Never do this again indycar
We'll see about that.
At least make a preseason testing event and not hype it up into some '1 Million (500k) Dollar challenge' that the layperson would think is a real race.... it screamed gimmick from the get-go.
I don't like the heat set up. Just do a regular race. This is why so many people dislike NASCAR now.
That´s the point
Let’s try the All-Star Race on an oval!
Awful event . Just staged to promote rich people in the private race track dont do it next year .
Heck. A drag race would have been more entertaining. Can we do THAT next year? (Or next week?) This was just an extended time share promo for Thermal Club!
Incredible challenge unlucky Grosjean was the first victim of this race, overall incredible racing action for a 1 Mio $ palou the champ obviously has to win it wow can we stop him in the next big race 🙏🙏🙏🍀
Never Indycar has a SLOBBERKNOCKER of a 1 Million $ Non Points Event
Una garcha la carrera
4:32 ALEX PALOU IS THE MAN
Na boa, foi uma porcaria! Não só foi o pior evento da Indy desta década, mas com certeza um dos piores eventos dos últimos 30 anos!
E outro ponto, essa pista pode ser boa para treinar, mas nunca, nunca mesmo para uma prova.
Cue the whining.
Deservedly so.
ALEX PALOU WINS $1,000,000
ALEX PALOU WINS $1,000,000
@@anandguruji83actually only $500,000.
"Thermal club 1 million dollar challenge"
Wtf...
Embarrassment for the sport. If fans can't attend in mass it doesn't belong on the calendar. This was a terrible joke of an event at some rich bozos country club.
I don't think this track was a good idea. Like, this track wasn't designed for racing in mind. Didn't see many opportunities to pass. I get they were trying to fill the gap between the two points races but this wasn't it. Also, apparently the winner did not get $1 million dollars but won 500K instead. Kind of misleading if I'm being honest or did I misread it and assumed the winner got $1 million dollars?
500.000 Dollar for the winner ! Alex Palou !
Thermal Club is not a racetrack, its a track day circuit - designed for lapping, not racing.
I believe the total purse was 1.7 million. Hence million dollar challenge.
Please don’t ever do this again
Totally agree. A waste of our time.
Who won a Million Dollars? Let me guess. PALOU!?
Lol Indycar tries something radical and new at a new track to bring the schedule up to 18 races and fans are still negative and bitter about it!
@@OnwardSoldierhonestly i just think it should have been worth points maybe like half but there is nothing to be excited about if there are no points
@@BFDIFinalistsfan2763 about that.... Palou didn't get a million dollars. he won 500K instead and the rest of the prize money was split to everyone else. Not entirely sure why though.
Would have made it MUCH more interesting if there was a smaller prize fund for the 1-2-3 of both the first and second heat races. Would eliminate teams from sandbagging to save tire wear.
Exactly what I was thinking.
Or even make it so that the runners up got something to fight for
The most boring race I've seen so far.
🚶🏼
Most road courses are
After F1´s Bahrain race this year
Wow.... quite possibly one of the most tasteless, out of touch slaps in the face to your general audience I think I've ever seen. At a time when most people are struggling to keep or find housing and you do this? Flaunting cash and an exotic exclusive locale, talking about general admission being ONLY $500 and just going on and on... I get that racing is a rich mans participation sport but the general audience is not rich.
Yea I don't take like that. We get watch for free, get to get info for free on the internet, and watch replays for free on TH-cam.
The entire thing was awkward. Like a bunch of rich people in California playing with their toys. No heart at all. Complete opposite feeling from the Indianapolis 500 and that coverage. Please don’t try to turn Indy car into F1.
Dude it's free to watch on yt and peacock, it's just a one race shootout
Nah . . . I think Bud Light still holds the title for "most tasteless, out of touch slap in the face of your general audience." But IndyCar tried.
There weren't even spectators on the VERY expensive trackside balconies.
That's because the track doesn't allow public events so spectators can't watch the track in person. It's a private club.
Because this track is private property and only the rich people can watch it
@@blee7442why would someone want a house there? Isn't the sound from the cars unbereable to live that close? Question coming from someone who lives in EU and can't understand the nonsense of private clubs lol
They said on tv it was $500 to the public and get all access.
@@blee7442 Surely the homeowners could watch from their own balconies . . . but very few, if any, did.
