FANUC America Authorized System Integrator Farason Corporation developed this innovative and highly efficient robotic syringe assembly system to utilize six compact FANUC LR Mate robots to handle a variety of parts and assemble them into medical syringes. All the FANUC robots are equipped with custom-designed end-of-arm-tools, and multiple vision inspections are performed throughout the process to ensure quality.
First, a 6-axis FANUC LR Mate Robot picks parts from two separate vibratory inline tracks and places them on top of awaiting handles. The next LR Mate long-arm version robot picks and transfers the parts from the handles to a waiting fixture for the next series of assembly steps. Another FANUC LR Mate Robot picks plungers from a discharge conveyor. The robot inserts the plungers into seals that are fed via a vibratory inline track. The robot then places the plungers into the awaiting handles, then both pieces are fused together. The next FANUC LR Mate transfers the fused assemblies into a downstream fixture. At the next station, the FANUC LR Mate is equipped with a dual-purpose end of arm tool, which it uses to pick different parts from a vibratory inline track and a starwheel and place them into separate fixtures. Finally, the last FANUC LR Mate equipped with a 5-up end-of-arm-tool mimics a walking beam assembly. Five grippers move back and forth from station to station, continually picking and placing syringes, while pneumatic slides perform the last assembly steps. Syringes that pass inspection are placed into a collection bin.
This robotic Syringe Assembly System from Farason produces 18 parts a minute, and includes a feature whereby the robots clear the assembly fixtures of parts into reset bins during a system reset, eliminating the need for an operator to manually perform this task. Doesn't medical production require the use of clean room grade robots?

that's why the robots are in a glass chamber where you can watch them making it

@@dennavjrp4810 I was talking about the robots themselves. Clean room type robots require special filtration and ventilation, and protection from letting any gearbox grease in the air, or any particulate into their working environment. Just putting it in a glass box doesn't make it clean, if you put a smoke machine in a glass case it doesn't suddenly stop emitting particulate that can interfere with the process. That's why most clean room robots are generally not painted and left in a stainless steel finish with negative pressure purge or special bellows.
