probably would stay if Mike wasn’t such a bully
@@lathamindustries6316 I think you’re referring to the jokes they make, if you can’t handle a little banter don’t watch

Great to see Lee again.😃 It always fun when he's around. 🙃

It’s fertilizer…..aka salt. Nothing lasts and everything rusts
Been waiting all winter to hear your honest thoughts on the JD HD headers, looking forward to it!
Yay Lee is back, Hope he stays as you two are great together.
The amount of time and money spent on maintenance is mind boggling.
This is basically what farming boils down to. Keep the machines going, so you can keep farming.
Cheaper to spend the thousands on parts in the off season than have a break down mid season. Time is money and money is time
a vry good advice at home after the spring sowing we clean, wash and grease the material and then we store it in a shed sheltered from the weather and the sun,we do not need to change the pipes in spring

Fun stuff now the snow melt is happening 👌
It seams to me that you have a wonderful crew helping you at the farm. Good luck with the growing season in 2023 👍
Mike we wash hours out and then we spray the inside with diesel fuel and that keeps it like brand new
I don’t use anti sieze on them meter auger cover bolts but I do oil them relly good I’m going to try anti sieze this year thanks for the tip mike
Grease works better sometimes
Stuckcontest wil be interesting this year😅
Remember, it doesn't count as a stuck if you get out by yourself. It's counted as a momentary delay.
my favorite TH-cam channel .. god blessing
I bet it feels good to have Lee back for seeding to take some of the stress off!!
You can ONLY DREAM for the day that you have a large heated shed to work on the larger equipment during the winter time.
Hopefully a couple years of better yielding crops will allow items on the wish list to be bumped up and possibly become reality.
Lee is back 😃 this seeding season is going to be great with all that water 😁
It's always good to see Lee!

He just bought this drill used 2 years ago… all his drills are in very good shape.
Mike, I know building storage sheds for the equipment is too expensive. What about covering them up with tarps?
I am watching while seeding. About 15 miles north east of Shelby, MT. Hope you are seeding now.
How far to the Welker farm?
Great video Mike
Good luck getting your air seeders ready for 2023 Mike
I think Mike needs 10 Lee’s to get all the gear up to spec, Mike does have a high standard.
Trideau Hose; blows a lot of air but can't take pressure.
Hey Mike Intelligent AG is actually a great system , it works with a Tablet device
Lee can read what you want done after working with you. Nice to have experience around.
Glad lee is back
As the plastic auger wears it allows more product between the auger and wall and it acts like sand paper with larger and larger pieces and causes the wear to increase.
The intelligent ag system is Awsome. Fully customizable to the operator. Been using it for 3 seasons now and would not go to anything else.
Check into some petrowrap stuff works great on hydraulic hoses to keep from rusting👍
Too much rain can be a bad thing when you can't plant or lose seed to rot.
Saw Lee in a Claas truck at Tim Hortons in Swift Current awhile ago
Lee is a fav imo
What does a good farm hand make in Canada? Do they get overtime?
The equipment is huge. Where do you store all this equipment when you are done with it.
In the field next to his brother’s airplane runway.
Thank you
Main problem with the tires are they're Goodyear junk.
In weyburn we got 72cm of snow! This last storm
Lee never agree to what you don't know, it can back fire. Don`t ask how I know 🤣🤣🤣
Great to see lee again i think you need to keep him at the farm somehow enjoyed the video mike thanks
Lee's having Mikey with drawls. Poor Lee.😂
New chains on old sprockets is not a good idea. Chains will wear very quickly. Worth the cost to replace the sprockets too.
Pretty rare to do that in ag and industry, very low speed chains compared to the likes of a motorbike, unless there's serious visual damage then we run the same sprockets,
Great to see a Wednesday video.

Mike I would also got a new job if my Bos said here hold this punch while I go get a hammer. 😳 🏃🏃🏃😂
Hi Michael, By the looks of things with your cart, would it not be such a bad idea, just to buy another one !!!
Made my day. Thanks.
Good Grief! It will have to be an extremely late season, or...?!
Seeing Len's "Smiling Face" was a nice welcome 🤗

@@crandonborth My BAD, Brain Fart 🤣😂
@@gavinperry7237 Lol it’s still early I’ll give you that. 😁
10,000 each wheel of the grain cart? Oh my...
Mike Lee missed his chance to aggravate you by not shutting the door on you while you was in the fertilizer tank!!! 😂 Lol
Magnifique matériel de semoirs et la révision et les tracteur 🚜 😊😂

Lee looks like that Irish Pilot from The Rundown
I really liked the" red black wait "part
With the price of hose it would pay to build a shed to store your drills in long term
Intelligent ag blockage works great. Highly recommend
Hey Mike maybe let Lee do the camera work and commentary. We may even learn the right way to do things. 🤣
thats why it say's " GOODWHEEL" equals "HIGHPRICE" ;-)
UPS... "GOODYEAR" hope U all farmers will have
1:55 There might be a few low tires on my airseeder, but don't let that fool you of how happy I am! 🤣😉
The black/red switch would bother me. Id have to vhange it. 😊
Isn't it steel augers for fertilizers and plastic for seed product?
Yes… but he uses both. The big tank is for fertilizer when seeding cereals but then fills the big tanks with seed when seeding pulses.
Mike are you in this world with parts being 2 years back ordered not a bit late with making a shopping list haha
You need some rust check for that auger. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed. We spray our tanks down before storage.
Great to see lee
I think you need a new drill completely but seedhawk
Mike you need new stickers for under the cart, just went on about red seed and black fertilizer hoses and you cut to Lee taking off the panel next to some black seed and red fertilizer stickers lol

Mike question are you going to tryout the versitile deltatrack
Mike have you thought about hiring someone on the SAWP ?
Is that the triple jd from North farm? Mike.give us an update on what kit of yours is staying at which location?
It is. The 9620R will be seeding in the south; the 1167 in the north.
Que envidia ver tanta humedad, en España casi se ha perdido todo por la sequía
Good surprise to have a mid week video again sir!
A Wednesday video?? Wasn't expecting this. Its nice tho.
you need to carry a tin of wd40 for all those rusty componeants
I wonder if he regrets the white truck choice🤔
1 1/2 seasons from Agtron, is that right?
Nice……. Getting a Wednesday vid. 👍
You are lucky that it was only straw that you directed at Lee's face because had it been a mouse nest the prank could have turned back on Mike and haunted him for a while.
😂🐀🐁🤣
how many acres do you have to plant Mike? must be thousands w/the big machines
10s of them
Around 40,000 Acres giver or take.

That shop would be a football stadium or can be seen from space
Does Lee watch coronation street?
🔥👊🔥🏍🔨⚙️🚜
its a big tool , but not good Quality when i see rust 😵💫
I don't think your equipment is big enough.
wil you ever buy a Deutz Fahr tractor???
Mike, I have a question 😅. So I know the cost is less to repair all the pipes and stuff that break because of the weather but in the long run would it be better and cheaper to store it in a shed ? The weather destroys everything
They don't even make sheds that big. 😂
@_Ole_CornPop_ Yes, they do. Tony Fast in Montana just built a shed to store his 100ft seeder with room to spare.
@jimpinger6206 they have at least 5 of them, though not counting their tractors, combines, and numerous other implements. I'd have to be the size of a rather large warehouse to even accommodate just the seeders and carts themselves.