This is good for testing track
and for race is not very good
This was by far one of the most boring races ive ever seen. Please do not do this again. Put the leg work in to add another championship race. Grow the sport the right way
"Action in under 5 minutes"
Very appropriate, because there were under five minutes of action today.
Next time, IndyCar, please fill the four-week gap between races with an actual points paying race and don't ever try this rich-person club bullshit ever again
Chicagoland Speedway would’ve been way cooler just sayin…
Wow this was boring! St:Pete was an endurance race, this was also an endurance race but far worse. Only Herta and Rossi used their push to pass, Rossi didn't gain any positions but Herta did. Herta's charge was the only highlight of the race.
For next year I hope the concept will change.
The only other benefit from the teams were the added time for testing in the training sessions.
I hope the employees of NBC and IndyCar and members of the teams had a great weekend though.
If we have to do something other than an actual IndyCar race, I recommend a drag racing format with actual fans present.
Alex Palou was another zip code...
Needed the money to pay off the Mclaren lawsuit lol.
Please don't ever bring back this race, there's no championship points so what's the point of racing here?
$1M Race to the Rear. What a joke. Watching the Thermalites stuff some Lambos would have been more interesting.
Wait another month for a race…Cmon Roger, do something
Well at least Palou has a bit more money for that McLaren lawsuit, I guess
What a joke. This race was so terrible...
This race is all for attracting those uber rich fellas to make B2B deals. It may suck for us common folks, but I heard a comment on the Indycar subreddit that works in hospitality that those same uber rich fellas are very happy with Indycar and various deals and discussions are going on behind the scenes already. I'm not sure who's gonna pay/sponsor what but if it means more money into the sport then by all means.
If you have a format like this again, there's no need to broadcast it. Thank you.
What was the point of this?
Entertainment into Greatness
Selling time shares for Thermal Club.
You know it’s a terrible format when the F1 race that day is more interesting lol
That first half of the race was embarrassingly bad
First: That track is not designed to race at the level that indy does, it is just “follow the leader” track.
Second: No spectators allowed, why??? Only club members, please INDYCAR you are making US fans that aren’t millionaires feel left out, just remember WE the crowds are the ones that pay for the whole Series to stay alive.
Third: INDYCAR is for everyone not only for a selected few people.
THANKS
Watched an interview with someone saying about the 'club members' that they're 'just like you and me' and my bullsh!t meter went off... Yeah, let me hop in my $500,000 sports car and turn some laps with you next weekend, right guys??? Give me a break. Us peasants can watch on the big TVs though! Derp....
It's not easy to make IndyCar boring. Somehow, in Thermal Club, it has been done! It would have been better for the series if Thermal Club had NOT been televised. When your own announcers are likening the event to an informal round of GOLF (a tedious, boring thing to watch), you've lost the game. If the fans matter at all, Thermal Club was a phenomenal mistake. Now . . . how long until there's something IndyCar to help us forget? How long? A month? Oh, my.
This was the most boring race of all time.
"Like anyone could even know that" -- Kip Dynamite
soo this was Hawaii Superprix in a smaller scale, that actually happened ...
so this one here goes to the list as another one of historic Indycar stupid ideas...
just sad, this isn't even funny as a history to tell in the future
Dear me, IndyCar, you do make it hard to love you sometimes.
Horrible and Bush league
Now go Race at Sebring for 500 miles next week
Worthless
If only it was a points race and not a rich people gated community track
UNNECESARY race.
Where is everyone? Did they not sell tickets? /s
The few tickets they did sell were originally $2000. Can't have many of us actual fans scumming up a country club.

Sell the series Roger!!!

at least ovals were peak in 1971@@paulpark1170
@@paulpark1170 Stingy and rich !
Two things:
1 Nonsense race.
2 Poor Grosjean, all his highlights are mistakes or crashes.
1. Yes, absolutely!
2. Yes, I felt sorry for him too, Grosjean was crashed out by Dixon so unfortunately not much he could do.
At least Dixon got a drive through.
What a pointless and boring excercise. Couldn't we have had a real race instead of,... whatever that was?
It came off like an extended time share promo!
Looks like ignoring indycay this weekend was a good call. Wtf is this? Trying to pass nascar as the joke of the racing world?
