Also in 1980s, Reg Grundy produced Time Machine for NBC. Wish Time Machine should have kept on the air along with their sister shows, $ale of the Century and Scrabble. Time Machine should've have their home game version. But it's not. 😢💔
I’ll probably be out of my league suggesting this, But Jeopardy! and Password Plus for the Milton Bradley Omni Entertainment System from the early 1980s.
Over the weekend, I got the 2013 edition of “Scrabble” and it has the same board overlays than the 2007 edition that I have. The 2007 edition was really bad, and it has colored squares on the board. The 2013 edition is an upgraded but instead of using the original letter tiles from previous versions, they used new letter tiles with a different font type which is pretty cool. Now I can play the 2013 edition with “TV Scrabble”. You need two people can play the game just like the game show. For the 2013 edition, it says “Hasbro Gaming” on the front, side, back and the board itself. The 2007 edition says “Hasbro” on the front, but it has Milton Bradley and Parker Brothers on the side and on the back, and that was during the transitional period when both MB and Parker Brothers were merged into Hasbro.
These reviews are truly sensational! I owned this game way back in '86, but it got lost when I eventually got married and moved out. But a very clever and faithful transition from the TV Show.
BTW, I just ordered “TV Scrabble” from eBay tonight. Can’t wait to play it next week. I hope it will go with the regular “Scrabble” board game. It will play just like the game show. All I can say is, way better than “Scrabble Showdown”.
Guess what! I got this game today. I want to play it with the Scrabble board game to go with it. This is better than the later versions of Scrabble. There was no 2nd edition of TV Scrabble. There were many varieties of Scrabble like Scrabble Slam and Scrabble Flash, but TV Scrabble is the best.
Interesting. Though it should've come with sound effects and things like that. I saw a few videos where there were some computer versions of this game although I think they were probably fan made.
Selshow & Righter was the company that made the original Scrabble board game before it became Hasbro. Also the same company that made Parcheesi and the original Trivial Pursuit board game from 1981. By 1989, Selchow & Righter was folded, and two board game companies like Milton Bradley which owned Scrabble at the time, and then Parker Brothers also owned Trivial Pursuit, and finally ended up folded into what is now Hasbro.
Above the letters are numbers and you reveal them in order of the numbers. it's hard to see because of how the board is designed and shooting the Red window is a pain in the butt. Password will be easier since all we have to do is shoot the small packet instead of the big board.
The way it works (according to the instructions) is both players take turns. The buzz in thing is actually not used for buzzing in lol. It's supposed to determine who's in control in the Sprint Round. According to the rules, after each letter is revealed, you're supposed to hit the button to see who's turn it is to make a guess. You're supposed to add up your points from both the main and Sprint rounds to determine the winner. But you can use it however you want.
@@davidlivingston2754 The Sprint round is another feature of the game. Instead of using the board, you have to use the console display to choose any number which is out of order, the letter will appear, after filling out letters, you have to buzz in for a correct answer. After three rounds of play, and five rounds of the front game, you have to write down the total score, and you win the game.
@@davidlivingston2754 We have the “Taboo” board game that we got at Walmart and it does have a squeaker, and instead of using a plastic buzzer, the squeaker from Taboo works with “TV Scrabble” for both the Sprint and Speed Word after nailing all three Stoppers.
Me neither since I have the regular Scrabble board game, and it’s the Hasbro edition. If I can get TV Scrabble, I can use the score sheet when I’m making a copy, and use the regular Scrabble board and wooden letter tiles and use it as an alternative.
If you are not a fan new “Scrabble” on the CW with a new host Raven-Symone from “That’s So Raven”, you should play “TV Scrabble”, it’s way better than the new one.
Me too. We played “TV Scrabble” at day program and it was a lot of fun. I helped one of the players picked two numbers, I picked two letters whether if it’s in the number position, or a stopper. If the letter makes a mistake, you get a stopper and loses a turn. If you get all three stoppers, the players has a chance to go for the speed word to see the letters pop up for an answer. That’s how we played the game. Everybody love it so much. Instead of using a play board, I used the regular Scrabble board with the tiles. I chose the 2013 Hasbro Gaming over the 2007 version. For me, I chose the 2013 Hasbro Gaming version which is a lot better than the 2007 Hasbro version. I used to like the 2007 Hasbro version, but it had different color tiles which wasn’t that good. The 2013 Hasbro Gaming version has the same colored tiles just like what it was used on a game show, and the original board game. And it works with “TV Scrabble”. Unfortunately, there is no 2nd edition of “TV Scrabble”, so did the later editions from the Milton Bradley era right up to the Hasbro era. This was the only edition of “TV Scrabble” made by Selchow & Righter from 1987, long before it became Hasbro.
Yeah I did have a cousin who had this game, though I never played it. I can see why the paper sheets with the red background makes it a little fiddly. But still, it looks good regardless.

$200 is an ask since that's the going rate for it.

Always wondered how this worked.
And for the record, the company was pronounced Sel-show & Right-er.

How did you work the sprint round

the game play sucks on the new one

fun fact: my brother in law still has his copy at his parents' home.
