    Thank you John for sharing your adventure.
    We are looking forward to the completion of the rail trail to Bethania as we already ride the current section to Yarrabilba a couple of times a week from Logan Village. Riding from Logan Village to Bethania, would make it even better.
    It would be fantastic for the residents at Palm Lakes as well. A safe walk right or ride on their back door steps.

      My pleasure... exactly. Rail Trails are fantastic pieces of infrastructure within communities - can't wait till this is completed.

    Apparently, they have started pulling up the old tracks at the Logan village end. I myself the other day watched people in hi viz work clothes surveying and putting in marker pegs, near the bike path that runs beside the old bridge, that crosses Cambogan creek in Woodlands. Which would be the obvious bypass for that bridge. 🤞Things are finally on the move.

      Finally... Yeah, I saw them doing something at Logan Village too. Great to see

      @@jelbuilderfilms in Sydney we have a 40km stretch of cycle path running along side the M7 motorway..(similar to the V1 but no roads to cross) mostly only 2 wheels on it and every now and then a few humans but no pets allowed and it's a cycling haven... I miss that the most about Sydney but nothing else lol..

    • @jelbuilderfilms
      @jelbuilderfilms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's pretty cool.... The V1 is currently being extended from Underwood southward.... Lots of work happening there currently in Springwood, so will be good once done (not as good as Sydney's)

      @@jelbuilderfilms really? The trail is going all the way to Beaudesert?

      I hope that you realize that as The planned route goes through the guts of a retirement Community. Palm Lakes Resort. We are an ageing community,av age 75yrs. A group of people, like your parents and grandparents who have lived in Suburbia while they raised you, paid their taxes and in their supposed Golden Years are expecting that our Logan City Council and State Govt. Will give them the respect they deserve in this stage of their lives.
      Please consider how you will like to be treated when you also reach our age. Maureen Farrell. Resident.

    Awesome news and awesome video! If you love Rail Trails so much why haven't you done the BVRT?!

    • @jelbuilderfilms
      @jelbuilderfilms  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I haven't done BVRT yet because of a little thing called 'time' 😂 and me being extremely time poor! On my list hopefully before the year is through.

      @@jelbuilderfilms yep, I have a similar problem.

    So this project is ultimately really about accommodating a small specific group of long distance travellers.

    • @jelbuilderfilms
      @jelbuilderfilms  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure how you got to that conclusion, but that is totally incorrect as to what Rail Trails are about within Australia. I encourage you to check out Rail Trails Australia website. You'll come some to see the historical relevance, community benefit, and exciting yet safe commuting options they bring to many not some "small specific group of long distance travellers". Thanks for checking out the video and commenting. 👍👍

    • @jamesherbst4988
      @jamesherbst4988 ปีที่แล้ว

      I came to that conclusion because the video is indicating a 43km route?

    • @jelbuilderfilms
      @jelbuilderfilms  ปีที่แล้ว

      The 43km route is likely a 15-20 year away reality with how slow rail trails get constructed.... And I only throw that marathon thought in there for a laugh. The new proposed segment from Bethania will be giving lots of new options for individuals or families up to Yarrabilba that we've never had yet.

    • @jamesherbst4988
      @jamesherbst4988 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s the thing though, I can’t see that. The existing 3.5km route works because it’s between Logan Village and Yarrabillba AND it’s only 3.5km. The next section is 10.5km! If you want to give residents around the Bethania and Waterford area a recreational walking and cycling option…they’ve already got it. The investment that Woodlands have made into their parks, footpaths, cycle ways, bridges, ovals, tennis courts, access to drinking water taps, lighting etc, is more scenic, engaging and safer, than a straight track through the scrub for 10.5km one way. As a leisure experience, you’d simply be duplicating the same recreational product, only the rail trail would be an inferior one to what exists.
      The longer you make the time required to complete a leisure experience, the less inclusive it becomes.

      @@jamesherbst4988 I think that as time goes on and more communities are developed along the length the rail trail, the more vital it will be for recreation and connectivity. I don't believe that Logan can exist in isolation, it needs to be more fully integrated to the surrounding districts and regions. Having lived and worked in Europe I can see the benefits that long distance trails provide. Not just to the people in one little area, but to the wider area.

  • @jamesherbst4988
    @jamesherbst4988 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I thought that it was really strange that you went the long and dangerous way from Easterly Street to Bethania? Why didn’t you go the shorter and safer way using the footpaths along High Road? Everybody else does…. Madness.

    • @jelbuilderfilms
      @jelbuilderfilms  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm lucky to still be alive.... Imagine if I ran or cycled all the way to Logan Village on that road😳 👍👍

    • @jamesherbst4988
      @jamesherbst4988 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No one does. They all take High Road. It’s quiet, has footpaths and is a beautiful route going past Canterbury College: really pretty, the college and grounds are very impressive. That way also gives you the option to connect with all the beautiful parks, wildlife & creeks in Woodlands. I’ve never seen anyone running or walking to Logan Village (unless they’ve broken down).

    We would like to invite you to our fenced and gated village of more than 800 residents. We do not want to stop the Rail Trail, we want it diverted around us, ( just like you ran around us.) Would you like this to happen to your Mum or Grandma? Please contact me and I will show you.

    It would be a wonderful assett to Rail Trails Qld if it was not going through the guts of a Retirement Community. Made up of over 800 people, av age 75yrs. We would like to ask all you lovely people who are pushing for this Rail Trail to lobby Logan City Council for a diversion around Palm Lakes instead of through the guts of our ageing Community..
