This is actually one of the karts I've been using for a while because of how good the acceleration is. Didn't expect to be actually the slowest combo ever. XD
it also has the highest mini turbo stat, so it's not too bad!
I've always used baby Daisy and this combo. I like that smidge extra speed at the cost of a little lostMT stat.

In 3DS, sense you could see the itens that your rival gets, I would always stop the car and let everybody pass me. In this game, is a little hard, because you only see the blue shell once it's coming in your direction. But it's still possible, only the window to fool the shell blue is smaller.

I also main this setup! It's served me extremely well in online play and time trials both 150cc and 200cc. It's cool to see that people do actually play Baby Rosalina though, I thought they didn't exist until I scrolled through the comments of this video.

this combo is my 200cc main! used to be my main for 150cc but i gave in and switched. the weight stat is too horrible :(

I'm with you on the weight stat thing. On Mkwii the weight stat is even more busted to the point using lightweights are unviable on tracks due to respawns. I bought mk8d just because the lightweights are very usable and I love toad and the baby characters!!!

Unviable is a stretch but sets like Funky Kong + Flame Runner and Daisy + Mach Bike definitely outclass any of the lightweight options.
Univable is exagerrated, I remember I had reached 9999 points with Baby Luigi Bullet Bike and stayed around the 9000s during a long time. But yes, you were ejected pretty far at the slightest impact, and it was even worse in the air.

I remember being Dry Bones main on MkWii (peaked around 9850), and I can confirm that I would get knocked off the beginning of Rainbow Road 4 times out of 5.

Acceleration is the only important thing. It’s all about the highest average speed.
I can’t get over the fact that Baby Rosalina’s hair is identical to the grow up version. Every other baby character has different hair, but Rosalina found a great style as a toddler and never looked back

This is my setup while i play (i just used drybones instead because basically the same stats). Its a super fun combo and constantly gliding between placements whenever you get in the zone is just the best feeling. Its a pure skill build that can definitely top the best builds out there if you can play to its advantages
I know literally zero about Mario kart, especially modern ones, but this was really interesting to watch. Always like seeing underdog builds in games.
This was my actual favorite load out I tried it out because it was the slowest but it gives you so much control and now it’s the only load out I’ll do

I use the same combo for 200 cc but with koopa troopa. The mini turbo and acceleration is worth the slight speed decrease and you get so much more control. Great vid btw!!

I’ve actually used this exact combo a LOT because the acceleration and handling are insane
This setup is honestly pretty close to optimal, and is optimal on several tracks. The mini-turbo is much more important in this game than raw speed.
I swear sometimes the onky bananas shortcat hits are the ones he places.
I got this in my recommended and it's literally the setup I use every time 😂 I love it so much.

Very relatable for me. Baby Rosalina is my main in both 150cc and 200cc, though I end up using the Mr. Scooty. So satisfying when you win. Amazing video 😊

If you're looking for a fun acceleration combo to play (at least in my opinion lol), I recommend Bowser Jr., The Duke, Azure Rollers, and the Cloud Glider

I use a similar combo except I use a Bowser Kite and the azure wheels with a lightweight character. It gets the job down. Would like to see more videos testing combos.
I've actually used this strat a ton with dy bones in 200cc. Though that was probably years ago and the "meta" has changed a lot. Mostly because that's what Mankalor used.

While that's not my exact build, different body and glider, my stats are exactly the same. I perform pretty well with it, especially the more tight turn focused tracks. If my luck is good and I keep a solid defense and occasional boost I consistently place top 3. It's not an optimal build but for some reason I fell in love with it lol

This really goes to show that top speed isn’t all that important in lobby especially when you get hit a lot lol. What’s more important is getting to your top speed quickly and having good mini turbo which this combo is great for

The thing is you have optimal mini turbo but dry bones combo has too but more speed so thats better but yoshi teddy is less mini turbo but sooo much better in speed and you still have much mini turbo
exactly. the hidden mini turbo stat is pretty busted, tbh i think MT > speed, but only by a little bit.
the reason i think this is because the current most popular combo (yoshi tier + teddy buggy) is tied for #1 highest speed + MT sum. and of those best combos, yoshi teddy has the #1 highest MT stat, and lowest speed stat.
even if you look at prepatch, so many records were set on waluigi/biddybuggy, which is exactly the same idea. it was tied for #1 highest speed + MT combo you can have, and it had the highest MT / lowest speed out of those combos. walu/wiggler also had very similar stats.
Yeah i mean mt is better than speed imo but still online its literally bad to go in all mini turbo cause much Mini turbo=less weight and you get bumped of very easily with the Yoshi combo you still get bumped pretty hard so i use the Rosa combo i feel like online you can do

i love this kart combo, the accelleration carrys it super hard, used it to get the gold wheels
This was actually my main for about 4 years. I dragged it up to just over 9k.
Eventually I stopped playing as much, and my little brother got too far ahead in rating (around 13k). Between that matchmaking, and my own skills being rusty, I was stuck mid-pack a lot. Which is really rough in this combo, so I started playing heavy(er) characters.
This combo is/was not bad at most tracks, you just need to stay out of trouble and have a smooth run. 200cc and twisty courses are your friend, you feel like a god.
It's lost some since the stat rebalancing, but before that anything biddybuggy/rollers was at least decent. Even now I'll still play this combo on occasion for fun, especially when I'm matchmaking at my own rating.

In the original Kart the 2 characters with the most speed were Bowser and DK, but they were hard to steer. In Kart 8 the the drift boost concept means that the character/vehicle/tires/parachute are supposed to be used to have the highest "acceleration".
If you have highest acceleration and can keep boosting, you are the fastest.

I call bull. I know for a fact that a good chunk of the world records are set by the biddy buggy with roller wheels. That amazing mini turbo compensates for so much, and your handling is amazing.
As time wore on, simple dog commands turned into full paragraphs explaining why the dog couldn’t do something.
I haven’t gotten the chance to buy the newest Mario kart yet (I’m stuck on wii) but your videos and shorts make me want to get the newest one ❤
i love mario kart wii, but this game just has so many more viable combos and fun tracks. for me, the physics in this game is actually more fun. mkwii has greater competitive depth and less randomness tho
