It’s kind of thematically cool that the Space Marine chapter Guilliman fought was the Minotaurs considering their iconography. The Minotaurs have Greek designs and fought for the old guard High Lords while Guilliman’s Ultramarines are more Roman a people who took a lot culturally from the Greeks but became a vastly more powerful nation.
I hate that they got away doing that would declare even a Founding Chapter Excommunicae Traitoris, setting foot on Terra with full Chapter to support a coup, killing a Costudes in the process.
It was all fun and games for the minotaurs until Guiliman performed a decapitation strike resulting in all the high lords being killed except the assassin leader, showing them exactly why you don't fuck with him, because he already several steps ahead of you.
The high lords tried to punish the Raven Guard for the loss of perfectia to the Tau so they sent a company of Minatours to destroy the Ghost Stalkers. For weeks the Ghost Stalkers led by Shrike picked off the Minatours 3rd company and sent the company captains head back to Terra. The High Lords clammed up and wouldn't disturb the RG again.
A reminder in the battle of Optera, where the Minotaurs and Lamenters fought, the Lamenters were not at full strength while the Minotaurs were. I bring up this fact because at the end of the 17 hour engagement between the two forces with Imperial armor book 10 stating “both sides suffering appalling casualties.” It continues to state that the minotaurs took “ significant losses”. To the Minotaurs credit however they continued to participate in the Badab war until 913.M41
I came here to say this. If I recall correctly, the Minotaurs only accepted the Lamenter surrender because they fought with such ferocity. The Minotaurs seem to *live* to get stuck in on the front. And the Lamenters gave them just that.
Even better than that, not only did the Lamenters fight with incredible ferocity, they refused to kill any Minotaurs. Sabotaging their vehicles and live capture only. It's the only reason why the Minotaurs stopped and went "Since when were Chaos Space Marines such pansies that they don't kill?" and a Lamenter replied "What Chaos are you talking about?! We refuse to kill fellow Astartes when we're fighting against Inquisitorial Interference." "Hrm. Well you still upset the High Lords so we're taking you in on treason charges still."

Both Imperial Armor books 9&10 explicitly state that the Lamenters killed Minotaurs/blew up their ships in space combat/ and performed boarding assaults on the Minotaurs ships.

The best part is even to the High lords, the first legion and their primarchs work is mostly Black op missions like it's shrouded in mystery because the work was never documented. A miss in this is that the founding for the minotaurs are the 21st cursed founding, the 13th is called the dark founding and includes exorcists, death specters and the crimson sabers/crimson slaughter.
Came to say the same, the 21th is the cursed founding! And allegedly de one on the minotaurs... though there are records of the minotaurs acting before the 21th founding...
As badass as these dudes are. And as much as I hope their leader is a perpetual thunder warrior... I think these guys are due to be checked HARD! Executioners or Carcharodons maybe lol. Could be a fun read

Btw. As far as we know the Minotaurs dont just answer to the high lords of Terra but to the High Lord of the Adeptus Administratum which might be because he is generally seen as the most powerful high lord.

Matt Ward, a GW writer who wrote a lot about the Ultramarines, made them "the best of the best" which many people used to disagree with back then. That's why you will see a lot of "ultramarine hate" ... They got plot armor. Before they became the poster-boys, it was a mixture of Blood Angels and shortly after Black Templars. Ultramarines then later took that spot.
To be fair there isn't much the custodes and sororitas can't handle. The sisters are legit under appreciated as a force. Absolutely lethal and honestly while not modified as extensively as the superhuman armies it doesn't change the fact that they are simply insanely well equipped as compensation for it.
My friend and I were obsessed with niche factions of Marines. I loved celestial lions , and he loved minotaurs. He even went as far as to kitbash an entire army of them with helmet plumes and everything looked just like the books it's crazy

I know this doesn’t really have much to do with this clip……….. but, from all the new lore that has been coming out the last few years (mostly surrounding 10th edition) has there been any news of Dorn being alive or completely confirmed dead and never coming back?!? They didn't really fight Guilliman. What happen was is Guilliman fired a few of the Highlords and they were not happy about it and so they waited for him to leave Terra to spring a coup with the Minotaur's Chapter Master and the Grand Master of the Assassinorum only to find out too late the Assassinorum was on Guilliman's side the whole time.
People clearly havent read the books, The minotaurs are loyal to the Administrator General the main highlord. Who was newly appointed by Guilliman. Thus the minos are completely under G mans control. So if the minos go wreck another chapter of which they have done very successfully since they were made. It is under the order of Guilliman

I already know about the Lion and Girly-Man (I only put it that way because it’s still kinda funny and not played out like “blueberry boys” or “ Smurfs” are! They didn't really fight Guilliman. What happen was is Guilliman fired a few of the Highlords and they were not happy about it and so they waited for him to leave Terra to spring a coup with the Minotaur's Chapter Master and the Grand Master of the Assassinorum only to find out too late the Assassinorum was on Guilliman's side the whole time.