I think The Indycar Thermal Club $1 Million Challenge is a blatant cash grab and a ploy to attract attention and hype to the sport. It feels like a cheap gimmick to generate buzz rather than a genuine competition based on skill and merit. Furthermore, the exorbitant prize money seems excessive and adds to the perception of Indycar racing as being more about money and showmanship rather than true sportsmanship. Overall, I believe this challenge detracts from the integrity of the sport and is a poor reflection on the values of Indycar racing.
INDYCAR if your gonna do the Million dollar challenge again don’t do at thermal club bring it to Phoenix raceway or IMS a place that allows fans to attend and if it’s called the million dollar challenge let the winner get 1 million dollars instead of 500,000
BOOOOOOOORING!
Welcome to the 80s. Oh. Look, why don't you just make the drivers beg for money on tv. Maybe make it a mud wrestle...
What is this!!!
What highlights just Palou stinking up and pulling away from the field with no competition. I hate to say it but I hope indycar doesn't turn into f1 with one driver domination cough cough max verstappen
What a strange race. Why was there a half-time break?
Answer: Penske and his "Entertainment" is sick🏁
Real answer: To keep the leader from having to lap cars on a track too narrow to allow it.
If the heats were longer and you would allow the tire change at the break of the final race it could be much better. Well, still better than nothing, I guess.
They couldn't make the heats longer because they couldn't risk having the leader have to try to lap somebody -- on a track ill-suited to lapping anyone.
The only way they make Canapino finished top10
Wtf was this 😂😂😂😂
Please never again
King Bong 🦍
💪What if you made 4 heats all worth the same money. In each heat you get point based upon you position. Most points after 4 heats gets the grand prize.
It didn’t interest me, so I didn’t watch. I do agree that it was probably valuable from a testing standpoint, but if all 26 cars are not on track, it’s not a compelling race.
Indycar experimented with this. I’d give it a 5/10. I don’t agree with the format that they did. Try an All Star race at the midpoint of the season and on an oval.
The last ten laps where fun, Newgarden vs Rossi, Herta from ninth to fourth place, but i agree the rest was a bit meh, with some decent overtakes.
Holy COW WHAT A SENSATION of a SLOBBERKNOCKER FOR THE INDYCARS
Not compelling in any way.
CRAZY ALL STAR RACE
OMG
Indycar needs more ovals. Not… this
No ! More street and road courses but not this one.
Yes they do need more ovals but you just need to stop complaining
They literally added more ovals this year.
@@OnwardSoldierwatch the same people demanding more ovals but didn't put their money where their mouth is when it comes to supporting Iowa, Milwaukee mile and Nashville SS later in the year. If any of these oval events outside the indy500 have less than anticipated crowds, then Indycar will most likely cut ovals from future schedules except the indy500.

I hate these cars on ovals,, they are designed for Streets and Grand Prix circuits the only oval should be the Indy 500…
Well done Alex you're best money $500,000 dollars!💰💰💰💰💰💰🏁🏎
Indycar fans complain and cry more than NASCAR fans. A new track, an 18th race, Yes, it wasn't a normal event but Indycar tried something new and it wasn't even that bad.
I don't get the hate. This is a broadcasted test session. It's something the fans are not privy to, so a glimpse of what a test weekend is like is a good thing. The teams got to test under real race scenarios, we got something in between the races, nothing lost everything gained. If you think it's not worth your time, you didn't have to watch, since tis didn't count for points. For me, more indycar is better.
a test event is basically designed for feedback from drivers, teams, broadcasters and fans. the feedback from fans is right here and has been overwhelmingly negative.
We are talking about the race, it was so MIIIIIID
Yes on the test, no on the race. They shouldn't sell it as a race then. Misleading.
@@TheRealBrotherLance seriously. do it off-season.
Grosjean can't even have luck here
Also why do you make something like this? Doesn't half the IndyCar grid earn a million yearly already?
Did they miss an entire race, just because of a sponsored event?
Indycar really needs to go back to teams having the same livery for their cars.
So many mentally damaged "fans". This was wayy better than no racing for 6 weeks.
No. Racing would have been better than no racing. This wasn't racing.
Can't quite put my finger on it because the racing was really exciting but it felt dissapointing. Congrats to Palou for sure. Maybe dissapointing isn't the right word. Unrelatable maybe? Out of place in the series. Maybe I'm just a hater I guess
