comparing silicone and foam measurements, they are always different, especially in the treble, which my ears always can tell a huge difference in actual listening. Even changing silicone tips affect the stock sound a lot for me, but the more (carefully tuned) premium IEM you get, the more the stock silicone tips are important to get the intended sound signature.

    Good morning ☕️🥓🔥from Toronto.
Thank you Ian for the behind the scenes look of how you set up and take measurements for your iem reviews 👍
    Thanks ☕️🥓🔥

This is very informative, Ian. Thank you so much for this. I believe we bought our IEC711 from the same seller. We are just waiting for the calibration file that they are supposed to send.
By any chance, could you share the one they sent you? Or it is supposed to be unique per sound card? Thanks!

Hey there, I just got into measuring my IEMs and have to say: your video is very helpful! Thank you so much for this step by step tutorial.
I have a few questions tho... First would be, where can I get the calibration files for my soundcard and coupler? I did not get them from the seller. But I did reach out and asked if they could provide them. I think I have the same rig as yours.
Secound question would be, where can I get the Harman and so on target files? I checked on squiglink but found no way to download them...
Thanks again for the great video :)

If I wanted to record music (stereo) with this to do demo's, what would the procedure be? Would the EARS be a better option if I wanted to do both?

Hello, do u think that there will be a noticeable difference with the recorded frequency response if u were to use a different eartip?

    • @soulxavier
      @soulxavier 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Definitely, the shape and size of eartips and also the material changes the perceived sound

Would i need the soundcard since i already have an audio interface, Behringer umc202HD? Will this method work with smaart v9 for live trasnfer data? Have your used rephase and made linear phase convolution file?

Just wondering how the sound quality would be if we record music from the coupler instead of pink noise? I think it won't sound good.
The drop from 10khz onwards is that the mic limitation?

Hi Ian! I am stuck. The thumb drive that was sent along with the coupler does not seem to have the calibration file on it. And I am not sure where to download one. If you have a moment, and could shoot me a link, I would really appreciate it. The IEC711 coupler and sound card seem to be the same as the one in your video.

On the AliExpress page and in the description, they say to contact the customer service with the coupler’s serial number and your email to receive the calibration file as every coupler is unique. However, I am not sure where the customer service contact is? I will try to find out

@@dbean5174 Thank you so much, but that is exactly what I did (on Amazon). They were super helpful and sent me the cal file. I’m in business now! Having a lot of fun with it and posting screencaps on my channel. It’s fun now that I’ve figured it out. So thank you for the help and of course Ian, for the vid!

Ian, nice video! I’m interested in analyzing raw measurements of the same iem at different dB SPL levels (e.g., 60, 70, 75, etc.). Could you do that kind of work? If so, how to sponsor the work? Thanks a lot!

    • @ianfann

Sure I can and I have already tried, the frequency graph will look the same.

  • @Plucks_IEM_Wonderland

Thanks so much for the tutorial! When measuring I find that the subbass region at around 30-50hz always has some zigzag going on, regardless of IEMs being measured. Is that normal? Also there seems to be a hump at the same region following by a drop at around 25hz, which differs from all database available right now, making the subbass look really weird. Any explanation for this?
